seeing straight men be disgusted by booktok smut recommenders has actually radicalized me to the side of booktok smut recommenders. girls your taste may be atrocious but i will never disparage you for exposing mainstream discourse to the concept of soaking through your underwear. spent my whole life listening to men talk about penises it’s about time they get jumpscared by women talking about pussy in crude detail on social media. go forth and goon my warriors
before you comment “but booktok is soooo cringe and problematic :/” consider that cringe and the quality of booktok in general has nothing to do with my point here. if you just want to complain about how bad sj maas books are or write a nuanced critique of how sexual violence is portrayed in romance fiction you can make your own post to do that. this post is about fighting for women’s rights to be horny and also to have bad taste
Last one is DEFINITELY MY FAVORITE ❤️.

A List of All the Clothing Items Harry Potter Likes
(a list of all the clothing he doesn't like would be much, MUCH longer)
1. The Weird Sisters' Concert Outfits
"black robes that had been artfully ripped and torn"
2. Bill Weasley's Whole Look
Bill was — there was no other word for it — cool. He was tall, with long hair that he had tied back in a ponytail. He was wearing an earring with what looked like a fang dangling from it. Bill’s clothes would not have looked out of place at a rock concert, except that Harry recognized his boots to be made, not of leather, but of dragon hide.
A very unusual level of detail from Harry (normally only present when describing outfits he hates.) He's paying attention to the specific material of Bill's shoes, and seems to be drawn to a rock-and-roll sort of look.
3. The Cursed Opal Necklace
a magnificent necklace of opals, Caution: Do Not Touch. Cursed
4. Madame Maxime's Opal Necklace/Ring Set
many magnificent opals gleamed at her throat and on her thick fingers.
I guess Harry likes opals.
5. The Bulgarian Minister's World Cup Look
splendid robes of black velvet trimmed with gold
Harry has been known to be a bit of a magpie when it comes to gold things. Like snitches, and that solid gold cauldron Hagrid wouldn't let him buy, and that solid gold set of gobstones Hagrid also wouldn't let him buy.
6. Yaxley's Ministry of Magic Robes
magnificent, sweeping robes, which were embroidered with much gold thread.
+
a long-haired wizard wearing magnificent robes of black and gold
Yaxley's robes are apparently identical to the Bulgarian Minister's robes.
7. Mrs. Weasley's Gold Necklace
spectacular golden necklace
he likes gold things okay
8. Dumbledore's Start-of-Term-Feast Look
magnificent deep green robes embroidered with many stars and moons.
9. Dumbledore's Purple Velvet Dressing Gown
He was wearing a magnificently embroidered purple-and-gold dressing gown over a snowy-white nightshirt
10. Dumbledore's Purple Velvet Suit (Honorable Mention)
“Nice suit, sir,” said Harry, before he could stop himself, but Dumbledore merely chuckled
Honorable mention because of Harry not meaning to say that, and Dumbledore thinking the exchange is funny. Young!Dumbledore is wearing "flamboyant" head-to-toe plum velvet, and Harry is either being sarcastic, or trying very very hard not to say, "That's gay."
11. Slughorn's Funeral Look
magnificent, long, emerald green robes embroidered with silver.
12. Draco's Dark Green Robes
a handsome set of dark green robes that glittered with pins around the hem and the edges of the sleeves
SO WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED?
~ Harry's style profile is either "rock star" or "elf prince"
~ He likes shiny things, and appreciates jewelry
~ I think his favorite color might be green?
~ Dumbledore can put together an outfit.
~ Harry should get some black-and-gold robes.
~ Harry prefers more of an "elf prince" look on Draco

madoc really despises cardan and likely knows his feelings for jude
nicasia is just plain awful for what she did to cardan but especially for her role in judes undersea kidnapping
cardan likes handholding (especially with entwining fingers)
foreshadowing of tsh oak is here, but he and jude do have the tight closeness of siblings
jude and cardan both have experiences of powerlessness and love irony that make them understand each other well (soulmate energy)
suren did declare loyalty to the high king and queen so i wonder what will become of this in tpt (note: it wasn’t really discussed?)
when talking about jude cardan uses a lot of lasting words ( ex: “forever undone” and “yours it shall ever remain”)
jude now recognizes which of cardan’s smiles come from nerves <3
jude has nightmares of the undersea
balekin represents a possible future for cardan just as madoc represents a possible future for jude, they try to actively avoid this.
both of their “endings” represent their growth, jude is willing to give up power for love/family and cardan allows his subjects to choose him in love rather than duty.
both judecardan love confessions are tailored both to the fears of the one confessing and the one being confessed to.
the cardan novella starts with him hoping as a child that someone cared enough to find him and ends with him KNOWING jude will find him.
Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for April! A scene from The Wicked King by Holly Black, Cardan and Jude pledging their troth.
This scene was nondescript on the type of flowers that were blooming in the king's chambers as they were professing their vows to each other. But given how they were both adamant that their marriage would be utilitarian and short lived, I feel like the room blooming over head was a sign that it was more permanent than they realized, hence the wisteria and its meaning. 🤭
Friendly reminder that Jude loves Cardan as much he loves her <3
Add realism to your fantasy stories by having characters from different backgrounds struggle to pronounce each others' names.
"My name is [low guttural sound] but I don't want to hear you butcher it. So you may call me She Who Arises With The Cold Mountain Sun."
"...Is that what your name really means? All that in just one word?"
"Yes. If you stress the wrong syllable it comes out as 'She Who Coldly Wakes Up The Mountain Sun', or 'The Cold Woman Who Wakes The Mountain Sun', and you will not call me that."
"Oh, huh. Could we just call you Mountain Sun, for short?"
"Hmh. It's boastful, almost bordering on blasphemy, but it is flattering. I accept it."
i'm still mad about that post thats like "humans USED to be able to memoriize long epic poems, but we no longer have Bards so our memories arent as good" boy shut the fuck up. a good chunk of people i went to high school with had the entirety of hamilton memorized for fun and they weren't even autistic.
They said she was cruel because she’d been harmed in the past. They claimed she was cold because she just hadn’t met the right fellow to warm her. Anything to soften her edges and sweeten her disposition—and what was the fun in that? Zoya’s company was like strong drink. Bracing— and best to abstain if you couldn’t handle the kick.

