Today's wasp of the day is the yellow-headed hairy flower wasp (Scolia verticalis)!

This wasp can often be found rooting around in mulch or woodchips in search of beetle grubs to lay her eggs on. Her other extracurriculars include slurping nectar from native flowers (and by proxy pollinating them) and finding a nice stick or reed to curl up around or dangle off of.

Rabbit botfly, Cuterebra buccata, Oestridae, Diptera. Found in the United States.

Bot flies are parasites of mammals; the rabbit botfly, as its name suggests, parasitizes rabbits specifically. Female botflies will deposit their eggs either directly onto the host or on a vector insect which then visits the animal and unwittingly deposits them. After hatching, the larvae burrow into the skin of the host and feed on living tissue. Over a period of weeks, the larvae mature, eventually emerge from the host, and drop to the ground where they burrow into the soil to pupate.

I made a tileset for RPG Maker!

It's 16x16 resolution with a bright and simple style for grassland and ruins/dungeons, including stuff for both exterior and interior scenes. Specifically compatible with MV, MZ, VX, and VX Ace. Might work for other versions too but I can't test those.
