Here's another dinosaur sculpt: Skorpiovenator!
So I really like dinosaurs and have a small collection of plastic renditions of them (trying not to say toys đ ) and also have made some sculpts of them. They are totally amateur but I like doing them. Here's the latest, a Camptosaurus.
Here it is: Best stuff first
Extremely handy if you follow a lot of people and hate missing anything good.Â
Best Stuff First moves the best stuff on your dashboardâmhm!âright up to the top.Â
Itâs rolling out this week on iOS and Android, and comes with this Help Center article. Â
Thanks! âïž
Headâs up folks! Tumblr decided to shit the bed and go non-chronological!
This bullshit is being rolled out this week and itâs going to be default!
This is dangerous and manipulative.
The main reasons for these âalgorithmsâ that Instagram, Facebook and Twitter have rolled out are manipulating what people see. Content they want you to see gets pushed to the top, anything threatening to their interests gets quietly tossed to the bottom so youâll be too tired or bored to see it.
I can see this seriously messing with the livelihood of artists, so please reblog if you can!
This may be part of why I get people saying I donât come up on their dash anymore. I wouldnât put it past tumblr to exclude nsfw blogs from this feature.
My daily follower count dropped down to like 6 people a day. Tumblr is definitely trying to push nsfw blogs under the rug.
iïž hate hate hate hate hate this. please turn this off guys itâs not helpful.
i think the update that rolled out this feature has also been fucking with activity graphs? iâm having a similar issue as @floatycrownythingz where my activity plummeted a few days ago, but when i actually look at the notes/followers being accumulated in each 2-hour period, itâs way more than the graph shows later on
Yea this shit low key trash.
Some guy just mansplained space to an actual fucking astronaut.
tfw correcting misinformation is written off as mansplaining
tfw when idiots on tumblr who know jack shit about thermo assume the dude is âcorrecting misinformationâ when actually heâs dead ass wrong. âSpontaneousâ is a scientific term - it means a reaction with a negative Gibbâs free energy, i.e. a reaction that will occur without an external energy input, i.e. water boiling because of low atmospheric pressure. Spontaneous is absolutely the correct term for what sheâs observing, and that is âsimple thermoâ, and this is âcorrecting misinformationâ.
Have a nice day.
hope your pets stay healthy in 2017
I almost didnât blog this and felt guilty
Not risking it
The worst part of Pride each year is riding the subway late at night and seeing the gay guys, mostly the ones riding by themselves, slowly take off their rainbow stickers and beads and what-not in preparation for their walk alone in their neighborhood, doing their best to prevent the off-chance of being jumped. I saw one guy with a flag in his bag turn it upside down so it wouldnât poke out.
So yeah, fuck that heterosexual pride day nonsense.
This is the saddest god damn thing Iâve read in awhile, mostly because I literally remember peeling my stickers off on my way home too for this reasonÂ
Two years ago in Budapest the organizers didnât let anyone leave the place until we dropped all the rainbow flags into the trash cans and popped out the balloons, because people were waiting outside the cordons to get and beat us. Sadly the situation was so bad that even without the flags, we couldnât leave for a good two hours after the event anyway. There were hundreds of people just waiting to be able to get home safely, but we simply couldnât walk out of the place because of those assholes. In the end, the police made us leave in smaller groups via subway. They closed down the stations closest to ours, so we could avoid running into the people waiting us outside. This was in Budapest, in Europe, 2014. I hate this world we live in.
And this is why #heterosexualpride makes me so angry.
I know this kid who was leaving Pride, trying so badly to rub off the rainbow paint on his cheek because his dad was abusive and didnât know he was gay or at pride. I was on the bus with him and he was close to tears, he cheek red, and I had my make up bag and there was a packet of wet wipes, so I went up and sat next to him and helped him rub it off. Weâve been best friends ever since.
Heterosexual pride my ass
This is so fucking important. There are way too many human beings that are so ashamed of who they are because people just canât accept diversity and itâs so sad. you canât be fucking butt hurt when people celebrate minorities and people that have been suppressed, rather than groups that are wildly accepted and loved. Donât try and take away from someoneâs fucking happiness. Check. Your. Fucking. Privilege.
How to Help the Victims of the Sierra Leone Mudslide.
For those who donât know:
The death toll from a devastating landslide and flooding that hit Sierra Leone earlier this week has risen to nearly 500, according to hospital officials.
More than 600 people remained missing on Sunday, with rescue officials warning that the chances of finding survivors are decreasing each day. The death toll earlier stood at 450.
One of Africaâs worst flooding-related disasters in years occurred when the side of Mount Sugar Loaf collapsed on Monday after heavy rain, burying parts of Regent town on the outskirts of the capital, Freetown.
Churches across the country held special services on Sunday in memory of those killed.
Authorities this week buried 461 bodies in quickly-dug graves in the nearby Waterloo cemetery.
