just found out that yesterday kim kardashianâs private jet produced 61 tons of CO2 emissions. over the last week drakeâs private jet flights produced 182 tons of CO2 emissions. like what is even the point any more
the average person produces 7 tons of CO2 in a year. it would take the average person 9 years to produce as much CO2 as kim kardashian did in 1 day, or 26 years to produce as much CO2 as drake did in 1 week. is there actually any point in trying to go vegetarian? or cycling to work instead of driving? we will never be able to undo the damage of just private jet emissions at this rate
So uh, this is how things have been going lately. I know you all know I have a land back fundraiser, but Iâve had to pause on pushing that because I have a much more urgent need. Please read below.
Iâm Lune G. and as you may know Iâm the main organizer for a Florida Land Back project. I started the gofundme for it at a point when I realized that given everything up against me as a Black autistic Femme domestic violence survivor, there was no way I was going to be able to raise the money to make the land purchase on my own.
Since then the continued and violent decline of the United States has thrown some severely destablizing challenges my way, time and time again knocking me down after the strenuous, continuous hard work Iâve been doing to establish myself and grow my business so that I can continue the organizational and community healing work I do. Each time I resolve to work harder to keep myself above water, but this has become completely unsustainable; it has become impossible for me, at the intersections I embody, to do more than just barely survive here.
With my rent over $2.4k and no affordable housing around me, with the rise of attacks on gender diverse people and people of global majority, with the increased shift of our government towards violence and extremism, another unforseen financial upset that threw my household into panic and me into survival mode was beyond stressful and a signal to me that a limit had been reached: I can no longer stay in the US.
In the meantime, shootings, climate crisis and economic instability have only made it clearer to me that I am making the right decision. The only issue is money- I have been working so incredibly hard on multiple businesses over the past years but inequity, the pandemic, and the cost of trauma recovery have keept me from saving as much as I would hope to. I have also not been able to afford insurance or basic healthcare for the last 8 years because itâs all too expensive.
I have currently already invested on my own into my expatriation process, but this has left me with just $55 in my account. I need your help.
Funds donated will help me recover from paying $600 for a plane ticket, $150 for relocation consultation, and $350 for my stay in the new country (currently not saying for security purposes) while I figure out where I will move. Then I will need to pay immigration services, rent, and to move my most necessary items thousands of miles.
Currently I am selling as many of my possessions as I can but I know it wonât be enough. I also need to leave ASAP for my safety and because staying here drains me of funds I hardly have and have to overwork to scrape together. My goal is to move from the US at the beginning of next year and when I apply for my residency I will be asked to prove a monthly income of over $2.6k so some of this fundraiserâs funds are also for making sure I maintain that goal and donât waste my chance (and the money spent) trying by not meeting this requirement.
Leaving the US will allow me to be somewhere safer, more affordable, with accessible healthcare. It is a *must* for me and I beg you to help me reach my goal.
Sincerely, thank you so much for reading. Thank you.
this 4th of july i would like to boost my tribeâs bee farm!! https://iowaybeefarm.com/ is their website! They sell honey, beeswax products, giant jars of bee pollen, lip balms and lotions!
pretty much everything is really cheap (much cheaper than it should be) and you can get a whole gift basket for 35 bucks!
Freedom of speech is a fiction sustained to foster docility in stable times but when this regime feels seriously threatened they will repress anyone who advocates retaliation against their cruelty. Her comments are completely warranted response to a violation of her human rights and only natural but the state will never accept the notion it has no legitimate right to exist or for its employees to be safe when they're complicit in evil deeds. Acting is all that matters not empty talking about acting if you absolutely must behave this irresponsibly at least use a VPN, TOR, and anonymous accounts.
the notification aspect of the lgbtq guide is specifically referring to trans kids in PE or overnight trips. not sure if there are other aspects of the guide tht affect all lgbtq students but this aspect is explicitly targetting trans kids
Looking into it, this happened because this district has been supportive of lgbtq kids, and last year the parents of a middle schooler sued because teachers called their kid by their preferred name and pronouns. Some horrible fuckers called the Child and Parental Rights Campaign got involved, and this directly led to the Donât Say Gay Bill.Â
So now this school district, which was previously looking out for trans kids, is being forced to deadname and misgender students who donât have parental approval, out students to their parents, and as mentioned above, notify parents not just if their kid is sharing a room or PE facilities with a trans kid, but any restrooms. So trans kids have to use a separate restroom or be outed to their entire community.
Yeah same. In less than 6 weeks Iâve seen Roe v Wade overturned, the paper thin separation between Church & State destroyed, Miranda rights eviscerated, legal rights for people facing capital punishment destroyed, voting rights curb stomped, open carry forced down peopleâs throats after multiple mass shootings, and I know Iâm forgetting a lot of stuff, but it feels like Iâve lived years in the past few weeks. The great American experiment feels like a fail.
to my fellow usamericansâŠ.in light of the supreme court overturning roe v wade, well known organizations like planned parenthood dont need your money right now - they have plenty - if youâre going to donate, donate to your local or state abortion funds
the national network of abortion funds allows you to split your donation between 91 abortion funds in the united states -Â it lists every fund your donation goes to and allows you to customize the amount you give to each fund
Planned Parenthood being well known does NOT mean PlannedParenthood does not need funds. One of many fights of the decade has been the dedicated effort by the right wing to strip away federal funding from Planned Parenthood. Donate where you can, and if you have funds to donate to Planned Parenthood, or if you were considering donating but then saw this post - DO still donate to Planned Parenthood, in addition to other places such as the national network of abortion funds.
