You really weren’t sure you could follow this tutorial of his.
“So you step back with one foot like this,” Lohen said, tilting his body with the backward movement of his leg. “Then you hold your hands like this. One by your chin, one in front of you. And when you go to throw a punch, you just—.” He pivoted on his right foot, launching the fist by his chin straight forward as his body snapped with the motion.
“Wham! Like that.” He grinned, placing his hand on his hip. “Easy enough, yeah?”
You felt a nervous sweat dot your brow. Wringing your fingers before yourself, you said, “Um, show me again?”
“Sure, sure. Step back like this…one fist to your chin, the other in front…then wham!”
The way Lohen’s fist punched through the air was already giving you a heart attack. You gawked at him when he started to bounce back and forth on his heels, explaining to you, “You can even throw a jab like this! Then a straight! Then a good old uppercut!”
His lithe body moved through the steps as your mind struggled to come to terms with them. Massaging your hands together, you winced when Lohen let out an excited laugh. His crimson eyes twinkled as they stared at you, a smirk pushing one corner of his lips higher than the other.
“Oh, don’t look so scared. It kinda turns me on.”
“Shut up,” you said, heat pooling in your cheeks. “I just don’t want to hurt you.”
“What? That’s, like, kinda the whole point.” He grinned, popping his eyebrows at you. “Come on, you know you wanna try it. Give it a go. Hit me!”
He spanned his arms out like he was waiting for a hug, but you knew Lohen better than to assume that. You probably would have preferred if he was in a snuggling mood, though, because you weren’t even sure how to approach the act of punching your boyfriend in the face.
“I don’t know,” you stammered. “It doesn’t really feel natural. Like…I don’t think I’d be able to hit you just because you asked me to.”
“Bun, you’re overthinking it.” He flapped his fingers inwards, towards himself. The smug grin on his face persisted when he said, “Just do it. Will it help if I tell you I want it?”
Not really, because you could already tell that’s what he wanted.
“Hm.” Lohen crossed one arm over his chest, the other coming up with his pensive fist. He rubbed his chin, observing you with a raised eyebrow as he continued to let out thoughtful hums. He raised one eyebrow, let it fall, then raised the other eyebrow, and let that one fall too.
“Stop doing that,” you mumbled. “It makes me uncomfortable.”
“Oh yeah?” Lohen asked, shifting his brows across his forehead again. “Does it make you mad?”
“Not mad, just uncomfortable—.”
“What if I burned down the library?” he asked chipperly. “Would that make you mad?”
“What?! I’d be devastated!” you shot back. “Lisa and I have spent so long arranging every text in that library! There’s centuries of knowledge in there! You can’t just go and burn it down!”
“Mm,” Lohen said, his teeth biting into his grinning lower lip. “I like it when you yell at me…but I’m afraid that won’t stop me from burning your precious books to the ground, sweetheart.”
“You’re not actually going to do something like that. I know you’re just saying that. R-right?!”
The words left your lips, but your brain was already fixated on an image of chaos. Lohen, sneaking into the Knights of Favonius library with a match in his hand, waiting for you to organize every last book return and label each new addition before casually setting the place ablaze.
Oh, that was definitely a possible outcome. Knowing him, he’d be so covert about it that you wouldn’t even notice until the whole place was nothing but ashes.
“You’re maaad,” he said in a sing-song voice. “So mad you could punch me. Right?”
“Are you trying to threaten me into beating you?!”
“Pft! Oh, come on, you know I’d never do that! It’s just a bit of light coercion.”
Was he bluffing or was he serious? Did you really want to wait around and find out?
“Hey, what was the name of that porn book you’ve been reading?” Lohen asked, tapping his chin. “The one from that series you’ve been waiting on for the past two years?”
Your cheeks smoldered into flames. Indignantly, you snapped, “Fate’s Glimmer is not a porn book! It’s a romantic tragedy that analyzes the conflicts between conquest and birthright—!”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” Lohen waved his hand dismissively, his smirk growing wider. “I’m pretty sure you left your porn book on my nightstand. Wouldn’t you just hate if something were to happen to it? I mean, you went and got the collector’s edition and all…” He clicked his tongue, shaking his head. “Waste of money if you ask me. Why read porn when you could just fuck me—!”
—WHAP!
Lohen’s head whirled from the impact of your fist against his cheek, his words struck dead on his tongue. Your knuckles protested with throbbing pain, but by the Archons if it didn’t feel good to wipe that smug smile off his face. It was one thing for him to burn down the library, but to incinerate Fate’s Glimmer: Collector’s Edition Vol. 24? He had gone too far!
“It’s a romantic tragedy!” you barked. “It's a brilliant analysis on how war impacts families and intimate relationships! Any explicit content is solely for the purpose of accompanying the plot, but you wouldn’t understand that, you…! You…! Ugh!”
Lohen’s mouth hung open, his eyes wide during your whole tirade. As you came down from your moment of fury, you quickly snapped back to your senses.
You had just punched Lohen in the face. Over a book. You assaulted your boyfriend; over a novel.
You winced. “I’m sorry—.”
“—fuck,” Lohen said over you, red seeping into his face. He tongued at the inside of his cheek, moaning. “Good job, Bun. Now do it again.”
“You are just so—!” Your hands curled up into fists before you let out a ragged sigh. “No, I’m not going to hit you again!”
His eyes turned half-lidded, a perverse smile settling across his lips. Slowly, he drawled, “Then I guess I’m gonna piss in your porn book.”
Before you could stop yourself, your body was launching across the room, barreling straight into his.
Lohen liked playfighting a bit too much. Maybe it was because you’d stand no chance against him in a real fight—and you wouldn’t ever be foolish enough to try. Since he couldn’t spar with you, he spent most of his time finding other ways to force you into a tussle.
His face loomed over yours, cackling.
“Hey, Bun! Remind me what the characters in your ‘romantic tragedy’ were doing in that last chapter you told me about?!”
You let out an anguished groan, heat bathing your cheeks as you stared into his mocking red eyes. Lohen laughed, his hands pinning your shoulders to the ground, and in a teasing voice asked, “Why the hesitation, sweetheart? I thought it was an analysis on war!”
“Ugh, screw you!” you spat, pushing up into his chest with the flat of your palms. “Corina and Zand finally reunited after a whole year! It’s only natural for there to be tension!”
“And what did they do during their glorious reunion? What’d they do with all that tension—huh, Bun? Enlighten me!”
You shoved your body weight forward, and even though he was far stronger than you, he pretended to flip onto the ground anyway. He grinned from ear-to-ear as you sat atop of him, your hands curled into the collar of his shirt.
“They’re in love!” you sputtered, the burning sensation in your face intensifying. “They haven’t seen each other in a year! It’s only logical they would…!”
“It’s only logical they would…!” he mocked in a high-pitched, girly voice. “Logical they would what, Bun? Do a little bit of this?!”
You yelped when he bucked his hips underneath you, sending you bouncing atop his lap as his laughter filled your ears. You pressed your hand to his mouth, trying to suffocate those uncontrolled chortles under your palm, but Lohen only moaned and bit you.
“Ow!”
“You like that, bunny?” he asked, his grin splitting his face in two. “You wanna bounce on me just like Corina bounced on Zand?”
“Stop!” you whined, stuck between a strange cross of irritated and horny. “You’re so annoying!”
“That didn’t sound like a no to me!”
His hips popped up into yours again, the bulge in his trousers meeting the skirt of your dress. Glaring at him, you snapped, “You can’t seriously be horny right now!”
“Oh, yeah,” he groaned exaggeratedly. “Yell at me some more, won’t you, babe? I might just bust.”
“Why are you like this?!”
“Oh, I can be worse! Wanna hear my best impression of you when you’re bouncing on my dick?”
“No, of course I don’t—!”
“Ah, ah, ah!” he mimicked, rutting up against you all the while. “Lohen, slow down! I’m gonna cuuum!”
With a furious scream, you lifted him by his collar—which he let you do—before thrusting him back into the ground. His laugh was borderline-maniacal, tears budding at the corners of his eyes as he play-struggled beneath you. But before you could think to move, your world was spinning, and with your back pressed solidly into the ground, Lohen was on top of you again. He rutted against you with sharp, sporadic thrusts, mimicking, “Lohen, Lohen, Lohen!”
“Fucking stop it!” you blurted.
“Oh, but you’re wet, aren’t you? I don’t even have to touch you to feel it.”
No you were not wet for Lohen while he dryhumped you across the floor of your living room and imitated the way you moaned for him when he fucked the living soul out of you—.
“I’m wet,” you mumbled, your heart pounding against your ears.
“Of course you are,” he purred. “Your brain’s all addled from that porn book of yours. You don’t even notice how horny you get when you read it, do you?”
“Stop,” you complained, pressing your eyes closed. “I most definitely do not get horny while reading it.”
“You do,” he purred, hips rocking, hands rising to your face. “I sit and watch you read sometimes. When you start biting your lip, that’s how I know you’re at the smut part.”
“I don’t do that,” you protested.
“Yeah you do, Bun. And you start looking around too, trying to make sure I can’t see those filthy little pages of yours.”
Of course Lohen would notice something like that, even when you thought you were being covert about it. There wasn’t much you could hold over his head in the surprise variety—you even stopped trying to hide his birthday presents after the third foiled attempt. After you got together, he suggested that next time you cut the gimmicks and show up with a bow taped to your tits and a dagger in your hand.
Lohen’s laughter drove the scene from your mind. He leaned down to press a chaste kiss to your mouth, after which he said, “Want me to fuck you?”
You closed your eyes and whimpered, “Yes.”
Your fingers curled into Lohen’s shoulders as he moved atop of you. Legs tucked over his back, you encouraged the forward motion of his hips with each of his hard thrusts. Lohen nibbled at your chin, his nails scratching against the hardwood floor beside your head.
“You’re so embarrassed,” Lohen said, laughing against your jaw. “How adorable.”
Your cunt throbbed in response to his provocation, squeezing around his girth. Lohen’s tongue plopped onto your chin, and with a lazy drag upwards, smeared his wet saliva all over your face. When he reached your mouth, you stubbornly kept your lips pressed closed.
