it is frustrating to be in a fandom where an interesting and narrratively significant female character seems to be widely popular, only to realize that actually most people are just going "wow cool sword girlboss" and not um. thinking about her point of view or internal life at all
Okay I saw another tik tok about prince Will and his knight Mike… and this is all fine and dandy but it also implies the existence of crown prince Jonathan.
So now imagine, Crown Prince Jonathan, a shy and gentle soul that prefers to quiet to loud balls and would rather wield his words than his sword unless it is a last resort. People in the court fear he is too sensitive to be a good ruler.
Nancy a young knight who wishes to be a high ranking officer in the queens army despite the fact that there are very little women in the field. However she is ambitious and will stop at nothing to prove her skill.
Jonathan who is the victim of an attack because duh he’s the crown prince and a knight steps out from the shadows and single-handedly saves the day.
Jonathan is profusely thankful to this knight and then the knight takes off her helmet to reveal a flowing mane of curly brown hair… boom it’s Nancy.
For Jonathan it’s love at first sight.
Queen Joyce after hearing this assigns Nancy to be Jonathan’s personal guard, since the person who orchestrated the attack is still on the loose.
Nancy who hates this because she didn’t become a knight just to follow the prince around, feeling like she’s been benched. When another assassination attempt occurs she decides that she will single-handedly solve the case to prove her skills are more valued elsewhere.
Her only obstacle? It is now her duty to follow said prince around, when Jonathan realizes what she’s trying to do he decides to work with her…
Okay guys I just saw a TikTok of lesbyler meeting og universe byler but imagine. Michela somehow ends up in Mike and Wills dimension through upside down shenanigans and they’re trying to figure out how to send her back.
Michela who has been suppressing her feelings for her Willow and immediately projects them onto Will because there is finally a sociably acceptable version for her.
Micheal who has been suppressing his feelings for his Will, getting insanely jealous seeing how Michela practically throws herself at Will.
Will who recognizes Michela’s flirting and is quietly heartbroken because finally a version of Mike wants him but he can never want her back.
When Michela tries to make a move Will turns her down and hesitantly confesses that he’s gay. Michela who bursts out into tears when she hears this and asks him shakily, “You don’t think it’s wrong?” And then confesses that she’s really in love with Willow.

The way every single character was mistreated in season 5 needs to be studied. It genuinely feels like the duffers put the past scripts into an AI and asked it to write season 5.

People who say Nancy should've joined the army after the events of the show are baffling to me.
Like, yes, she's good with guns, but have we forgotten the plot that much? Imagine Nancy working for the same government that covered up the death of her best friend.
Reducing Nancy to a badass who loves guns feels so cheap. Like she doesn't love guns at all; she's a traumatized teenager who realized she was good at shooting and she could use it to protect the people she loves. The one time she wasn't there for her best friend, she died, and that haunts her to this day.
She's not fearless. She's so terrified of losing someone else that she would rather be the one to die. That's why she comes in guns blazing.