Six days after the mudslide, at least 10,000 people have already been forced from their homes.
The government has called for the evacuation of another 10,000 people living on an unstable hillside in Freetown, where a large crack has opened.
Iâm sure this list will be far from complete but here are some ways that you can help the victims of this disaster:
HELP SIERRA LEONE MUDSLIDE SURVIVORS
Help victims of mudslides and floods in Sierra Leone
Concern Worldwide is helping with the relief efforts, you can read about it and find a link to their donation page here.
Heart Shaped Hands is raising money which you can find here, and Kei Kamara, a Sierra Leone footballer and president of the organization, will match all the donations you make.
The Red Cross has been aiding Sierra Leone this past week, you can read about what theyâve done here and there is a donation link at the bottom of the page and here is the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society.
Sierra Leone Mudslide Relief Fund
Freetown Flood Disaster Emergency Appeal
Schools for Salone is also taking donations for the mudslide victims, if you donate here make sure to specify you want to money to go to the flood victims in the comment box.
Things food snobs are wrong about
âOrganicâ isnât better for you or for the environment. It actually means nothing of any significance at best and is sometimes even the more wasteful, more hazardous option.
A shitload of ânaturalâ food including a lot of imported produce is grown and harvested through slave labor in inhumane conditions.
Pizza, fried chicken, french fries, fast food, candy bars and chips ARE nutritious. They are loaded with good things. Just because they have an abundance of excess fats and might not be healthy as a staple doesnât mean they are ânutritionlessâ or that their calories are âempty.â Those are hokey buzzwords pushed by the people in charge of how much you pay for the alternatives.
Eating healthier costs more. Much more. Looking down on people for their reliance on cheaper food is extremely classist and expecting everyone to be able to live off fresh veggies and cage-free meats is insultingly unrealistic in the modern world.
âProcessedâ literally only means the food went through some kind of automated process. This can be literally the exact same thing a human being would have done to the food for it to be labeled âunprocessed.â Being processed does not make something less healthy.
Chemicals with long, scary names are part of nature. An apple is full of compounds you probably canât pronounce. A shorter ingredients label only means they didnât bother listing all 300 things the product is actually made of and HAS to be made of.
Preservatives, artificial flavors and other additives are not the devil. Most are harmless and in general they are part of the reason you havenât already starved to death or died of a food borne illness.
MSG is not bad for you at all.
The fact that something might be made of âscrapâ meats like pig snouts or chicken necks only means one thing: that we didnât waste perfectly normal, edible meat.
I DONâT KNOW HOW I FORGOT THIS IN MY FIRST VERSION OF THIS POST BUT GMOâS ARE NOT DANGEROUS TO EAT. GMOâS ARE SAVING LIVES. YOUâVE ALREADY EATEN GMOâS BEFORE YOU EVEN KNEW THE TERM. ITâS FINE. EAT THEM.
It pisses me off when big time chefs go âguys do you not know what goes into canned meatballs? Theyâre disgusting!â yeah parts of the animal they donât use for anything else and also theyâre tasty fuck you
@lazysatyr wanted sources so here you go
Organic farms produce up to 25% less food for the same amount of land used as opposed to conventional modern farms, and almost never produce more food.
Organic farms also, due to the nature of organic food being more labor and resource intensive, rely strongly on slave and underpaid labor even in America.
It is harder to back the nutritional value of greasy foods, but typically known fatty foods, such as red meats, cheese, and various oils, are found in diets that are intentionally high in fat, but low in carbohydrates. THese are called ketogenic diets and oddly enough are considered quite healthy and good for weight loss.
The Harvard School of Public Health conducted a meta-analysis that found healthy eating habits cost about $1.50 more per day than if someone were not as health-conscious.
âProcessedâ is so vague and broad that you could define almost every food ever as processed unless you plucked it from the ground yourself.
Alpha-Linolenic-Acid, Asparagine, D-Categin, Isoqurctrin, Hyperoside, Ferulic-Acid, Farnesene, Neoxathin, Phosphatidyl-Choline, Reynoutrin, Sinapic-Acid, Caffeic-Acid, Chlorogenic-Acid, P-Hydroxy-Benzoic-Acid, P-Coumaric-Acid, Avicularin, Lutein, Quercitin, Rutin, Ursolic-Acid, Protocatechuic-Acid, and Silver are all chemicals found in apples.
Turns out excessive preservatives arenât super great for you. Traditional ways of preserving foods, such as pickling or dehydrating, arenât bad for you but things like nitrites in meat are.
However, artificial flavors are more often than not the exact same chemical one would find in nature, except synthesized in a lab. This means they can be produces in greater quantities and with less harm to the environment than by extracting them from natural sources. Again, there is no chemical difference whatsoever between natural and artificial flavors, the difference is only where they come from.