“Huh?” he asked. “You don’t want your kisses? When you’re the one who always whines about them?”
He snapped his hips forward again, making you release a strained moan into the air. The way Lohen fucked into you mashed against the sweet bundle of nerves pocketed inside, and he wasn’t a stranger to abusing that. He angled himself better for it, and it was somewhat painful when he stabbed into it again, but your pleasure was undeniable. Lohen tried for your mouth again, and you quickly clamped your panting lips shut.
He chuckled, his teeth nipping your upper lip. You flinched, and he giggled more.
“You mad at me?” he asked teasingly. “Just ‘cause I made fun of you for reading erotica?”
Your brows furrowed together. “It’s not eroti—! Mm!”
Ah, he had gotten you with that one. While your mouth was open, snapping at him, he had leaned down to slot his against yours. His hot tongue broke past your lips, waltzing around between your teeth like it owned the place. He moaned against you, stroking his thumbs over your cheeks, and gave you another solid thrust.
Your nails dug into the fabric of his shirt. Eyes fluttering shut, you felt yourself slip into a state of pure bliss.
But then things started to get cold. You thought you were imagining it at first, that maybe it was just a shiver, but then your teeth started chattering against the soft of Lohen’s tongue. He crooned a naughty little giggle, and the reason behind your frigid state became startlingly clear.
Shuddering, you wrapped your arms around him, pulling his body further into yours. You turned your face away from his kiss, clinging to his warm frame as you barked, “Why are you doing that?”
Of course, you were referring to his inappropriate use of his cryo vision. Lohen snickered.
“I like it when you cling onto me,” he purred. “Makes me feel good.”
“It’s c-cold,” you complained.
“Then I guess you’ll have to cling a little bit harder.”
“Lohen…”
You groaned, but you wrapped yourself around him tighter anyway. With both arms and legs holding him in a vice-like grip, you hooked your chin over his shoulder, your cheeks warm. He nuzzled into the side of your face, pressing sloppy kisses to your cheek all the while. For a guy who complained about the mundanity of kisses and cuddles, he sure was a hypocrite whenever he was on top of you like this. You had even started wondering if he liked it more than you did.
Your palms, flat against his back, stroked across his blue button down. He let out a breath against your cheek.
“You feel good,” you murmured.
His hips stuttered. Lifting his face back over yours, Lohen grinned at you, red consuming his cheeks from ear to ear.
“Yeah?” he said. “You like me or something, Bun?”
You cracked a smile back, rolling your eyes. “You’re so silly.”
“Heh…cheeky girl. I’ll show you silly.”
He rammed into you harder, his brows furrowed, but with a satisfied smile still etched across his face. You moaned his name, your eyes trained on that wicked grin of his. When his mouth descended onto yours, you dug your nails into the fabric of his shirt.
“Mm,” he moaned. Between wet, sloppy mashes of his mouth against yours, “Gonna fuck you silly, Bun.”
Embarrassing, but you liked the sound of it.
“Gonna make you go, oh, Lohen!”
Okay, now he was just being a dick. Your cunt was still throbbing though, so what did that say about you?
“Ah, Lohen, stop!” he mocked, his shoulders shaking with his laughs. “Good impression, no?”
“Can you not make fun of me while you’re fucking me?!”
“Aw, but I like it! You’re so cute when you’re mad, Bun!”
“Just shut up and fuck me!” you sputtered.
“Ha! Well, if you insist.”
“Oh,” you moaned suddenly, feeling the stroke of his cock shift into a pound. His tip fucked that spot you adored like he’d never get a chance at it again, and as pleasure shot through your core in hot waves, you sputtered, “Yeah, just…just like that.”
“I’m gonna make a bingo card next time,” he purred. “Fill it full of the shit you say when you’re about to cum.”
Why, oh why did you like it when he made fun of you like that?
“I wonder if it’s gonna be slow down! or not yet! this time. What do you think, Bun?”
“Slow down,” you slurred, your heels digging into his hips. “Fuck, Lohen, slow down.”
“Like music to my ears.”
“I’m gonna cum,” you whimpered. “Please stop.”
“But I want you to cum, pretty girl.”
Oh fuck him.
Lohen laughed when you slipped into it, your hands clawing at the back of his shirt while you mewled and moaned the exact way he had made fun of you for. You felt the sting of his hips into yours, a bit of biting cold that he couldn’t control, preceded by the lively throb of his dick inside you. Your back arched as though you were being pulled to Celestia, but Lohen’s body kept you tethered, holding you right where you were.
“Fuuuck,” he drawled, his eyes unfocused. He grinned, but the expression twitched, shifting his face between a smug one and a desperate one. Fingers clawing into the floor beneath you, Lohen half-spat, half-moaned, “Bunny.”
Fuck, fuck, fuck, you were cumming again—.
“Good…good job,” he said, his voice lilting into a whimper. “You’re my…my everything, Bunny.”
Tears budded at the corners of your eyes. Holding him ever so tight, you whined back, “I love you.”
He exhaled a shaky laugh. Lowering his head, the tip of his nose brushed against yours.
“Pretty girl,” he crooned. “I love you more.”
With an ear-splitting smile, tears ran down your cheeks as you laughed. Lohen craned down to kiss you, swallowing your giggles and salty tears along with your hot tongue.
“Mm,” he said when he withdrew. “Still gonna make that bingo card.”
Your smile immediately fell flat. Whamming your fists against his shoulders, Lohen only nuzzled into you and laughed.
What a pain of a boyfriend. He was stupid, reckless, and borderline psychotic.
Yet in the depths of your heart, you knew you wouldn’t want him any other way.

Shin Asakura is speaking...
NOW PLAYING: AN EATER BY MATT MARTIANS
“Wanna smoke?”
It being a slow and sluggish Sunday evening, not too much happening. The entirety of the day was you and Shin restocking the whole store while the family was out with Lu. All day yesterday, she kept mentioning how they should take another trip to the bathhouse, Mr. Sakamoto agreed. For reasons we all know why to, the clairvoyant declined.
“You know I don't like cigarettes. Plus we can't even smoke outside in the front, no smoking remember?” You played with a nearby broom. “No, I'm talking about weed.” He clarified. “Since when did you start smoking weed? The last time I've seen you smoke was like what, a few months ago?”
“Ever since you told me you don't like cigarettes.” Shin walked away from the stocked shelf and flipped the OPEN sign to CLOSED. “I guess a quick forty-five-minute break won't hurt.”
If it wasn't obvious already, Shin had a slight crush on you. He admired your will to keep the Sakamoto family safe and alongside with others, how you were able to defend yourself so easily for being an ex-hitman, how laid-back you could get, he would hate to be so serious around you all the time. Soon enough, him respecting you turned into him getting way too excited to see you at work.
Shin asked you to follow him to his room on the second floor of the store, you've only ever been inside his room a few times. Mrs. Sakamoto was in the process of getting your room set up upstairs, just working on cleaning it all out and making it feel more like home. He kept a mason jar under his bed with a couple of pre-rolls stored inside. “How long has that been under there for?!” You questioned him as you joined him on the edge of his bed. “Not that long actually, been waiting for a day where the whole family is out.” It would make sense to wait, not everyone is very fond of the smells. “Does Mr. Sakamoto know about this?” You watched as Shin unscrewed the lid with ease, “He does. He doesn't mind as long as it's not around him or his family.”
“I guess working for Mr. Sakamoto can be a little stressful, letting loose is always good.”
“Just a little?”
“A whole lot actually…”
He sat up and grabbed an old lighter from his desk, “Rooftop? Since we can't smoke in the front…”
You plopped down onto his bed facing the ceiling, you usually don't smoke without a reason.
“...I'll buy you food.” Shin spoke up, already reaching for the doorknob.
And with that, you immediately sat right back up, you two taking off your aprons so the smell doesn't stick to it, “What are we waiting for?!” You followed Shin to the rooftop as he opened the heavy door for you. You hardly came up here, only when you needed to get some serious thinking done or training with Heisuke (which almost always ended up in getting food together). He passed you your own joint alongside with the lighter, “What a cute color.” You pointed out the color of the lighter as you inhaled.
“I bought it only ‘cause it reminded me of you.”
“How thoughtful.” You thought.
Moments of comfortable silence filled the air, the blonde esper knew when to tune into your mind whenever you didn't speak, similar to Mr. Sakamoto.
“Reading my mind again?” You teased; he got caught off-guard as he coughed up smoke. “I gave you permission, remember? Relax. If I had powers like yours, I'd rely on them too much.” You nudged his side. “Don't tease me like that, it makes me think I did something wrong…” He put the joint up to his pouty lips, inhaling. The way he whined made you laugh. “Pfft, don't try to act cute now.”
Why on Earth would you say that? Realizing your words, you fumbled with the joint and dropped it. “Oh my gosh, no! Noooo…!” You groaned as you attempted to save it but accidentally stepped on it instead. “Hey, why would you step on it?!”
“Why would I purposely step on it, Shin?!”
You reached for the joint and picked it up, examining to see if it was able to be saved, only for it to comically explode into your hands. “Ugh…! Today's really not my day, is it?!” You slumped against the wall next to him. “Here, dummy. Only because I feel sorry for you.” He gave you his without a second thought. “...Thanks.” Suddenly, everything was fine again. Dropping the joint did upset you, however, it soon felt as if everything would be okay.
The cannabis was already taking effect within yours and his body. Your chest, in your head, and in between your thighs, it's too hot. You caught Shin’s gaze as you continued to hit the joint, inhaling deep and slow. "Why do I always...feel so horny whenever I'm high...?" Your thoughts whined inside your mind. Since Shin was already tuned into your head from earlier, he could hear your thoughts with ease.
“Indica’ll do that to you.” His cheeks were bright pink by now. Sending heat throughout your entire figure now, Shin felt the same effect, shooting warmth to both heads.
He felt like such a pervert, physically unable to resist from checking you out as your chest heaved up and down. You tried your best to regulate your breathing, shifting your stance, thighs rubbed together shamefully. His cheeks flushed—he broke eye contact with your chest and averted his gaze elsewhere.
“Were you c-checking me o-?”