NESTFEST DAY 2 – "After tomorrow ends, we’ll all return to our everyday lives. And we’ll work hard on our own and when the time comes, I promise we’ll be back together like today."
MY HEART
Imagine a film where, for every story moment in the plot, there are two or more different versions showing the scene from different perspectives and focusing on different characters.
For example, maybe there's an explosion kicking off the action of the plot. One version of the scene is a family in the suburbs having a pleasant time when they hear the distant explosion and rush outside to see the smoke rising from the direction of the city. "Oh no! [Family member] was in the city today. What if they're hurt?" Then the second version of the scene is from the perspective of that family member who's doing stuff in the city when they're caught up in the blast and buried in rubble. Or there might be a third version of the scene about a firefighter who gets called in to the scene of the disaster and needs to help calm someone who's trapped under rubble while they dig them out. Etc.
When you start watching the film, you don't know what story you're going to get, but these scenes can be combined in various ways so that you might be watching a couple on the brink of divorce remembering why they love each other as they come through a disaster, or you might be watching an action story about a plucky firefighter worried about their capabilities and rising to the challenge, or... There could be hundreds of potential versions of the film made by combining these scenes in different ways - some very similar but with slight changes to nuance based on a couple of key scenes, and some wildly different.
Whatever decides which version to show this time has various probably settings so some versions are more likely than others and there's a super rare "villains version" which shows the perspective of whoever was responsible for the explosion and gives their story in a way that makes them understandable/sympathetic to some extent by focusing on their reasons for doing it and the way it impacts them, rather than the people who got hurt. Like maybe they didn't mean the explosion to be so big and only one specific person was meant to get hurt, and they feel terrible about the fact innocent people were, and seeing the story from their perspective, the audience starts to feel bad for them - when in another version of the story, they were just "generic bad guy".
I know this will probably never be made because it would be so much more expensive to shoot and edit together all the different versions - never mind create the mechanism for picking which one to show on any given play through. But I still love the concept.
Cherry Wine: On Female Anger
First of all, if you haven’t read it here’s the rundown:
Seraphine is pursuing her own solo music career after the events of the ALL OUT K/DA tour, and has signed with Dynasty Records, but plateaus until her current manager is replaced with one Renata Glasc. With a reputation for burning out as many stars as she raises up, and with Seraphine’s subtle temper rising to the fore, the pair butt heads repeatedly before finding a mutual respect, and eventual romance.
If you’re into the K/DA-verse and want some Sugar Baby x Older Woman fic, this one might be for you, and as of today it is completed: Fic Link Here.
Now on to the retrospective. Some spoilers ahead.
It’s always kind of melancholy when I finish a longform fic and this one was literally novel-length. Renata/Seraphine is probably my crackiest crack ship, too, and it’s one that I literally created the tag for in AO3, so that’s another layer of feelings. With that said, Cherry Wine has been so much fun to write, and I can’t thank @moonwatcher13 enough for their own interest in it.
When I started writing Renata and Seraphine over in my Lightcannon series, Flashbangs & Frag Grenades, I hadn’t intended to spark a romance between the two, but the instant those two got on the page together, there was chemistry.
I realized that the ultimate core of both Seraphine and Renata, at least how I write them, is female anger. It’s a subject that’s almost taboo the world over. Women either aren’t allowed to be angry, or otherwise female anger is viewed with contempt or patronization. When I started writing Seraphine and Renata, I realized that these two characters were just…angry, They were so angry.
Seraphine was angry about inequality and the fact that hatred seems so much stronger than joy when it ought to be the other way around. Renata is just as angry about many of the same things, but that anger is tempered by her age. It’s turned cold and dark and bitter. Putting these two in the same room together was like a flashpoint for them both, where Seraphine’s bright fury reignited the cold embers of Renata’s heart, while Renata’s colder rage tempered Seraphine’s impulsiveness.
I saw so much of these two in each other, and it was really inspiring in terms of writing. Seraphine is often angry in Cherry Wine, but that anger isn’t necessarily destructive or irrational, and it feels like a lot of writers and even published authors sort of flounder when it comes to writing that. That’s what has felt so meaningful–if I had to choose a word–about writing Cherry Wine.
It feels like something that has something to say, and that appeals to me.
Anyway, these are just my thoughts on the story now that it’s finally come to a close. I always have a lot of thoughts on my stories by the end, and I wanted to share some of them with you in a retrospective. Thank you for listening and reading, and as always,
Cheers.
