Team Youth Awesomeness!
So last week Friday I started a new JY group! I was totally excited because my old JY group are now at Ruhi Book 2 level so I was fully missing doing JY activities.
They've named themselves "Team Youth Awesomeness". Totally cute. They came up with amazing rules of their own and I am already in awe of them!! Initially I was concerned about having a mixed boys and girls group, but they gel so well - I'm so glad I'm learning new things, and I get to fix up the mistakes I made with my first group, like not doing enough games or service activities etc. They've come up with a whole bunch of things they want to do (swimming, baking, soccer etc), but I'm just scared that I'll run out of ideas of games or things like that for them to do. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?
Hahahahah this feels like trying to do service projects with JY.
Dunno who did it but this is awesome - an animators' profile pic....

I think the big mistake in schools is trying to teach children anything, and by using fear as the basic motivation. Fear of getting failing grades, fear of not staying with your class, etc. Interest can produce learning on a scale compared to fear as a nuclear explosion to a firecracker.

Help!
Guys! I fully need help with this blog! I'm sad that it's lagging :( stuff is hectically busy and I my junior youth are now going through book 2! So I feel like a fraud running this hehehehee. (I totally wanna start up another junior youth group though.) I really would feel very bad if this blog project failed or died - Anyone wanna help with running the blog?
The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program is an endeavour that seeks to meet the particular needs or junior youth who are no longer children, while also not yet grown youth. Often, this group of youth is attributed with certain negative characteristics. The Empowerment Program approaches junior youth with the assumption that these negative characteristics are not a given reality of this age, but rather are a result of confusion on the part of society at large about how to attend to the true needs and potentialities of this population.
If one examines junior youth across nations and cultures, it becomes clear that an acute sense of justice, a deep sense of altruism, a longing to understand the forces at play in the world today, and a zeal for serving their community and the world are what truly characterize this age group. The blossoming intellect and spiritual awareness that are newly manifesting at this moment in a youth’s development are “gems of inestimable value” which, if nurtured in a coherent, genuine and loving way, can become a source of transformation in the identity of that youth and, when applied in the field of service, their community. The Empowerment Program seeks to create an environment in which this type of transformation can take place; one in which junior youth become champions of justice and builders of unity.

‘Do not allow apprehension and anxiety to take hold of you, nor can any calamity you may face perturb your hearts. Immovable as the mountain, resplendent as brilliant stars, you carry out your spiritual obligations, in the midst of the present turmoil, with steadfastness, devotion and utmost wisdom.’

“Tired of darkness” from the country’s frequent power outages, a team of teenage girls has developed solar-powered appliances and now sells them across Yemen, writes Nafeesa Syeed for Al-Monitor:
“In Yemen, we have abundant sun,” says Reem Rashed, 16, who works in the company’s human resources section. “We need to exploit solar power because it’s a favorable, free energy and it does no damage to Yemeni society.”

First meeting to begin our Milwaukie area JY groups. I’m so very excited and happy to be helping out with this!
Youth empowerment is so much fun. Especially, near a big city. I’m looking forward to our follow-up on Sunday and my eventual incorporation into the Carmel task force.
So much Service. =]
GOOD LUCK! Let us know how it goes!!

This feels like such a significant video to watch in respect to Junior Youth and the role of the Junior Youth animator....
Anyone have any JY stories to share?