“No!” He said a little too defensively. “You didn't even let me finish my sentence, Shin.” You handed him back the joint as he swiped it away from you. “...I haven't smoked in a while…”
“Me neither.”
The scent of weed filled the air as Shin gave you the last hit, “Can I borrow some clothes after this? I don't want my clothes smelling inside the store.” You exhaled slowly and tilted your head back along the wall, the sky seemed more orangish than before. “I don't mind, what's mine is yours.” He rubbed the back of his neck, “All done?” The blonde took the joint back from you, putting it out on the floor. “We need to get changed now.” You grabbed him by the wrist to exit the rooftop, going back to his room. “We have thirty-five minutes left, what's the rush?” He followed close as you two walked down the stairs in a hurry. “...I get paranoid.”
You closed the door behind him as he walked to his closet to find you spare, clean clothes. He tossed Mr. Sakamoto's classic SLIM white tee to you, “Wh-Why do you still have this? The poor guy’s probably still looking for it!” You gripped onto the tee, badly wrinkling it. “Don't wrinkle it! I just ironed that!”
You threw the tee back towards Shin and started to look through his closet yourself. “No, no, no, no.” You moved each hanger as if you owned the place. “Here! Just wear this before you wrinkle any more of my shirts!” In one fluid motion, he pulled out his blue hoodie that was hanging from inside his closet.
Now that you think about it……Shin was currently wearing a casual black tee that fit him a little too well. Embarrassed from your own thoughts, you turned around and started undressing in front of Shin without any warning. You pulled over your shirt with your bra band in full view. “I'm still in the room!” He yelled out and turned away from you, his face twenty shades of pink. “I don't mind.”
It's true, you really didn't. You had a hard time holding TMI around your friends. “I need pants, can I wear sweatpants or is that too casual for work?”
“It's fine…” He grumbled. You rummaged through his drawers until you found a pair of grey sweatpants that looked nice and comfy. You tapped Shin's shoulder letting him know it's safe to turn around. He looked you up and down, checking you out once more, but this time was only different. You were in his clothes and in his room! Every guy's dream is to see their crush wearing their hoodies, but you were in his hoodie and pants! Double kill in his opinion. You made yourself at home on his bed.
“Go ahead and change, I won't look.” Your tone started to become more teasing and playful from being high, putting your hands over your eyes. The esper tried his hardest to ignore your inner thoughts screaming for him. He took Mr. Sakamoto's SLIM tee for himself and replaced his black shirt with it while also changing into joggers. He sat on the bed and removed your hands for you.
“He's too cute!”
“So pretty.”
The atmosphere of the room began to quickly change, muted orange and purple hues of the sky were visible through his thin curtains. “How much time do we…. have left…?” Shin checked his phone, “Thirty minutes, what did you want to do…?” He questioned, moving a little closer to you, making eye contact with low red eyes. The smell of his cologne and fabric softener filled your nostrils. The sexual tension was definitely intense and you both knew it was there.
“You're really hot. You know I get horny.” Your thoughts whimpered. He felt his cheeks go warm, “You're just talking outta your ass.” Shin sighed as you tugged onto the sleeve of his shirt, practically begging for him. “Do you not realize how badly I've been wanting to sit on your face?” Your thighs rubbed together. “WHAT?!” Shin yelled. “...Ow, my ear…”
“...I tried not to think about it whenever we were this close.” You admitted your dirty secret. You slowly looked up and down at him, noticing his boner through his joggers. “I…um…” He stuttered.
“But! I understand if you're not into that, I'll get outta here.” You slowly sat up off his bed attempting to leave until he grabbed your wrist. “Stay.”
Shin knew he needed you so badly, his body craved for you many days and nights. Not just lust, but pure love. Being around the Sakamoto family realized he yearned for a relationship just like theirs. It wasn't just proximity attraction, it felt real. Often thinking about you throughout the day while you're not scheduled to work, even going as far to feel slightly jealous whenever training with Heisuke. Of course, he finds himself subconsciously praising you about how well you're doing in the store to everyone but is too shy to tell anyone else that he actually has feelings for you.
“Stay with me…” He gently dragged you back onto the bed towards him with a hand on your inner thigh. “...Sit on my face, please.” He mumbled making it hard for you to understand him. “What's that? Use your words.” You teased him. “Please sit on my face!” Shin repeated, immediately cupping your hands together. You stared in awe, the sexual tension deepened. He helped you take off your sweatpants and threw them across his bed. You pulled at his hoodie to remove it but was suddenly stopped, “Leave it please. I wanna see you wear it.” He begged. You helped him lay flat and straddled his chest, facing his boner. “We have twenty-three minutes left, be quick.” Throwing your phone alongside your sweatpants. You backed up over his face and he moved your panties to the side, what a sight. Shin was at a loss for words, “Beautiful…”
You started to feel shy so you squeezed his head with your thighs reminding him you're still there, he snapped out of his trance and pulled you down by wrapping his arms around your thighs. The blonde laid his tongue flat against your clit, almost scared to move too fast. You felt as if your body was on fire, being high plus a cute esper boy eating you out? So hot! You arched your ass in his face, giving him permission to continue, you laid against his body, fumbling with the drawstrings of his joggers. With your permission, he started to flick his tongue up and down against your clit. Shin knew you felt extra sensitive due to being high, he thrusted upwards also giving you consent to suck him off. You slid down his joggers and boxers with ease; you're blown away at the sight of his size. “Six inches or so?” You blurted out your guess while wrapping your hand around his cock.
“Don't guess it!” He stammered in between licks, clearly shy. To shut you up, he inserted his tongue in your entrance. You whimpered at the sudden feeling as he grabbed the plush of your ass. “So rough…” Your thoughts exposed you as you were practically drooling. Shin stiffened in your palm. Slowly started to pump your hand, you realized he's already dripping with pre-cum leaking from his tip. You began to teasingly lick his tip before sliding his entire length into your warm mouth.
Shin tilted his head back away from your slick and groaned in pleasure. “It's so warm…” His grip onto your thighs became weaker as his hands fell to his side, completely forgetting to eat you out. “Shin…” You whined at the loss of touch. To really make yourself feel more comfortable, you decided to put your full weight onto his face, rubbing your slick against his nose. “Thank goodness for big noses.”
You reached over back to his cock to pump your hand faster, spreading his pre-cum all over his tip. “Are you really gonna cum already? I barely touched you.” You spat onto your other hand to pump him faster, rubbing each other's body fluids on his cock. Sweat beads glazed his forehead. “You're so–so good, please…” Shin whimpered underneath you, “I'll just ride your face, focus on cumming for me.” His hands remained at your side, finger twitching every so often. You slowly started to bob your head down, humming to yourself for the vibration. Your deep breaths and his soft whimpers filled the room. He lazily snaked both of his arms under his hoodie, around your lower back to pull you closer to his body.
Without even realizing, he began to gradually move his hips upwards, gently thrusting himself inside of your mouth. His hands traveled all over your back the closer he was to cumming, you took the hint. “Cum for me, yeah? In my mouth if you want…”
“Shi-Shit, are you sure? You're so warm.” His voice muffled while hands trailed faster along your body then eventually to your butt, slowly massaging you. “Mhm!” Your mouth was too stuffed to give a proper reply. “Don't hold back either, please let me hear you.”
Shin picked up his pace as he threw his head backwards in pleasure, “Fuck, I'm cumming…” Before you knew it, his entire load shot to the back of your throat, tears forming in your eyes. His thrust came to a slow stop as he continued to ride his climax. You released him from your mouth as you spit back onto his cock, once again spreading your spit and his load all over himself. He sat up with his hands on your hips to make sure you didn't lose your balance, “You're still hard. Whaddya say clairvoyant, read my mind and find out what I'm thinking?”
He internally panicked, yeah he just came inside of your mouth, but reading your mind after being so intimate felt as if he was invading your privacy. “I gave you permission, remember?”
“Oh, right…”
Tuning into your verbalized thoughts, you were thinking, “Missionary, missionary, missionary.”
“Do you seriously like missionary that much?!”
“Mmm yeah, who doesn't?”
Shin couldn't agree more. He helped you get off of his body to sit back up in his bed, going back to foreplay. Your hands found their way to the back of his head, grabbing a fistful of hair. “What did I say about holding back—wanna hear you moan.” You're too out of breath to even form proper sentences. His fingers slowly went down to your core, fumbling with your underwear once more. “Take ‘em off.” You reached for your underwear and pulled them over your legs and tossed them from across the room, assuming you two had about fifteen minutes left. “We need to hurry, our break is gonna end.” You whined. “What if Mr. Sakamoto and his family return before then?” You internally freaked out. “I doubt it, they'll want to take in the view of the sunset before anything.”
“It's pretty today…” He played with the back of your hair.
“But…you're prettier than any other sunset I've seen before…” Shin had a slight blush to his cheeks as he scratched the back of his neck with his free hand. “That means a lot coming from you…”
He pulled you back in for a gentle kiss with more of his feelings involved. His hand continued to trail down to your core again with no underwear in his way, fingers slightly sinking into wet warmth. You squirmed at the sudden fullness also playing with his hair. You broke apart from the kiss to let out a quiet moan, “Is this okay…?”
You nodded shyly as he continued to add another digit inside of you, sinking in with ease. Your chest heaved up and down the faster he pumped his fingers. Shin softly grabbed your chin to bring you into another sloppy kiss, kissing your cheek, your jawline, your neck, all the way down to your collarbone. You pulled him into a tighter hug, smothering him with your clothed chest while you started to ride his fingers. “Shin!” You cried out the closer you got to your orgasm.
The esper quickly retracted his fingers away from your entrance and without thinking, shoved his fingers into your mouth. You started to swirl your tongue around his fingers, “Tastes good, right?” Being too full to speak, you began to suck them in response. Once all of your slick was slurped off of him, Shin stared at you in awe. “How can someone so perfect as you be so good at everything?”
You were quick to lay down back onto his bed as you played with the hem of his hoodie that you're wearing, clearly embarrassed. Shin could tell you were ready to take him fully, he reached to his bedside table to pull out multiple condoms for you to choose from. “Wh–You have these, why?!” Feeling a tad bit jealous. “Hey! You never know!”
