I started a BA degree in photography at the age of 27, after setting up several business but not really feeling passionate about what I was doing. I worked in different fields of photography after graduating but my main passion was documentary and found it hard to make a living from that, so I set up a studio and concentrated on studio work for a several years, and did my own work in my spare time, this led to a self published book titled Work play and no rest, which documented childhood in third world countries and tried to make a difference by donating 20% of the sales to a couple of orphanages. In March 2012 due to a brawl in a bar in Central London and after being assaulted by the doorman I but ended up in prison for a period of two and a half years. This had been the biggest blow to my being, but I took up painting as a form of escapism from the monotonous and tedious regime of prison life, and used the medium as a way to mentally, leave the compounds of my 12x 6 feet cell, by submerging myself on the work at hand. I looked into thoughts, feelings, emotions, conflicts and desires that I experience each day of my two and a half years served in over crowded and basic conditions of the English prison system. I produced around sixty paintings using the prison blankets and have put a HMP clothing tag stating where they were produced on each as one is tagged once in the system. It has become my new passion and a new story telling medium.
