no outing that’s required by her management is ever an ideal situation for jiae, but she supposes this one isn’t so bad. they even let her wear pants to the event, a rarity for her. granted, they’re silk and the top is sleeveless and they stuck her in a pair of stilettos, but still. she’s grateful for an opportunity to feel some level of comfort. furthermore, she’s surrounded by art. the national museum of modern and contemporary art was a place jiae genuinely enjoyed frequenting in her free time, which she never seemed to have enough of nowadays. it was easy to get lost in here, forget who she was or the responsibilities she had in the real world. many a day disappeared when she had the opportunity to completely immerse herself in the art, drawing inspiration from the famous artists lining the walls.

it was different today, though. they were here for an event. a champagne glass replaced what would have normally been a coffee cup as she meandered around the exhibit, smiling and chatting politely with whoever she happened to run into. while the setting was ideal for just jiae, she was here as wish’s jiae which required a higher level of socialization. what she wanted was to just sip her drink and stare at the paintings and sculptures for hours.

she supposed if she was going to have company, it would be better if it was someone she enjoyed. jiae spotted her brother in the next room and made a beeline for him, avoiding eye contact with anyone that might try and strike up some kind of small talk. without a word, she linked her arm through his, taking a comfortable and familiar position by his side. “ you don’t mind if i steal him , do you ? ” she asks the person jiseok was previously conversing with. “ we’ve both been so busy preparing for comebacks , i rarely get to see my brother anymore . ” it’s partially true, though they tend to make time for each other. it’s unspoken, but they both know they always come first.

“ i’m using you to avoid other people . do you like my pants ? ” she emphasizes the word pants, resisting the urge to test out her range of movement by squatting in the middle of the gallery.