You playfully rolled your eyes and chose the condom that was best suited for your comfort and he put the other three back where they came from. “Don't tell me you're jealous…are you?” He ripped into the plastic gently, pulled out the blue condom and slipped it on so nervously. “So, what if I'm jealous? Would I be your first…?”
Silence filled the air; he fumbled with the condom to make sure it's on correctly. “...Yeah.”
“Me too, isn't that cute?”
Shin's cheeks were dusty pink as he hovered over you, humming in agreement. “Please tell me at all if it hurts.” He aligned himself up with your entrance, slowly rubbing away at your clit for added pleasure. Gently pushing himself inside of you with a low groan, patiently waiting for you to adjust. You shut your eyes as you whimpered in pain, “Are you okay?! We can stop!” He was about to pull out of you before you grabbed him by his forearm. “Gi-Give me a second…”
He laid on top of you, his body swallowing you whole in missionary. The warmth from his thick hoodie plus his body heat drove you crazy, you caressed his bare back under his shirt to bring him closer to you. His face rested in the crook of your neck, taking in your fresh scent. You were able to feel him breath in and out against your neck and felt a little bit more at ease. “A little more now.” His body remained on top of yours as he thrusted his tip deeper, his hand finding its way to be interlocked with yours. “Is this okay?” His breath hit your neck, “Yeah…” You moaned out.
You gave him permission to continue as he pushed further in, waiting for you to adjust to his full length that was hitting your g-spot. “Nice and slow for now.” He felt your hand squeezing his as you were taking your time to adjust. “Your body is so perfect–you’re so perfect…!” You thanked him in your thoughts as you began to move your own hips, he stopped you. “H-Huh?”
“All you have to do is sit there and look pretty for me, please?”
“Of course!” You blurted out, he gripped onto your hip underneath the hoodie and started to gradually pick up his pace, checking your facial expressions every other second to make sure you were doing okay. “More…squeeze my hand…” The esper obeyed, squeezing with each movement he made. Shin sat back up to take in the full view of you on his cock with your clothed chest moving with each thrust. “You're so beautiful like this.” He praised you. You took the opportunity to bring him closer to your body again, only to be smothering him with your chest. Shin was at a loss for words.
Being able to see someone in this kind of state was something special to him, being comfortable enough around you to lay his full body weight on you as he continued to plunge into you at a comfortable pace. His soft moans, skin slapping, and your whines could be heard through the room. “Doing this with someone I love…”
Your eyes shot open at his confession, “You love me?!”
“Who wouldn't?” *Thrust* “You don't realize how much I've talked about yo–” *Thrust* “Talked about you to Mr. Sakamoto.” *Thrust* “I love you…!”
“I really love you too, fuck!” You cried out your feelings. “I love you so much, it hurts!” Shin was caught by surprise mid stroke, to think that his crush actually had feelings for him in return. “Look at me, pretty.” He brought your chin up to look at him deep into his blue eyes, foreheads almost touching. “Blue looks so good on you, fuck—and in you too.” You both looked down to watch him slide in and out of you with the blue condom on. “...Close, I'm close!” Your sentences were incomplete. “I am too!” His pace became more sloppy, high on sex, signaling he was closer than expected. “Cum on me, please take off the condom!”
"I'm cumming!"
In the heat of the moment, Shin pulled out of your warmth and hurriedly removed the condom as you moved up the hoodie to show off your bare stomach, “I'm cumming again…” He jerked himself off to pump every last drop onto you, but only, to miss by a mile.
“S-Shin? I think you missed…”
He came back down from his high, looking down to what was supposed to be your cum-covered stomach, only to find out his arousal spotted into the front of the hoodie you're wearing. “Shit! I'm so sorry! Please forgive me!” He bowed very formally and licked his fingers to dab away at the stains. “Ah! It won't come out!”
You placed your hand on top of his, “It's okay, I'm pretty sure the apron will cover it.”
You were right.
Silence.
Shin fell to your side in exhaustion. “I really do love you.” You could tell he grew sleepy, “I love you a lot too, for a while actually.” He pulled you closer into a cradle, letting out a yawn, so do you. He suggested a quick nap wouldn't hurt, sleeping off the high while holding you. He lazily kissed the top of your head before checking out. And before you knew it, you also fell into a deep sleep.
The rest of the break time flew by. The sun settled into a darker shade of purple mixed with a deep shade of blue. By then, Mr. Sakamoto and the family came back to the store, only to be met with a CLOSED sign. “Hmm.”

Gaku REALLY likes putting you in a chokehold—when you try running from his dick.
Gaku would always get seriously turned on from seeing you run from his dick, his length and girth is most certainly enough to tap your cervix. It stretches you out and fills you up sooo good and JUST right.
But you can’t help but attempt to move forward off his big dick, sometimes, especially when he has you laying on your stomach, ass slightly up, fucking you hard in a prone bone doggy-style. At this point you’re fucked out, but he is relentless, firmly gripping your yummy hips and pulling you back, flush against him.
He’s fucking the shit out of you, and his dick is abusing the spot that sends literal shivers down your spine.
The filthy sounds of his dick going in and out of your super wet pussy is driving him to the brink of insanity, no way is he about to let you run from that right now.
“Where’re you going, hm?” He hums, tone laced with an almost playful energy and amusement, his pace still consistent. Honestly? It’s nearly brutal, no sign of him stopping. He leans closer to you from behind while you’re still on your stomach, and reaches his right arm around your neck, securing a pretty firm chokehold, borderline tight enough to make you lose your breath.
You make the mistake of attempting to create just a lil room between your ass and his hips again, regrettably letting the overstimulation get to you.
He finally pauses his thrusts for a second and flexes his right bicep around your throat. You instinctually reach your arms up, grab his bicep and feel him up, unable to stop yourself from biting your lip at the dirty feeling of him choking you.
He clocks this immediately and leans, even closer, bringing his mouth closer to your ear, his slightly labored breathes hitting the side of your face, and purrs. “Stop running from my dick. Wanna see you take it for real.”
Your breath hitches at his words. You’re flooded with pleasure and wet as fuck at this point. He has your body twitching and reacting to everything he says or does.
You arch your back more, inviting him to continue punishing your pussy, desperate and down bad for his dick. “M’sorry, baby. Please fuck me more.”
And so he does, this time rougher, faster, harder. Your mouth is agape, silent moans forming as he continues his punishing pace, making your pussy clench around him. Your hands are still on his arm that is tightly firm around your neck and when you notice he’s making his chokehold tighter, you moan again, louder than before.
He’s hitting your sweet spot now, and choking you with his delicious muscles at the same time. You swear, you might pass out right now from the pleasure.
Instead, you whimper as you listen to him whisper not so sweet nothings in your ear. “Woww, you love my dick, huh? Yeahhhh, y’like that shit, don’t you?” He groans, low and so fucking seductive. You can only muster a loud whimper back in response, clearly too fucked out to respond properly.
He notices immediately and chokes you harder. “Nahh, louder, pretty. Can’t hear ya.” He hums back, unsatisfied with your lack of words but also extremely turned on by it at the same time. It shows he’s got you right where he wants you. He knows you’re enjoying every second of this. That you’re PHYSICALLY here, but mentally, you’re far away, completely cockdumb.
“Mhmmg! Yes!” You gasp, breathless, your grip on his strong arm tightening. Right now, you aren’t thinking of anything. Nothing else matters. You are damn near drooling over his bicep at the sensation of how he’s fucking you right now, clenching around him with every stroke he makes. The only thing on your mind is this very moment, how good Gaku is fucking you right now.
“Pussy so good. Mm, fuckk, this pussy’s sooo good.” He pants, rhythm faltering. You can feel his dick throbbing with every stroke, he’s getting closer and so are you.
He can’t stop his eyebrows from scrunching together and his mouth from falling open at the way you look right now, he’s in awe at how stupid you are on his dick. He can’t help but let out a breathless chuckle.
“S’big, Gaku. Godddd, it’s soo deep.” You whine, babbling some more about how overstimulated you are from his big ass cock.
He hisses in your ear at the sound of your voice, then groans, low and breathless. “Yeahh, you’re taking this dick soo well.” He’s tempted to keep his cock buried in your warm and wet pussy forever.
“Yesss, baby. M’gonna come on your dick, please.” You’re not sure what you’re begging for at this point. Perhaps, it’s a plea for him to shoot his seed deep into your womb, while you come too.
“Mmm, yea? You wanna come on this dick?” His breath hitches while he powers through his strokes, making sure you get your release too.
“Yesssyesyes, baby, yes.” You moan back, shameless and completely drunk on his dick, pussy taking and squeezing everything he’s giving to you, hungry to please him.
“Ohh, fuck, it’s tight— I’m coming, shit.” He hisses as he releases into you, his warm seed filling you up just the way you like, and finally the white hot tension within you snaps.
Your eyes roll back at the sensation, moaning praises to Gaku and arching your back more, letting your head fall back as he finally loosens his grip. He shifts his position and grabs your hips to lift them up and finish you off in a proper doggy style, continuing his thrusts, determined to fuck you through your climax.
“Yeahhh, good girlll. Come all over my fucking dick.” He bites his lip and continues to whisper the most sexual praises in your ear, talking you through your orgasm, kissing you here, nibbling on your ear there. You did such a good job for him, letting him put you in a chokehold and fuck you stupid like that.
Gaku just knows how to flip that freak switch on in you, and you bring it out of him. Together, you both are one freaked out couple, always on the craziest timing, no matter where or when.
He finally pulls out, and plops down next you. You immediately turn to cuddle him, carefully, so you don’t spill too much of his cum he released into you. He reaches his big, yummy arms around you and pulls you in tighter, softly petting your hair and then pulls you in for a sloppy and longg make-out session, almost like a reward.
You both, of course, are aware that there’s a huge mess that needs to be tended to, but Gaku thinks you guys can wait.
It’s clear you are both ready to make another one, anyway.

