What lessons have you absorbed from the culture about yourself as a sexual being? How much do you have to trust someone before being comfortable with intimacy? I know marvel wants Peter in all team books possible as of the last decade or two but I just think that the guy being simultaneously the friendly neighborhood spider-man and well known as an anti-social bitch in hero circles is just delightful

The Wolverine-Spidey dichotomy, Spidey has the aesthetic of a team player while actually being an impossible-to-work-with loner, Wolverine has the aesthetic of an impossible-to-work-with loner while being a member of every single team at all times.

Also them both being actual school teachers but Wolvie aggressively mentoring teen heroes whereas even with Miles my impression is that Peter periodically drops by to say “Hey, learning well? Keep it up!” and then scarpers. That’s his day job, man! And anyway he’s a science teacher, not a heroing teacher. Peter is probably a better classroom teacher than Wolverine but you’re so much better off dropping a messed up teen hero on Wolvie’s doorstep than Spidey’s.

You’re not entirely wrong here. The only thing I really want to point out is that even “Friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man” was originally a VERY sarcastic joke. Peter is a good man. He is not a particularly nice one. Also he has a decent history as a mentor to teen hero, but in my opinion his relationship with Miles is undermined inherently by the necessity of them being equals. No force on Earth can or should make Miles Peter’s sidekick, but combined with him having his own solo title doing his own thing, that’s pretty much going to mean peter’s just dropping by occasionally to offer advice. It’s also further undermined by the modern characterisation of Peter as a hapless and silly everyman, because that guy has much less useful things to say lol.
