People will quite literally blame everything except medical racism, the disastrous state of obstetrical care in the US and our deeply broken medical system. Vaccination, seed oils, conspiracies, anything but the real fucking problem.

I also wonder how much paid maternity leave would affect stillbirth rates and especially stillbirth rates in low-income neighborhoods. I have heard so many stories of women forced to continue doing their shitty physically demanding restaurant jobs while in active labor because they have no other choice.

This country treats pregnant people like shit and then blames them when the lack of care and stress causes negative outcomes. Then it turns around and panics about the percentage of the population no longer interested in reproducing.