Hello, a request please from Yoichi x reader, the reader is a foreigner who works in a bookstore and went to Sakamoto's store to buy his lunch, and the same thing happened to Yoichi as to Sakamoto with his wife.
nagumo yoichi has dated before, but this is his first time falling for someone
feat. nagumo yoichi
pt. 2
── ⟢
+ it's been a good few years since you moved to japan. it took you a while, but you became more familiar with the language, culture and the beautiful community that really helped you feel at home. sometimes, you catch yourself feeling homesick, but it's really not too bad. it's just one of those fleeting moments where you wallow for a few seconds then go back to enjoying the peaceful life in japan.
+ you work at a bookstore on a busy street where people of all ages come and go. you have children's books, magazines, comics, dictionaries, study books and even the . . . explicit stuff, but that exists upstairs and you do not dare go up there. you do not.
+ it's a repetitive but healing lifestyle. on weekdays, you have the opening shift, closing on saturdays and sunday is always a rest day. you're well-acquainted with the shop owner, who's the wisest elderly man you think you've ever met in your life. you haven't lived a very long one so far, but you genuinely believe that he's read almost every book in the continent─maybe even the world─because he speaks in such a poetic manner that you think you need to relearn japanese for this.
+ today is a tuesday and it's already half one. you've done all your morning chores, so you start feeling a little hungry.
+ "(y/n)!" the old man calls and you walk over to where he's perched on the edge of his seat, a magazine about hats in his lap. "have you eaten lunch yet?"
+ you shake your head. "no, not yet. i was just planning on getting something from a store. would you like anything?"
+ he hums in approval. he starts stroking his chin and this is literally what you mean when you think he's the smartest person on earth. not anybody strokes their chin after being asked what they want to eat. "there's a convenience store around the corner that sells very good katsu sandwiches. get us two, will you?"
+ "sure! around the corner, right?" you walk over to where your coat is draped over the back of your chair. "i'll see if there's anything else too."
+ "thank you very much, dear."
+ and so, you set off. you feel the breeze rush across your face as you walk with a swing in your step. you hope that there won't be any trouble today. yesterday, you had a foreign customer who demanded a refund because one of the pages was horribly ripped, but you were absolutely positive that the book was in perfect condition when she had bought it. it was one of those people, but you took control of the situation very calmly by offering to give her a new copy, but somehow, she took it as a huge punch to her ego that she stormed off, muttering about how foreigners like you shouldn't be allowed in japan anymore. you blinked. you were pretty sure that the lady was not from japan either.
+ from afar, you see the store that your boss mentioned. it has 'sakamoto's' written across it and it looks pretty normal with its standard size and colours. suddenly, that katsu sandwich sounds really good, so you rush over as quick as you can. maybe you'll get a drink with it too? the boss likes green tea, so you should grab that for him.
+ the automatic doors open with a ding-dong and you step inside, the cool air of a normal convenience store washing over you.
+ nevermind. this is not a normal convenience store.
+ why are you seeing a pizza delivery man being choked by another man?
+ and a very handsome one too?
+ and there's a group behind him too─oh boy. everyone's looking at you. you go blank. they grow pale. your mind goes white. you gape.
+ do you . . . walk back out? do you . . . continue looking for the katsu sandwiches? you don't actually know where it is─do you ask? should you even be here? is this even a convenience store?─why did your boss recommend this place?─most importantly, why is there a man choking another man?
+ "oh . . . my."
+ your head slowly rotates to the person who just spoke. it's the handsome one─the one doing the choking, and with the way he's gawking at you right now, you're lowkey scared he's going to start choking you too. please, all you want is a katsu sandwich and a bottle of green tea.
+ whatever situation you just walked into, you're not really sure how you're going to back out of it. there's one girl with pink hair, a blonde boy, a round man, who you assume is the store owner, the very handsome one in a long coat and finally, the pizza man.
+ and whilst your attention is on each and every person who's awkwardly staring at you as if you're the weird one for interrupting, you don't realise that the good-looking one is absolutely mesmerised.
+ "nagumo, that's enough."
+ as soon as the store owner speaks, the man─nagumo, you assume─loosens the headlock on the poor pizza guy, who goes tumbling onto the floor like a fallen jenga tower. you watch as his body practically folds as if his bones became jelly.
+ and when you look up, you find yourself locking eyes with him, and they don't leave you. the silhouettes of everyone simply fades, his dark irises seemingly shine like you're the sunlight to his darkness or the stars to his moon. his lips part just slightly, enough to assure you that you've . . . surprised him in a good way. now, you think he's not going to choke you.
+ to you, it's just a random man─a conveniently handsome but random man─who's eyeballing your very existence, but to him? wow. the order? assassin? him? wuzzat? sakamoto has a bounty on his head, really? pfft . . . he's found his woman. he's ready to melt that gold assassin's license of his into real gold to put on your finger.
+ "nagumo. stop staring at her like that."
+ but does he stop? no. his focus refuses to waver, it's like the wires in his brain are transmitting the message 'today, we are only looking at this woman and this woman only," but his stare is so strong, magnetic and so full of longing. for a bit, you find yourself falling deep into those gorgeous black eyes of his.
+ "are you my wife?"
+ you snap out of it in an instant. "huh?"
+ nagumo points at you. he starts walking over, but you're still rooted to the spot. "you, it's you. my wife." he sounds completely certain, persuaded and stubborn. the way he states it makes you compelled to agree. yes, yes. you are his wife.
+ you don’t really know what to think. you have no idea how to process any of this at all. dear japan, if this is what you’re like, you will very kindly and respectfully be returning home.
+ then, he's right in front of you and he's tall. you think he stands at around 6' 2 and compared to you─it's like having the eiffel tower and a toothpick put together. his presence feels strangely majestic as if he's oozing with the vibes of a royal prince, but then again, you take a moment to ponder about this because would a prince with a lavish background full of silk and honey brutally put a headlock around a delivery man? then again, the pizza guy was holding a pair of cutters in his hands a little menacingly.
+ a smile, a little cunning but dazzling all the same, flickers across his face. he tilts his head and his pupils scan you from head to toe. "yes. yes. perfect. i'll contact a wedding coordinator immediately."
+ "hah?! what the hell is he talking about? you can't just go around saying that to someone you just met!"
+ you believe it's the blonde boy talking because he points a finger at nagumo. "sakamoto-san! this guy's being a creep to our poor customer!"
+ "nagumo. leave her alone."
+ but nagumo ignores them. "sakamoto-kun, this is true love."
+ the blonde boy, whose name tag reads 'shin', pushes nagumo out of the way before bowing profusely. "sorry about all of this, uh, did you need anything?"
+ you wonder how you're going to go about your day now. "yeah, if that's ok. i mean, i can always come back . . . whenever this," you do a little motion with your hands, "isn't here?"
+ "no, no, everything's fine," nagumo chimes in. "it's just a normal day for us, don't mind it, don't mind it. in fact, this is the best day of my life."
+ shin glares at him and shakes his head. "ignore him. uh, this doesn't normally happen here, but um, no, you can still be here! i can help you find what you need!"
+ "then . . . just two katsu sandwiches . . . please," you manage to say and shin dashes off to the back. you take a small glimpse at nagumo, who's gaze is still fixated on you.
+ "do you perhaps work at a bookstore?"
+ you raise your brows at him, who still has that twinkle in his eyes. with the way his face is inches away from yours, you feel like he's growing closer and closer by the second, but for some reason, you don't find yourself moving. "yeah, i do."
+ "i see."
+ you don't know what he sees or why he sees.
+ "would you like to get married in one?"
+ "nagumo. she's not going to marry you."
+ "see the look in her eyes? of course she will!"
+ you don't answer because shin's already running back with two packaged sandwiches in his hands. he shoves them over and bows again. "here you go, please just take them. no need to pay, not after seeing all of this."
+ "that's going out of your pay check, shin."
+ "eh?! sakamoto-san!"
+ your feet shuffle under you as you slowly back away towards the door. "thank you for these. i hope that all of you," you nod to everyone, "have a nice day."
+ nagumo straightens his posture. "are you going back to the bookstore?"
+ you turn back around to him and he stands even closer than you remember. "yeah, i am. i have to get back to work."
+ "i see, then i will come with you!"
+ you fully spin and wave your hands in front of your face. "no! no, that's not necessary, that is not necessary. you don't have to go out of your way─"
+ "how silly of you to think that!" nagumo grins and you can feel the eagerness radiating off him. "i can't let my lovely lady walk back alone!"
+ "nagumo, she's not your lady."
+ you quickly glance outside. "it's daytime?"
+ "you never know what kind of horrors lurk out there. take this guy as an example!" he prods the pizza guy with the tip of his foot. "you never know."
─
+ what's funny is that nagumo never gave up.
+ what's even funnier is that you gave him a chance.
+ he turns up to your bookstore every. single. day. he doesn't even buy anything, he just comes in, leans on the counter, lounges around in one of the single chairs and talks your ear off for about an hour before he leaves for a mission. unsurprisingly, you've come to learn that he has a job, but you don't know much except for the fact that it's dangerous. you've also learnt that he gets severe motion sickness.
+ he takes you out on walks, to restaurants─very . . . very expensive ones─and so much more to the point where you sort of feel bad that you can't do anything to repay him.
+ "what?" he would gasp when you offered to pay. "don't be ridiculous, i'd pay the entire world for you."
+ he makes restaurant reservations under his name, but upon arriving, he'd always say, "i booked the private booth for myself and my wife." and when he orders for you, he goes, "and my wife would like this one. can you make it perfect?" you don't know what it does to you.
+ "yet." he's always cheeky about it when you helpfully remind him that you're not married. "the time will come, darling."
+ your boss is just so happy that you've found someone during your time in japan. he knows how difficult it might be as a foreigner because it isn't your country and japanese isn't your first language, but the fact that you've found─he says 'found' as if nagumo's a dog─a tall, dashingly handsome japanese man, who is so head over heels for you, your boss performs nothing but parades of applause. he'd always sigh and you swear it's one of those dreamy ones. "i was just as persistent with my wife back when i was your age. she kept telling me to go away, but i simply couldn't."
+ you laugh. you've heard his story many times. "really?"
+ "yes, really. it is true love."
+ one day, you're just going to have to admit that nagumo yoichi is smitten to the bone, to the head, to the heart, maybe even to his feet.
+ "i'll tell you what i think," your boss says, flapping a newspaper in his hands, "i think you should tie the knot already. he seems like he's already there anyway."