Planned Parenthood provides essential reproductive healthcare at low cost to people across the nation, and they are under attack. Personally, I donated to both Planned Parenthood and the National Network of Abortion Funds this morning.
Planned Parenthood also has a separate legal and activism wing that has been actively fighting against TRAP laws targeting indie clinics, government funding for crisis pregnancy centers masquerading as actual health clinics, fetal heartbeat bills, limits on how far into a pregnancy you can get an abortion, and other laws restricting abortion and reproductive rights. That is where you ought to donate to Planned Parenthood right now, in addition to abortion funds, because thatâs the group that is going to fight antiabortion legislation.
This is not an either/or thing, people. It is going to take coordinated efforts from many organizations and thousands upon thousands of activists to reinstate our rights to bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom.
Maui is a hub for GMO research but Indigenous farmers are trying to bring back the abundant and thriving landscapes of their ancestors
Traditional Hawaiian farmers have to contend not only with historic drought, erratic rainfall and deadly natural pathogens but also the dominance of industrial agriculture and foreign capital in Hawaii. The state became the biotech GMO capital of the US after agrochemical transnationals were welcomed to open research fields with fewer restrictions on potentially toxic pesticides.
In Kekona and Kapuâs food forest in Maui there are no pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. Cover crops and tilling are also out. âTraditional farming is about facilitating natural processes in order to feed the soil so that the land can feed us,â said Kekona.
Indigenous farming practices in Hawaii are guided by the lunar cycle and wind patterns, knowledge which was also passed down orally over generations, and even documented in newspaper articles going back to the 19th century. These oral histories and archives have played a crucial role in how farmers like Kekona, who didnât grow up speaking the Hawaiian language due to forced assimilation policies, steward the land today.
The whole island was once a giant thriving food forest until colonial settlers in the 18th and 19th century stole the land, water and labor to create industrial monocrop plantations â mostly sugar and pineapples for export. This depleted the soil of its nutrients, carbon and water, and the Maui people of food and climate security.
âThe goal is to knock the empire down and replace those corporate ag guys with something more environmentally sustainable which reflects our values,â said Kekona, who is part of the Indigenous sovereignty movement reconnecting Hawaiians with their lands and traditions.
Self-managed abortion (SMA) with pills is very medically safe and effective throughout early pregnancy, but there is a significant risk of criminalization in many U.S. states. While it is impossible to fully eliminate the risk of criminalization when having or planning to have an abortion at home, t
Leave no online footprint of searches or purchases. Digital Defense Fundâs abortion privacy guide is your go-to resource for this. Using private browsers, two-factor authentication, encrypted messaging, strong passwords, etc. is critical. Google searches have been presented as evidence in an SMA trial before. Do not leave a digital trail.
Use the medications properly to prevent interactions with healthcare providers. The pills are very effective, but they have to be used right. Carefully follow the instructions provided on the How to Use Abortion Pill website. Note that misoprostol tablets should always be taken by dissolving them under the tongue. Do NOT insert misoprostol vaginally if you are self-managing an abortion. While this is medically safe, it can leave incriminating pill remnants that can be detected in the vagina during a pelvic exam if you end up needing to seek medical care.Â
If itâs not an emergency but you need expert health advice, use a free calling service like Google Voice to call or text the Miscarriage + Abortion Hotline at 1-833-246-2632. Medical complications are very uncommon with abortion pills, but theyâre not impossible. The M+A Hotline is safe to use and is staffed by trustworthy clinicians who volunteer their time to help those who choose SMA. Do not use your own phone number to call as this will create a record that is visible to your cell service provider.Â
Donât disclose any information about SMA to emergency room staff if you do need to seek medical care. This is how most people who are arrested for SMA are reported. Healthcare providers are almost always who calls the police in cases of SMA criminalization. Contrary to popular belief, HIPAA does not protect your private health information from being shared with police if you are suspected of doing something that could be considered a crime. If you believe you need to seek urgent medical care, do not hesitate to go. Say âI think Iâm having a miscarriageâ and provide your symptoms. Do not mention any use of or purchase of abortion pills. There is no widely available test to detect misoprostol in your bloodstream. If you do not disclose it, there is no way for a medical provider to tell the difference between a medication abortion and a spontaneous miscarriage.
Do not talk to the cops. Period. Do. Not. Talk. To. The. Cops. If you are questioned by police you should state, âI am exercising my right to remain silent, and I wish to speak with an attorney.â Do not speak again or nod in response to a question. Contact the Repro Legal Helpline as soon as possible for expert legal advice: 1-844-868-2812. Do not agree to questioning or speak to any law enforcement official without a lawyer present.
