I'm Jessie Elle, I'm a woman, my pronouns are she/her/hers, and I don't answer to male-coded terms e.g. "dude", "guy", "bro", "man", etc. I don't care if anyone thinks those are gender-neutral (they're not).

I'm English but not resident in the UK, I work as an ESL teacher mainly to adults, and I'm a big nerd for the English language, foreign languages, linguistics, programming, and video games. I'm a big fan of Doctor Who and Westworld. I like a lot of music but mainly rock and pop from the second half of the last century, I'm also a self-taught pianist, I'm not very good at it but I enjoy it a lot. I've also been getting into art and fashion which are things that have always spoken to me. I would love to try my hand at game development one day but I don't have time and resources for that at the moment.

I'm transgender/transsexual, intersex, and transmisogyny-affected (TMA). I'm also asexual and lesbian-oriented quoiromantic. I may be polyromantic too but it's hard to say, given that I don't know what love is or what it's supposed to feel like. I'm usually sex-repulsed but I support sex worker rights and oppose sex negativity. I have social anxiety and probably some other underexamined neurodiversities, I may be either on the autistic or the schizotypal spectrum, but being trans makes getting any kind of diagnosis out of the question. I am also white and thin but committed to anti-racism and anti-fatphobia.

I'm an anarcho-communist, I believe that an organised and structured society without hierarchy or coercion is both possible and the only way towards true class abolition. That said, I'm friendly to pretty much any flavour of communist because we all want the same thing in end. I am also a transfeminist and a strong believer in bodily autonomy, abortion freedom (with absolutely no exceptions), child liberation, and unrestricted access to trans healthcare on the basis of informed consent.

I do not have compassion or patience for misogynists, homophobes, transphobes, acephobes/exclusionists, polyphobes, ableists, Zionists and genocide deniers of any kind, racists and antisemites, TERFs and SWERFs, incels and MRAs, Christofascists, rapists and sexual abusers, coercively controlling or jealous men, transmisogynists and trans chasers/fetishists, fatphobes and eating disorder promoters, antivaxxers and pseudomedicine promoters, as well as anyone who defends or uses generative A.I. (no nuance). Palestine shall be free from the river to the sea. I don't know if I'm completely anti-psychiatry but I'm currently skeptical of it. I am an atheist and very skeptical of any religious institutes, people with personal religious beliefs are welcome here, but Christians are on thin ice. Also, not on the same order of severity, but astrology and MBTI are bigoted horseshit.

the more i talk to extended family the more i learn that it was EXTREMELY obvious to all the adults around me as a child that something had gone horribly wrong and i needed professional help, but i guess there's some sort of prime directive thing where you can suggest to the kid's parents that the kid might need help but you can never ever ever let on to the kid that you can tell something is wrong. you just have to hold on to that until the kid becomes an adult who's able to say "so i think i experienced a lot of trauma when i was very little" and then you can say "yes, i know. i didn't know what happened but it was completely unmissable that something had." okay. thank you. that's very validating. but why did you leave me to suffer and keep feeling like there was no other explanation than that i was broken and going insane. would it really have been so bad to sit me down and go "i see you. i can't help much, but i can tell something happened and you're in a lot of pain. you deserve help and support. you're not going insane." or something. i don't know. my internal experience was mostly that i had suddenly become a bad child who couldn't seem to get anything right and was always being yelled at. maybe it would have helped if someone had said something.

Saddest part about this project is how many of your submissions submit with the voice of someone who doesn't think she deserves to even take up this small space you set aside just for this very purpose.

I'm TME but it just really breaks my heart because part of being a cis woman is honestly very frequently getting to feel like at least with other women your experiences will be received with space and kindness and empathy. not just knowing it intellectually but believing it somatically. and it is just very... harrowing and tragic and heartbreaking to see how many trans girls feel like the horrible things they suffered are things they have to apologize for and mitigate and minimize even here.

this is going to be vulnerable but I do think a lot of my activism is motivated by the deep-set pit in my stomach from exactly this. the fact that tme people just have absolutely no care for or solidarity with trans women. they see us as less than human, our struggles as pale imitations of real struggles. even when they aren't expressing outright disdain for us, the apathy is agonizing

I spend most of my time with other trans women for a reason, but I desperately wish I felt like a real person around the other 99.5% of the population. I can fill my social circle with trans women, but that doesn't solve everything. it doesn't change the world beyond my social circle, the world I wish I could step out into and feel remotely welcome in. and even among other trans women, the outside world seeps in heavily. it is the world we all come from and live in, after all. we cannot escape it

and frankly, I deeply love the TME friends in my life and I feel desperate to claw down the walls between us and be understood by them the way I feel so easily and effortlessly understood by the trans women in my life

Instead of a cutesie reference to film censorship it was an explicit statement of defiance of Maryland's criminalization gay sex, which was not repealed until 2002. This wasn't a guy saying "Oh they can't put what I do in the movies according to a completely voluntary industry code" he was saying "The State of Maryland wants to put me in jail for being gay and having gay sex."

It wasn't a guy being cheeky about sex in an ambiguous, cute way. It was a man stating, in no uncertain terms, that a whole state of the United States considered him a criminal for being homosexual.

On this day, 10 July 1985, the French intelligence service carried out a terrorist attack in Aotearoa (New Zealand), which killed Fernando Pereira, a Portuguese photographer. The target of the attack was environmentalist group Greenpeace, and their ship, Rainbow Warrior, which was headed to protest against French nuclear testing in the Moruroa Atoll. Agents of the DGSE attached two limpet mines to the hull, which exploded. France initially denied responsibility but NZ police arrested two of its agents and charged them with murder. Eventually they were sentenced to periods of seven and 10 years' imprisonment for manslaughter and “wilful damage”. However, the United Nations negotiated a settlement under which they were transferred to a French colonial prison. They were then set free after just two years. The terrorists were promoted and decorated upon their return to France. After the bombing, the damaged ship was relocated to Matauri Bay, in order to become a living reef for marine life. Greenpeace purchased a new ship, and also named it Rainbow Warrior, after a fictional Native American prophecy, which stated: “When the world is sick and dying, the people will rise up like Warriors of the Rainbow…” The attack galvanised resistance to nuclear weapons in Aotearoa.