+ surely, if your wise boss is telling you to get married, maybe you should do it? even a blind man would be able to tell that nagumo is ready to get down on one knee.

a/n. i lowkey hate how this turned out, but it was nice finally writing again !!

Lohen didn't love you.
He does as a friend, of course, but no amount of teasing from Varka could ever make him see you in a romantic light, no matter how much the old man insisted you'd look good together—the old man's only met you once, too.
Even Jean sided with him, ignoring Lohen's protests that he did not have a crush, or anything of the sort, on you. Amber legitimately believed you two were dating, and Eula would simply let her know it was only a matter of time until it happened. Mika was nice enough not to poke fun at him, but his words always came alongside a great deal of uncertainty.
You're just a friend, a rare occurence in his life, outside of training. Nothing more and nothing less.
The first time Lohen met you, was during highschool.
Like any other committed athlete, he didn't take school very seriously. Assignments were submitted with the bare minimum and classes were dedicated to napping and doodling, on the very rare occasions Lohen actually decided to attend.
He had acquaintances but not friends; people he'd play football and basketball with, but no one Lohen would go out of his way for.
Not that it mattered to him. Regardless of association, Lohen poked fun at whoever he wanted, and it was sufficient entertainment and 'companionship' for his school life.
So when he was assigned a partner for an English project, his first thought was how he was going to mess with you a bit. No one liked group projects and quite frankly, he needed some entertainment before forcing himself to do schoolwork.
You were quiet and kept to yourself, sitting towards the front with straight posture rather than retreating to the back of the classroom. He never intended to freeload off of your intellect, but Lohen wanted to indulge in your shock for a bit.
It was nothing personal, Lohen just thought it'd be funny. After a bit of entertainment he'll apologise. University applications were soon, after all, he was still going to do his best, knowing it'd affect you. University wasn't apart of his dreams, but it was clearly one of yours.
"So yeah. 'm not gonna do anything. Got a lot of training to go to. 'm sure you'll be fine because you're a smart cookie, right?"
You stared at him blankly in the school library, as he propped his feet onto the table.
You're processing his words, Lohen thought. You're going to hesitantly nod and avoid his gaze, probably without a word, too. You're way too introverted to snap back or retaliate—
"That's fine." You said, words clear as day. "You were never that...bright, anyways. I understand if this project is too difficult for you."
Lohen's jaw dropped as your pen resumed, dancing across your notebook and building onto the mind map you had laid out.
For someone who spent most of his time teasing others, Lohen had no words. He wanted to be offended, but that wasn't exactly waranted if he was the one who tried to piss you off in the first place.
Word after word appeared in your notebook, birthing sentences and paragraphs. Lohen had no idea how you wrote that fast, nor how you'd be able to read your cursive later.
"It's not hard—it's literally just a book report."
"No I get it, seriously. Not everyone's into reading and that's fine with me. You probably train too much to understand what Jane Austin's talking about."
His cheeks flared and he suddenly forgot how to speak normally. "She's not that complicated. I was joking."
A smirk creased at your lips. "Sure."
Before Lohen could retort, you pushed your notebook towards him, the entire plan already constructed. "You can prove that to me when we get an A on this."
And with that, marked the beginning of your friendship.
Contrary to his first impression, you weren't nearly as mischievious as him. Your weekly meetings when smoothly, as if he hadn't tried to poke fun at you the first time the two of you met.
Neither did you. You kept to yourself, typing away with a calculated fevour, as if your wits were merely a fragment of his imagination.
Aside from the very first study session you had together.
"Everything alright, Imunlaukr? Do you remember what a simile is?"
Lohen scoffed. "I'm not stupid."
"That's not what a simile is." Your pen twirled in your fingers. before ignoring whatever attempts he made at a witty comeback.
You went back to satisfying his expectations of an introverted bookworm, and the group project flew by quickly without trouble.
Lohen himself had no idea how you exactly became friends. The two of you were nothing alike; you were an unexplainable existence to him.
Within the two weeks you had that project together, he noticed your life was composed of a bland monotony, every afternoon was spent at the library without fail. You studied with the same routine and at the same library everyday and revised the same content. He didn't get why you were willing to do all of this; there was no thrill of a fight in studying, nor the same fulfillment as a workout.
"Why do you do this to yourself?" It was revolting to Lohen. Even your weekly meetings managed to bore him, he mustered every shred of willpower to survive those study sessions, thanking the lord for your intellect despite being a dedicated atheist. "I've only done this a few times and I already want to kill myself."
You had shrugged, fingers still typing. "I like good grades."
"Wow." Lohen droned, slouching over the desk as he struggled to piece together a final sentence. He was so close to finishing, yet every combination of words he could conjure simply fell flat, even for his standards. "Nerd."
Yet Lohen continued to follow, accompanying the end of your study sessions at the library, with the flimsy excuse of match analysis after his trainings.
"I don't like the library." Lohen grumbled, plopping down to the empty seat next to you, with takeout in one hand.
The library and studying still sucked, of course. But he had to make sure you didn't work yourself to death, and the library wasn't that far from his gym, anyways.
"You can go then." You quipped, adjusting your reading glasses. "The group project was done last week."
Lohen scoffed, placing the food next to you. "I have to make sure you don't kill yourself studying."
"Didn't you just have training? I thought your gym was in different suburb."
"It is."
You finally peeled yourself away from your notes. "Then why come here?"
It was only a thirty minute walk, and it served as a good cooldown anyways. "Isn't that what friends do?"
His heart skipped a beat. He hadn't realised you never agreed upon that notion. Lohen's friendships mainly consisted of his fellow training partners at the gym, and his coach Varka (if he could even be called that).
But you giggled, eyeing the takeaway containers. "I suppose you're right. I'll hurry up soon and we should eat together."
A victorious smile bloomed across his lips, as his feet swung underneath the table, the smell of fresh rice and stirfry coaxing him.
You liked reading. You were aiming for a law degree at a nearby uni, the one that dominated the rankings, and you preferred English far more than math. You were the type of person who ate their least favourite things first, and saved your favourites for the very end.
(Something about it "being special" and so you could savour it properly. Lohen found it silly. He always ate his favourite bits of a meal first, just in case he ever got full.)
These, among many things, he discovered about you. At first it was simply his company at the library. He'd prop up his phone on a pile of books from a random shelf and watch his MMA matches, with the pretense of 'analysis', when he was instead watching them for pure enjoyment.
On one cold night, he noticed you from the corner of his eye, leaning slightly to where his phone sat. Lohen pulled out his airpod and cocked a brow. "You interested?"
You nodded. "Isn't this what you want to do in the future? Get locked in a cage and beat up another shirtless guy for the world to see?"
Lohen snickered. "Pretty much. I like these guys, especially this one." He pointed to the left. "He's got a real good kick."
The two men threw careful punches and kicks at one another, gauging their distance and range. "I wanna be in their place someday."
"Why not drop out and just commit to it? You would've been pro by now." You commented, wincing at a particularly hard kick. In Lohen's ears, the audience exploded into excitement, a stark contrast with your reaction.
"Are you saying 'm too dumb for school?"
"Don't twist my words."
He chuckled, turning off his phone. "It's a deal with my parents. They didn't want me fighting but I refused to listen. They said they'd support me as long as I graduated and didn't fight while injured. I'd be on TV by now if I didn't have to stay in school."
Lohen remembered that tense dinner and his parent's refusal to meet his eyes. Despite their expectations he agreed, quite easily too. He knew that professional combat athletes were at risk of ruining their career at any moment. He should at least have a highschool degree just to be safe.
"Hmm. Fair. It's a shame you have to wait though. Especially when most athletes are allowed to go straight into competing."
Lohen shrugged. "I'll catch up to them easily." It's not like he had any other choice, anyways.
"If you say so. Make sure you don't forget me when you're famous, okay?"
Your company grew beyond your time together at the library. You eventually began seeking Lohen out at school, always offering him company. If the teacher announced groupwork your gaze would snap to him, even though other, much smarter people wanted to partner with you. During break times you'd come watch him play basketball, cheering him on and filling up his bottle whenever needed.
Lohen never asked nor wished for your presense, but he found himself attached to it over time.
"I need to buy a gift for someone. Can you help me today?"
You asked him one day, as the school bell dismissed everyone, sending the school into relief. Lohen didn:t have any training on, and you seemed to not have anything to revise.
"For who?"
"My cousin. He's into MMA too. I wanna buy him something from the sports store."
Lohen shrugged. "Sure. Sounds easy enough." The mall wasn't too far, and you were fun to spend time with. Rest days were difficult for Lohen. The urge to fight kept itching throughout each one, and Varka often yelled at him for trying to work out during them. Most of them were dedicated to watching MMA matches with a painful envy.
"So, I was thinking of getting him new gloves? He needs new ones and he trains all the time. But there's so many and I have no idea."
Lohen scanned the shelves. "Is he professional?"
"Trying to be."
Huh. Lohen only knew this guy through your words, but he seemed cool. "Well. The weight depends on what he's doing. If it's for heavy training, the heavier gloves are better to avoid injuring yourself and your sparring partners. But for competitions you're supposed to use the light ones."
You stared, confused and almost annoyed.
How did you understand math and not this? "I use these ones." Lohen grabbed the exact model of his. "If that helps."
Your eyes lit up. "Perfect. I'll get these then."
You flinched at the price tag and Lohen cackled. "Pricey, I know. You can settle for handwraps for him. We're still in highschool and I know a guy that likes to design cool ones."
You shook your head, holding the gloves close. "I saved up for this, don't worry."
Impressive, Lohen thought. The bank accounts of students weren't known to be abundant. He brushed it off, you were meticulous with school, it was only natural for the rest of your life to be just as organised.
Lohen accompanied you as you paid, requesting for a bag and a receipt. Together, you walked out, and before Lohen could propose hanging out for longer, you held out the shopping bag.
"For you."
"I'm not your cousin."
"Yeah no shit. These were always going to be for you." You pushed the bag closer, shoving it into his chest. "I saw that yours were beaten up."
Lohen's chest flared up. "I have money—this shit is expensive and my parents are well off. You didn't have to." He just didn't replace them because he didn't like money. If he was going to get a replacement, then it'd be when his current gear is rendered completely unusable.
