Questions about how to vote? Please see this handy City of Markham Voter Checklist, and Voter ID Requirements chart. If you have any further questions, please call me at 905-477-4640.
Here's a look at how communities in York Region could be built and connected through my Vision for Connected Communities. Please remember to vote, either online or in a community centre!
Please Watch My Video: My vision for Connected Communities explained; I address: Markham & GTA Traffic, Public Transit, GO Train Frequency & Connectivity, High-Speed Electric Rail (80-160km/hr), Affordable Housing, New High-Tech Industries for Markham, including autonomous Transit Vehicles, Urban Vertical Farming, and The Internet of Things. My vision plans for High-Rise, Mixed-Use, Complete Walkable Urbanism, Rail Integrated Communities.
Through the master planning process, we will accommodate the needs of every age group, including seniors and youth, through affordable housing and a robust, integrated, public transit system. We will strategically place, Hospitals, Commercial Buildings, Entertainment & Recreational Destinations, Elementary & Secondary Schools, Colleges & Universities, so that residents can live, work and play within the 407 corridor.
By burying the 407 Hydro Lines, repurposing the lands to their highest and best use, and effectively zoning, this project will be financed through land value capture, and private investment, so that minimal taxpayers money is used.
Please enjoy the video! And vote today!
Affordable housing is an important issue that needs to be addressed. I have a plan to bring more affordable living to Markham.
I voted! Have you? Voting starts today! You can cast your ballot online, or visit your nearest community centre today. See my previous post for detailed instructions for how to vote online.
Online voting begins today! Watch this great video from the City of Markham for instructions on how to cast your ballot online.

Fresh produce loses 45% of its nutritional value by the time it reaches the shelf (takes 1-2 weeks to get here from California with a stop in Chicago on the way to Markham). Learn about my solution for us to become more self-sufficient and control our food future! Vertical farming uses 1/100 of the water that traditional farming uses, and no soil. It's a high-tech industry that uses the Internet of Things in its monitoring processes, and will create jobs in Markham!

The GO train system in the GTA is under-utilizied. It is catering to the commuter and peak times. It is not servicing people who want to travel in off-peak times. In 2017, the GO Trains had 212,000 riders per day. The Canada Line in Vancouver is a 2-car train that can accommodate more people per day than all the GO lines in the GTA put together. The GO lines in the GTA need to be connected to the subways to make it more convenient and efficient for people to get around. Have a look at my video explaining the possibilities for our GO line network.
Please take the time to watch me explain my vision of the tremendous opportunity we have at Yonge and Hwy 7/407!

See how I can save all of you, the taxpayers, $960 million by using idle land for a world-class economic opportunity, and improving and linking transit so it's easier for you to get around.
Jim was instrumental in moving the planned bus maintenance facility from Langstaff. He explains what's now possible...
Markham centre is a project that I worked on from the very beginning. I hope you’ve been enjoying it! I believe Markham centre continues Markham‘s legacy of being a great place in which to live, work, play and raise your family. The next step is to integrate transit into it. Please visit JimJones.ca to learn more about the future and my vision for transit in Markham. #ReElectJimJones2018 #ConnectedCommunities #VisionForMarkham #RegionalCouncillorMarkham #3decadesofcontribution (at Markham, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn1tG9UgLB3/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=zj4lwwleovai