A horseâs worth of MSG injected into a mouse will cause health problems, but people are not mice and we donât inject it. No consistent negative health effects have been linked to MSG.
I could find no material that references pig snouts and chicken necks as any different from meat from the more commonly eaten parts of those animals. Most people use them in soups to make a stronger broth, since they do contain a lot of flavor despite not a lot of tangible meat.
GMOs have no negative health affects, as has been shown by countless studies for the past couple decades. Crops are genetically modified to allow for healthier alternatives to pesticides, high crop yields over a smaller area of land, and reduced consumption of water and fertilizer by the crops. GMOs are much better for the health of humans, the environment, and society as a whole in the long term.
Hey thanks! I didnât add sources to the original post just because I thought it was minor personal venting and not something that would get tens of thousands of notes.
Humpback whales and bottlenose dolphins are known to play together. Observed off the coast of Hawaii, whales lifted dolphins high into the air so the dolphins could use the whaleâs head as a slide back into the water. via tea_and_biology
Itâs ironic.
When I worked in fast food for minimum wage, they would yell at us and lecture us about âstealingâ fries and burgers (while we had to throw out TONS of food every day) as though the giant billion-dollar corporations of McDonaldâs and Sonic couldnât afford to give their employees something to eat (while not even paying us a living wage).
Now I work at an upscale restaurant (itâs fancy, like celebrities eat there fairly often) and not only do I make WAY better money but they give us 2 free meals a day (eaten on the clock) and theyâre GOOD. Today I got baked cod, spring rolls, rice pilaf, stir fry, and mashed potatoes and eggplant. Oh, and free espresso and juice. From this restaurant owned by a local man who is in no way a billionaire.
Obviously money is not the issue, valuing your employees as people is.
This needs all of the reblogs. Â All of them.
6 zoo myths that arent true
I really want to support these, but the problem with trying to communicate complicated topics through memes is that a lot of nuance gets lost. Which, unfortunately, leads to pro-zoo messaging that is equally misleading and potentially damaging to the publicâs understanding of modern zoos.Â
Zoos do still capture animals from the wild - very thoughtfully, and almost always with the express purpose of creating breeding programs. Some of the last Kihansi spray toads were collected from Tanzania shortly before they went extinct in the wild, but the Bronx Zoo has managed to reintroduce more than a thousand to their original range due to the wildly successful captive breeding program started with those wild-caught individuals. However, modern zoos no longer indiscriminately collect charismatic megafauna from the wild simply for the sake of exhibition.Â
Animals can and absolutely do get stressed by the presence of the public - it is really misleading to deny that. However, this occurs when exhibits are incorrectly designed or when the public is not behaving in an appropriate manner (e.g. banging on the glass, yelling). Modern zoos acknowledge that the public can stress animals out and respond accordingly, utilizing actions such as designing exhibits that give animals plenty of privacy, hanging visual barriers across viewing areas to give stressed animals a break, and monitoring and correcting inappropriate guest behavior.Â
Zoos are businesses, and businesses need to make money to survive - even nonprofit ones. Nonprofit businesses do not make profit that manifests as taxable income, but they do make a profit from their operations. Tax-exempt nonprofits use they money they earn to cover expenses or to fund other projects that are associated with the purpose of the organization; for modern zoos, this means profits pay for animal food, facility maintenance, staff salaries, new exhibits, educational programs, advertising, and more.Â
The most frequently repeated myth about zoo visits - that it has negative learning outcomes - Â comes from a misinterpretation of one specific study. Children who toured a zoo without a guide or educator in that study came away with incorrect information (a negative outcome because it was not what educators wanted them to learn) but children who toured the same zoo with an educator came away with strong positive (correct) learning outcomes. In my personal experience, this also holds true for many adults. The important lesson? Zoo guests who engage with the educational programming and signage at a modern zoo will learn about animals, but guests do not inherently absorb correct information about animals just by viewing them in a zoo.Â
Modern zoos are continually working to upgrade their exhibits to provide appropriate space and terrain for all of their resident animals - which means that improvement is a continued trend and that not all exhibits are going to be perfect at any given time. Many zoos still have exhibits that are not the ideal size or structure for optimum welfare for their animals due to quite a number of factors, including but not limited to not having the funding for a renovation, potential inability to transfer the animals elsewhere during construction, and institutional priorities about what animals need space improvements most urgently. Modern zoos are highly aware of any less than ideal exhibits and work hard to provide extra enrichment and animal care to balance it out and provide the best possible welfare for the animals who live in those spaces.Â
radical animal rights activists:animals are going extinct we HAVE to do something to save them!
accredited zoos and aquariums:*dedicate massive amounts of money to preserve endangered species in captivity so they can be saved and educates the public to their plight*
radical animal rights activists: no not that
I canât believe they oblitered straight men like that
