new cursed oak harp and shovel emojis are about to be fucking huge with an incredibly specific demographic of women
count dracula? uhhh ok. one
🧛 nathing vrong vith me
Mina mina mina
i would make the worst kind of vampire because i would always be like "hey check out how long i can go without blood lol" as a form of guilty self-harm poorly disguised as discipline and then black out and binge-slaughter a bunch of people, only reinforcing my conviction that i need to develop better self control by starving myself as often as possible
had a fucked up dream i had a book that turned out could never be read again the same as the first time because each reread the characters became incrementally more aware that the events of the book had happened before and they were “reliving” it and i reread enough times that they became self aware, figured out they were in a book, acknowledged me as the reader, and some lost their minds or had existential crises, became violent to other characters or themselves, some begged me to never stop reading or they ceased to exist and others begged me to end it all stop reading and keeping them trapped in the endless loop of torment, and the literal only way to get the book back to its first run was to hand it off to someone else to read for the first time and for some reason i physically couldn’t tell anyone about it so i’d have to just hope whoever i gave it to would only read it once and i could never open the book again to check if they were okay and back to normal because i was terrified of fucking them all up again :(
And while I’m transcribing Klinger’s notes, I have to share this one with Tumblr as well. For…you know…reasons:
“Although literary critics have minutely examined this scene from the perspective of sexual fantasies (and see homoerotic elements in Dracula’s claiming Harker for his own), there seems little reason - in the light of later developments - to see the scene as other than the establishment of a pecking order with respect to food source. Of course, Harker has no idea that he is viewed as a ‘winepress,’ and so, putting the scene in the only perspective he can understand, he recounts accusations about ‘love’ and ‘kisses.’ It is an interesting comment on Harker’s character (and perhaps his prior experiences) that despite the warnings of the Transylvanian natives, he appears to be readier to imagine homosexual relations with Dracula than vampiric relations.”

me when i receive a letter from my close and personal friend mina murray
dracula daily is the best way to read dracula for many reasons but primarily because the letters from lucy and mina getting delivered right to my inbox feels like a group chat. me and the girls discussing and analyzing our relationships while lamenting the fact that we aren’t in person because long distance debriefs aren’t the same. is this dracula by bram stoker or an actual conversation I had with my best friend this week? who’s to say!
big fan of when a character is dead and the narrative frames them in a very angelic, soft, gentle manner but then it turns out not only are they still alive (plot twist) but theyre alive in the most gruesome and horrific way. your loving kind mentor who motivates you to fight in their memory came back wrong and theres blood and dirt under their fingernails from clawing they way out of the grave.
I think when we imagine our favorite characters as parents we all need to think a little more about the ways they'd inevitably fuck up and be bad at it. It's fun to imagine the specific ways they'd fuck up and be bad at it and sometimes fix that (in the moment or over time) but also sometimes never really fix it because parents are people and people are messy. -ducking tomatoes- I swear It's fun to think about this!! For a little added flavor, you can even map out their own childhoods and how their experiences with their own parents would affect how they raise their children. We need to start writing fanfiction about terrible family outings that end in unresolved hurt and silence. All hail family angst.
A design for Mina Harker in the early chapters of Dracula.
showing someone something that's layered and well-constructed for the first time sucks because every five minutes you have to stop yourself from saying "daaaaaamn with the context you don't have this moment kinda goes hard though"