You shrugged. "But you never replaced them. If it's too early or whatever you can put them away for now. Receipt's there if you change your mind too."
He still refused to accept the gift, allowing you to keep it pressed into his chest. "You don't have to do this for me."
"But I want to. And I don't really care, either." Your hands pounced on his, and for once in his life, his reflexes permitted someone else to exert such control over him. "It's a thank you for all the food and snacks you bring to the library for me."
You ran off, your big school bag awkwardly bouncing on your back.
"I share that crap with you, idiot—" He called out. You always insisted you were full whenever you ate together, and always threatened to throw it out if he didn't believe it. "And come back—"
Lohen sprinted after you, a warmth already settled onto his pale cheeks long before he pursued you.
Lohen hated Valentines Day.
He's not sure why school decided to take it so seriously. The student committee turned it into a charity event, selling anonymous serenades and roses. Lohen found it ridiculous, the songs they selected were generic and boring, and always sung live by people who clearly didn't belong in performing arts.
He shrivelled his nose up at another stupid couple, who were making out in the corridor right as he turned the corner. For the rest of his route to class, he had to push past stupid freshmen holding hands, taking up the entire hallway and having the audacity to act surprised.
When he finally made it to class he dropped into his seat besides you, groaning.
"What happened to you?"
"I hate Valentines Day."
"Really? I think it's nice."
"It's not."
"Aw." You fake pouted at him. "I'll buy you a rose next time."
Lohen sat up. "You actually spent money on this shit?"
"Yeah. I got a rose for my single friends." You unpacked your things, preparing your notebook and stationary. "Next time I'll get something for you. If you're still single by next Valentine's."
He scoffed, going back to slouching on his table. "Ew. No thanks."
Class went by as normal, until the Valentine's Days gifts arrived to your class. Students were dressed in pink and decorated in hearts, with obscene props.
They read out names, handing out roses, chocolates, and candies, before heading where you sat.
You stared up at them with uncertain eyes before they burst out in love song.
From where he sat, Lohen watched you turn red. First, your cheeks began to resemble tomatoes, and then your ears glowed pink, as well. By the end of the song you were clearly flustered, and embarrassed, to the point Lohen didn't even want to tease you for it.
After class, someone else spoke to you before him, yelling across the classroom.
"I wonder who bought that for you—" One of the boys snapped, cackling away with his equally obnoxious friends. "Look at red they are."
Before everyone's eyes could turn on you, you ran out the door, clearly uncomfortable and upset.
Lohen's gaze drifted to where the boys sat, before he slowly stood up and followed.
By the end of the day, Lohen had them on their knees, in a discrete area in the school, begging for forgiveness with bloody noses and bruised skin.
Every plea was ignored as he headed off in search of you. The class he just skipped should be done by now, meaning you were also done with the school day. He spat at the boys before running off. He had no clue who they were and why they ordered you a love song, nor what your relationship with them was, but he discarded his curiosity and searched for you, in hopes of being able to cheer you up.
Your familiar back came into view, near the school gates. His hands pounced on your shoulders and he cloaked himself over you.
"Wanna go to a bakery with me?"
You furrowed your brows. "Aren't you dieting now?"
"It's for you. You're also single and lonely like me."
Wrestling him off, you retorted. "I thought you hate Valentine's Day."
Lohen shrugged. "It's compensation for having to deal with all these stupid couples." A pair of first years snapped their neck towards him, cowering away before shuffling down the hallway. Lohen snickered at the sight, quickly returning to normal before you'd notice and tell him off for being mean. "I've seen all your likes on social media. You keep liking posts about the new bakery nearby."
He carefully watched your expression as it melted into a yield. It soldified into his victory. "Sure then. As long as you're fine with it."
Of course Lohen was. The desserts didn't matter as long as you were there.
"What is love?" Lohen asked out of the blue, after a full day of being driven crazy by obnoxious couples.
You took a few more photos before putting your phone away. "Why're you asking that all of a sudden?"
Lohen scoffed, watching you dig into a cheesecake. "And why aren't you answering me? Don't answer my question with another question."
With your mouth full, you hummed. "Well...I don't exactly know."
"Very useful."
"Shut up." You took a sip of water before continuing. "I've never been in love, and I doubt you have, either."
"Isn't that why 'm asking you?"
Lohen watched you fumble with a strawberry, before slumping into the booth and sighing. The bakery was no exception to the festivity of Valentines Day, swarming with couples both young and old, shamelessly cooing at one another. The sight grossed him out; some even went as far as borderline making out and groping each other.
Half the cheesecake was gone, and crumbs perched on the corner of your mouth. "Why are you asking, though?"
He shrugged. "You're the smartest person I know. And so many fucking idiots are making out everywhere we go."
You hummed, sucking on your fork. "I mean, I don't think relationships and love are the same thing."
Lohen already anticipated a headache, at the complexity of things you explained. But by no means were you the one irritating him.
"Like, plenty of people are just together because they're lonely or whatever. Especially at our age. I think it's just someone you want to be with forever?" You scraped up a bit of cream from the plate with a finger, before licking it up. "But if I had to give it a definition...it depends."
Well no shit were you getting into law, you already allergic to short, straight answers that made sense.
"Everyone likes different things. Everyone has their own goals for the future, and everyone is fundamentally really different. I think love would be when all these things align within two people, and they're attracted to each other I guess?" You listed off the criteria on your fingers. "And of course, adding in the fact that neither parties are toxic or abusive to the other."
"I guess it's about finding someone who aligns in their idea of love with you." You concluded, satisfied with the answer you conjured.
Lohen nodded along. That actually made plenty of sense, compared to the simple 'explanations' of 'you know when you know' or 'you'll feel butterflies in your stomach'.
"But then again, at our age I think it's a matter of hooking up." You deadpanned, grabbing a huge chunk of cake.
Lohen agreed. He had no idea why he was asking in the first place anyways. You were committed to your studies and all he cared was for martial arts. You both had far more important things to dedicate yourself to. "And getting in everyone's day."
You jolted straight. "I know right? Isn't making out embarrassing? Oh and also—" You stabbed a strawberry with your fork. "Open."
He's not being fed by someone else. Lohen covered his mouth. "No. 'm not a baby."
"Oh come on—you haven't eaten anything. And fruits are healthy. You should try the cheesecake too."
"I'll die." Literally. Lohen agreed to his club's harsh diet plans and schedules. "One of my coaches will kill me. Or my friends will."
"Just say I forced it against your will. Which is exactly what I'm doing right now, no?"
Your fork kept insisting. Lohen sighed and opened his mouth, while leaning in closer. The strawberry was sweet, so sweet to the point his nose scrunched and squeezed his eyelids shut. "It's good."
"Try the cheesecake too. Just a bit." You already had some on your fork, holding it up again. "We can walk around and burn it off together."
This time, Lohen relented immediately, deciding that Varka and Jean would never find out, anyways.
Your birthday was coming.
Lohen himself had no idea. He overheard a girl in braided pigtails asking if you were going to throw a party, and if your underclassmen were allowed; to which you smiled and ruffled her hair, saying you'd love to celebrate with her. She celebrated with two blue haired boys, immediately planning on a cake flavour for you. Nilou from biology class already teased your gift, to which you giggled and tried to guess, and apparently Childe, the rumoured rich kid already brought you a gift, courtesy of an overseas trip he was going on for god knows what.
Lohen however, had no idea what to get you.
He knows you read a lot, but he was too unfamiliar with any form of literature to pick out something anything good, nor did he want to blindly trust a random influencers. Anyone knows you care a lot for your studies, but buying a gift related to school is just pathetic, and besides, no top student enjoyed studying, you yourself only did it for the grades and opportunities.
Your birthday month was approaching, with far more ease than Lohen preferred.
He could've asked, but that would've ruined the surprise. It'd ruin the thrill of opening up his gift, and he didn't want to seem like he didn't understand you well enough.
Especially not after you noticed his worn out gear.
Lunchtime was coming to a halt. You were in the library helping people cram for an upcoming test. Lohen played basketball as always. He filled up his bottle at the bubblers, already dreading having to go back to class.
"I dunno what to get for Y/n's birthday."
Lohen leaned ever so slightly, summoning all his will to not whip his head instantly.
The first voice, who he'd assume was Kaveh, moaned to Nilou, who sighed and reassured him. "Anything from Sanrio works. They love Cinnamoroll."
Cinnamoroll. Lohen engraved it in his mind before hurrying away, immediately, typing it into his phone.
A white bunny with pale blue eyes appeared. He recognised her from your bag, you had a little keychain of your head. Lohen always wondered who exactly that was.
This was perfect. Today was a night session at the club, he had time to pop by the mall before training.
So he hid in the back of the classroom as always, carefully researching on his phone for where he could buy you a Cinnamoroll. He was the first to hurry out the door at the teacher's dismissal. Glued to his phone, he made his way to the Sanrio store.
The store was far out of his comfort zone, a myriad of pastel colours and cute animals. Lohen stepped in, clearly out of place.
But luckily, he didn't need help. He instantly recognised Cinnamoroll, a figure with a beach party theme. Lohen was never interested in this kind of merch, but even he found it cute.
The shelf had nothing but Cinnamoroll, too. Thank god she wasn't a fan favourite; his shopping trip concluded smoothly, and he didn't even need to ask the staff to check the back or to provide recommendations.
Lohen smiled. Today was going well, he thought, as he hurried to training.
"Since when did you like Sanrio?" Eula peered over Lohen's shoulder and stared into his bag during stretching. "You seem extra weird to me now."
Lohen pulled out his phone. "It's not for me. For my friend's birthday."
"That makes more sense." She mumbled. "Why buy one of these though?"
"Cinnamoroll. The bunny. She's on this." Lohen pointed to where the bunny stood, holding up a volleyball with her usual pink cheeks. ""My friend loves her."
Eula had never looked at anyone with such disgust. It was a low bar, considering she loved to glare at most.
"First off, Cinnamoroll is a guy—"
"—that's a male??"
Lohen stared at the box with dismay. What the fuck?
"And second, he's a dog."
