I get why a bunch of folks want to frame the majority of hockey players as conformist rather than as people actively propping up a white supremacist system that overwhelmingly benefits them. it's easier to blame the isolation, homogeneity, and conservativism of the pro-hockey pipeline than it is to look at how we also prop up white supremacist systems with our own "conformity" (more palatable, less visible to us).

but what the players are doing, no matter how silently, props up a system that benefits them. there's no need for conformity when the system is already built with you as the blueprint. tungpin talks a bit about that here.

there is no list of "safe" players or "good" teams, and I'm deeply uninterested in litigating that in any way other than with my block button. we all draw our lines about what we can live with in order to enjoy things.

but imo it's worth thinking about how the ways we engage with players/topics/other fans aren't neutral. how we prop up whiteness, make excuses for it, and refuse to name it what it is. how we make fandom hostile to fans who are outside the homogeneity assumed by broader hockey fandom.

fandom isn't activism, but fandom is made up of people who can have a shitty time or a good time.

wow. just wow. what an incredible honour and a gift, it's incredible. I'm obsessed with how it took THREE (3) volumes to fully bookbind and that chapters 11 and 12 take up the entirety of volume 3 lmfao. roman and I LOVE the symbols in the back and the way volume 2 ends with "Dear Jamie, Come Home" jkdgbadjkfbads and oH My god the books are blue too I cannot believe this.

i wish i could say "I NEED A COPY" at the top of my lungs and commission you but bookbinding is so much work as it is and worth every expensive penny that I can't afford right now lmaooo I'm so glad your girlfriend loved it as an anniversary gift, definitely did it justice and more. just absolutely amazing, well done I love it so much

shout out to people who's family isnt entirely bad or entirely good, but something in between and you dont know how to feel about them. you feel angry but you also feel guilty, because you know they genuinely love and care about you, but sometimes they show it in a way you know its not okay. your feelings are valid, your anger and sadness and grief are valid, and you dont have to prove this to no one. bigger shout out to those with memory issues who know something isnt right but can't recall all of the bad events, only the feelings, which only increases the guilt.
