his back tensed slightly. the fair. what happened at the fair? heâd really like an answer to that himself. âlike uh- what i saw or⊠â what was he supposed to say? that he watched bez die and carried his body into his truck and then into his house only for the kid to end up⊠whatever the hell he was now? that this was not the first weird shit dean had seen in this town? no, none of that was going to go over well.
almost as soon as his body language changed, julia realized maybe she shouldâve been gentler about asking. what had happened was so bizarre and tragic, and there were still so many unknown factors. frankly, she was still coping with the fact that she very well couldâve been left for dead. âiâm sure there are other reporters whoâre more desperate for the credit. I just...am hoping to get a few opinions, set the record straight. because itâs a scary time for all of us.â she worked hard to keep her voice even, setting her pencil down and wringing her hands nervously. âif youâd rather we talk about something else, if youâre not comfortable...itâs fine with me.â
âso i was reading this article in the crier and-â nova opened the paper to reveal a huge missing piece. âapparently my cat decided to eat part of the page. i can only assume it had a picture of an animal on it. or maybe food. either way, do you have another copy?âÂ
"maybe it was a tunafish ad. i mean, if I was a cat, thatâs what Iâd go after.â julia scratched at a nearly unreachable spot on the back of her neck with a pencil, surveying the space left by novaâs cat. âof course, yeah, no worries. yâwant more than one?"
âhere yâgo!â julia set down the bag of six glazed donuts sheâd grabbed for lee. it was just after her interview with dean, and she was definitely feeling a mix of emotions--too much to process, especially when she knew lee and dean had some sort of history. so, sheâd rely on lee to take her mind off it with art. âyour coffeeâs still hot--I almost burned my nail polish off, Iâm pretty sure. we can talk for a bit, unless you wanna get straight to the dart throwin, balloon poppinâ, paint explodinâ mess. are you sure this is a good space for it?â she tilted her head curiously at her friend.
âan interview that lets me to eat at the same time is already doinâ better than usual,â he grinned, eating some of his bacon. âdonât worry, i have plenty of time. but we can still do breakfast again. and donât worry about payinâ-â he leaned in closer toward her. âthey donât let me pay for anythinâ. i think the mayor set up a runninâ tab for me throughout the whole town. that or iâm just extremely attractive.â he leaned back again. âmaybe both, i dunno,â he winked. Â
âoh!â julia blinked in surprised, propping her chin in her hand. the way dean so easily suggested doinâ breakfast again made her heart leap, which she wasnât sure she liked or hated at this point. no, julia, you gotta stay cool. âthat sounds nice. i mean, free food whenever you want. i definitely wouldnât get tired of that.â she ran her tongue across her lower lip, cheeks flushing as she made eye contact with dean.  âyâdonât need me to tell you youâre handsome, though Iâm certain itâs nice to hear. much as I wish we were doing a full profile on you, Iâd like to get your take on what happened the night of the fair, if thatâs okay?âÂ
âhi! thanks for meeting me here.â  julia smiled politely up at dean. she had to remind herself for the millionth time to be freakinâ professional --her boss was counting on her, so it didnât matter how handsome dean hollis was. she had to stick to the facts. fact one: their meeting place was at the falls diner, where...inevitably, someone would come up to them and fawn all over dean (much like she was internally at the moment, but that was irrelevant).  âiâll try not to take up too much of your time, and if I do, then your next breakfast is on me. deal?â
( cierra ramirez, human, she/her & cisfemale ) is that ( out here on my own ) by ( irene cara ) playing? ( julia mendez ) must be nearby! Â heard folks say the ( twenty three ) year old ( journalist ) was at the thanksgiving fair, ( eating a candy apple ) when chaos ensued. during the glitch, ( she barely escaped getting decapitated ).
here we have ur basic average girl (did u start singing the kim possible theme song? yes? good.)
yâknow, its fine, she doesnât have any superpowers. her writing speaks for her most of the time, and sheâs not like, the Worst person to be around, except if youâre in the middle of a whole crisis, sheâll most likely have reporter brain instead of human being who cares about peopleâs feelings brain on. super self aware. always has a notepad and pencil with her.
despite the fact that sheâs socially out-of-tune sometimes, she can actually be a really good friend. she remembers the smallest things. she wonât admit it out loud, but she loves human contact and sheâs a big olâ softie. misses her parents like hell but doesnât really talk about them bc sheâs That hyperfocused on other things.Â
her only major connection to the glitch was that she just BARELY escaped getting hacked. to this day she still has nightmares about it but instead of dealing with it, she throws herself into other peopleâs problems
she moved out of her parentâs house two years because she felt suffocated and now sheâs just like, not dealing with the thing that happened to her
itâs escapism, i guess?? honestly, sheâd love a roommate tho, because as thick-skinned as sheâd like to pretend she is, she gets lonely.
on average she maybe gets like, sixteen hours of sleep a week, but sheâs working on increasing that number. can be found at the falls diner sucking down heckinâ coffee when sheâs not workinâ at the town crier.
*rachel berry vc* there is NOTHING IRONIC ABOUTÂ JOURNALISM!!!!!!!!!
sheâll be hella appreciative if you bring her french toast and strawberries thatâs all iâm saying.
i donât remember if i have any set connections for her mostly bc iâm as scattered as she is sometimes so iâm down for anything but also consider: the sugar to her spice, the person who carries her home when sheâs passed out at work or at the diner, hell even at the library. iâm a HUGE sucker for the opposites attract trope.
this intro is worse than casperâs and a literal ice cube just crashed in the freezer so iâm spooked lmao as always, if you wanna get to know this smol truffle, hmu! <3
