So I wrote a fic for the first time in a long while... it was a fun exercise brought on by me listening to the Infernal Devices audiobooks this month.
Anyway, Tessa and Jace interaction that CC won’t give us, based on the little information we do have from TftSA about them meeting:
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
//Okay question:
Do we know anything about Tessa meeting Jace? Can’t remember TDA well enough.
THE FAIRCHILDS — THE SHADOWHUNTER CHRONICLES
find someone who knows you’re sad just by the change of tone in your voice
be with someone who loves the feature that you hate the most
fall in love with someone who looks at you and knows they don’t want anyone else
//As I am rereading The Infernal Devices for the first time in many years, I have decided upon an unpopular opinion:
I don’t understand people’s immediate love for Will.
Okay, let me explain. Obviously by end we understand him. I get loving him by the end. I do, too. But he was awful to Tessa in the beginning, and she didn’t know why. I can’t figure out why she had feelings for him.
Obviously I’m with him by the end. But I think the reason Jem has always been my favorite character in the Shadowhunter Chronicles is because he is so kind, so funny, so supportive, so loving... all from moment one.
Okay but hypothetically if I made a Tessa rp blog would anyone want to do a thread?

Anyone take Shadowhunter Chronicles fanfic requests?
“I loved Lady Midnight as I love all your books! I loved Emma and Julian one of my favorite characters is Tiberius but I do have one question it was mentioned in Lady Midnight that Jem is no longer a Shadowhunter. Why? He is still Nephilim he still can bear marks right then why isn’t he a Shadowhunter. — emmacordeliacarstairs1” It was also mentioned in Clockwork Princess and City of Heavenly Fire. :) This isn’t a new thing about Jem — Jem falls into the same unusual category as Jocelyn, Clary’s mother. While Jem and Jocelyn are biologically Shadowhunters, they no longer consider themselves part of the Shadowhunter community. They have disavowed the laws and values of the Clave. They have each chosen to make their own path in life, apart from the militaristic culture they were raised in. They each have their own reasons for making this choice. Jocelyn went through hell as a young Shadowhunter with an abusive, manipulative husband, and the tragic fate of her family led her to decide that she wanted nothing to do with a life of demon-hunting. She went into hiding, and when she was found again she briefly helped out with the Mortal War, but then departed Shadowhunter society again. Jem has already given many more years of service to the Clave than most Shadowhunters do, as a Silent Brother. When he was changed, stripped of that which made him one of the Gregori, Jem was explicit in his desire to create a life apart from Shadowhunter society. From the epilogue of Clockwork Princess: “I do not think I will go to Idris, or to an Institute anywhere,” he said, after a pause so long that she felt as if her knees might give way under her if he did not speak. “I don’t know how to live in the world as a Shadowhunter without Will. I don’t think I even want to. I am still a parabatai, but my other half is gone. If I were to go to some Institute and ask them to take me in, I would never forget that. I would never feel whole.”. These are their choices to make. There are some Nephilim who will disrespect them for it, but there are also those who will honor their choices and admire them for standing up for what they believe in. It is also the case that they are both heroes — Jem for all his service and the things he’s done in Last Hours and Infernal Devices, and Jocelyn for hiding the Mortal Cup from Valentine. As veterans and heroes, it’s possible they get more leeway than most to be trusted to leave the Shadowhunters but keep their secrets.
The Shadowhunter Chronicles: Characters ↳ Jocelyn Fairchild (The Mortal Instruments): A name you choose for yourself could tell you the story of what your destiny will be, and who you intend to become.“ — “Call me Fray. Let me join together the names of the Fairchilds, my lost family, and the Grays. Because you are….a family friend.”
//Wow hello I keep forgetting about this website and then CC puts out a new book. An endless cycle. Anyone still here?
Izzy: You sound like your mother.
Clary: Sometimes she’s right. Truth is, she was almost always right. And my life would probably be improved if I listened to her more often.
