Sketches using traditional paintings as a base. I did about 50 small watercolors and 75+ Gelli prints this year so far. I finally scanned in those textures and paintings for other uses So I'm playing around with using the backgrounds to make combined work that feels more tangible to me. I'm working on some other ones but these ones feel like their going on the right direction.

A fun example of what you can do with a traditional background while working digital.

I'm pretty sure the original background is for sale on it's own. I scanned it in and used it as the base for a dragon I was working on.

Throwback: Chadwick from earlier this year. Sketch was done in ball point pen and then colored roughly in clipstudiopaint. Don't worry no candle men were harmed in the making of this character. He's still really fun to draw.

I was so excited when the lines didn't come out to thick on this guy. This one is 50% handmade paint as well which is cool.

I actually really enjoy doing watercolor on canvas. It has a different textured look to it that has always been appealing to me. The second one is actually one of my favorite little skulls out of that batch but the first came out really sweet. You can always ask me about what originals I have left to see if they would work in your home.

Mini-Watercolor Dreamscapes

Making these are really relaxing to me. it's the same process as the bigger ones. I'm just working a little smaller.

I got these boxes years ago to make art kits and never got to use them. I wanted to see if they could still be used for demos and they work out great for that. Each box is coated with Daniel Smith Watercolor Ground. I lined them in Washi tape for decoration and to make the edge of the transparent ground easier to see.

This was really fun for me to work on at the time and I know exactly how I want to complete this piece.

I'm revisiting this today to decide if it's finished or not. Doing Some digital for a bit. I spent a few days working mostly traditionally. I think I want this character to kind of be the center of the Jester characters or I could make a clown sticker pack. I think that could be fun actually.