"Are you fucking kidding me?"
"Shut up and listen." Eula snapped. Lohen zipped his mouth as he savoured every word from the expert in front of him. "Just because he's on the front, doesn't mean it's actually Cinnamoroll."
Lohen's brow furrowed, and Eula sighed before snatching the box. She turned it to the side.
"See here? These are all the things you can get."
The side of the box was adorned with rows of other characters. All Lohen recognised was Hello Kitty, and the rest meant nothing to him.
"Why is Cinnamoroll on the front then?"
She sighed. "It's a blind box, Lohen. It's basically gambling. Cinnamoroll just happened to be the front cover."
Lohen stared at the box, as if betrayed by it. "That's fucking stupid. How these still in business then?" Why not just...buy the character you like? All Lohen gave a shit about was getting Cinnamoroll. If he wanted a gambling addiction he'd go to the casino, or start betting on horse races.
Eula shrugged, finishing up her cooldown stretch. "I dunno either." She shuffled over to where Amber was, talking to her friend as Lohen processed her explanation.
Right. So now he had to go back and buy you an actual Cinnamoroll.
Well done Lohen, well done.
"Alright. Your friend likes Cinnamoroll, right?"
Eula made the very kind offer to accompany him, insisting that Lohen needed the help, and she wanted to browse through the store anyways.
"Plushies are nice. I think the stationary's cute but they're probably not the most practical—" Eula strolled through the aisles, scanning through every product. "Lohen. I didn't mean buying everything I look at."
Lohen stared at the mountain of merchandise he was holding. "But why not?"
Eula scrunched her nose. "That costs like 300 dollars minimum."
He hasn't bought any new training gear, thanks to your stunt from the other day, and he hadn't touched his allowance for this month. Worst comes to worst, he'll use his savings that he's kept aside for when he can finally move out. "So?"
The woman sighed, before helping him carry a plushie. "Love really makes you do funny things, huh?"
"Stop that."
Lohen deadpanned and Eula flinched, surprised at the sudden change in tone. She muttered an apology before inspecting another display to avoid looking at him.
He scratched his nape 'til the flesh was red and throbbing. "Sorry—dunno why I got so defensive." Lohen cleared his throat. "We're not dating. I just want to do something nice..."
It felt pathetic enough that he had to eavesdrop on others' conversations to even gain an idea of what to get you, and how he was relying on another friend. Lohen thought he had to compensate for his shortcomings somehow.
Eula watched the younger boy softly. "I think you're doing great so far."
"I literally had to get your help."
"Eh. You cared enough to go out of your way. I'm surprised you even know Cinnamoroll."
Lohen scratched at his nape again. "Someone else mentioned her—I mean him. So I kinda just stole the idea."
Eula shrugged. "That's fine. You could've asked your friend too."
"That's lame, no?"
"I don't think so. It still means you care and you're willing to listen. It'd rather someone take the things I say seriously." Eula paused browsing the shelves, turning to Lohen with a soft look on her face. "It'll be okay. We'll figure it out together."
Denial danced at the tip of his tongue, but he swallowed it down before nodding. He was grateful for her help before he was doubtful of his birthday gift to you.
"Now c'mon." Eula pried another plushie out of Lohen's arms. "You can't go that crazy. I promise I'll help you find something good."
Lohen gave up on protesting and followed her.
Your birthday came, fast.
Lohen avoided spending 300 dollars that night, and with the help of Eula, he managed to piece together what he thought, was a good gift.
Pick a plushie you think suits them. They like collecting them, don't they?
Don't worry about picking out a book if you don't know any, just get a giftcard. That way they can pick whatever they like.
I just spoke to one of the staff members. She said heated face masks are good for strained eyes, so you can throw those in too since they're studying to get into uni.
Write a card too—
Lohen had argued, insisting that he was terrible with words. I'm basically illiterate in front of them. I'll look stupid
Eula scoffed. I don't care.
He had opened his mouth to argue but Eula had cut him off. You said you wanted to pay me back, right? Write the damn card.
So, he did his best. He thanked you for being so understanding, and how cool it was to watch your dedicated to your goals. He thanked your kindness and consideration, and how warm your company was.
Lohen thanked you, for being you. With his messy, but honest handwriting, he put whatever came to mind on the card, throwing the pen across the room out of frustration and returned to his phone.
At 11:59pm, he glared at every passing second. The happy birthday message was typed out beforehand and his thumb hovered over the send button.
Should he send it a bit earlier? What if his wifi is slow? But it'd be embarrassing if he sent it too early by accident, and his desparation would be obvious—
The clock struck twelve, and he hit send, before tossing his phone on the bed. It vibrated in his sheets, Lohen pounced on it immediately.
Thanks Lohen !! how were you so fast? you're usually asleep at this time
Well, today wasn't exactly a 'usual' day, was it? You always went to sleep early, too.
i wanted to be the first to say it. ill see you at school tmr
Lohen stared at the roof before throwing his blanket over his impossibly hot face, as sleep brought him daylight.
At school, you were loved. As always.
Before he could say hi, Nilou had pounced on you, giggling about you were finally 18. Candace joined her, her gift joined the one you received from Nilou, hanging off your forearm.
Soon, your arms were filled with presents and you garnered birthday wishes from both students and teachers alike.
Lohen swore he'd give you his when breaktime came around, but you were swarmed by then too. A group of students surrounded you at one of the benches, singing happy birthday over a cake with candles that Lohen was sure weren't allowed on school campus.
He hesitated, deciding after school was a better time. He didn't know any of these people, and they didn't know him. It'd be awkward if he butted in now, while they were cheering in chorus.
But even when the school day ended, Lohen was embarrassed, and you were unapproachable for some particular reason. You were still surrounded by people, your other friends asked you for your plans tonight and insisted on you to throw a party whenever you could. With burning ears, Lohen really began to ponder if he was going to chicken out.
It didn't matter, since you were already walking towards him with a smile.
"I haven't seen you all day. I missed you."
Lohen tensed at the diction, before concealing it with his gift. "M–me too. I had to give you this." Lohen helped carry your other gifts as you headed somewhere quiet to open his present.
Hopefully, you'll pull out the plushie, and swoon about how adorable it was, before celebrating how it's new addition to your collection. Then, you'll notice the gift card and eye masks, and read the card at home, where he wouldn't have to watch you read it in front of him.
But your fingers brought it out first, gently tearing the envelope open before reading its contents.
Of every fight and training session he'd attended, Lohen's face had never felt so hot. With every moment he spent staring at your face his anxiety was only nourished, yet he couldn't stop watching your every movement, either.
You smiled, thankfully.
"This is so sweet! Thank you, Lohen." You peered into the bag, admiring the contents before putting the card back in. "You got me so much, too."
That statement sounded silly, when someone baked an entire cake for you and another friend brought you a plushie that your arm could barely wrap around.
"And I'm really happy to be your friend too." You said, picking your things up again. "I'm glad I had that group project with you."
Relief washed over Lohen. His muscles finally relaxed, and he no longer felt sick with anticipation. "Me too."
Lohen wiped his palms on his uniform before clearing his throat and hoisting your gifts. "I'll carry these to your place."
"Aren't you training today?"
"Training's cancelled." Lohen held your gifts out of your reach before heading for the school gate. "I need to kill time."
You hurried after him, having given up on declining his help. "You should stop by at my place for some food then."
"Sounds good to me."
Lohen did in fact have training that day. But you didn't need to know that.
It was tests like these that made Lohen grateful he wasn't trying to get accepted into university.
The scarlet 40 donning his test paper was a nauseating sight, even for him. Passing came easily for him normally, but the essay questions on this exam were verbose enough to throw him off, and he managed to stuff up multiple choice. He skimmed through it after training, before stuffing it into his pocket and skipping into the night. He should check on how you were feeling, too.
Speak of the devil, you were sipping on a cup of milk tea near the convenience store, seated on a bench. Lohen hurried over to you, akin to a puppy finding its owner.
"Hey. How'd you do on the test?" Knowing you, you definitely got an A at minimum, and probably top in the class, as well. But you didn't smile, your eyes were tired and you slouched. "Not good? You seem a bit upset."
You took a final sip before removing your drink and nodding a bit. "I got a 90."
"Why would you be upset about that, dumbass?" The general consensus was a fail, or barely passing. Lohen watched a group of honour roll students bicker about mark allocations and rankings, knowing damn well you were smarter than any of them. "You did great, what are you even on?"
Lohen scoffed, and he regretted it immediately when he heard you cry. He burst into apology, before panicking. "Shit—I was just being a dumbass, I'm sorry."
You hiccuped and continued crying, without sign of stopping anytime soon.
"Here—" He held your hand, savouring its warmth before closing it into a proper fist, making sure your thumb was positioned correctly. "—you hold a fist like this, then you can punch me as hard as you want. Beat me as much as you need. You can slap me if that's easier too—the back hand hits harder. I'm sorry—please don't be mad at me."
Lohen hurried into the convenience store for tissues, he clearly wasn't helping. He made sure to grab that one brand of melon ice cream you loved, and added those chewy candies you loved after seeing them displayed at the front.
You calmed down, eventually.
"Sorry..." You blew your nose, the tip turning dry and red. "I know you're right. It's really not bad..."
"Stop apologising, I was the one being a bitch." Lohen remembered to breathe, picking up your used tissues to throw out later.
"You weren't exactly wrong, though." You stared at your hands, one of your fingers donned a large callus, and ink stained were scattered across your palm. "It's just that nothing ever feels enough for me. All I thought about was how I could've gotten much better if I didn't make such a stupid mistake."
It was odd hearing you, out of all people saying something like that, when you've always been more than enough.
"Heck, even if I got an 100—" You sniffled. "—I'd see it as a fluke and think it means nothing since it was a one time thing."
"I guess..." You mumbled, bringing up your knees to rest your forearms and head on them. "I guess I'm just stressed about getting into uni. It's hard to feel good about anything when it's so important to me."
Lohen had no idea what to say nor do. Academics meant nothing to him, and he wasn't even allowed to pursue his career until he graduated. He clearly had no right to comment on your insecurity and worries, you were far more capable.
So he tore the ice cream open and handed it to you.
"To be honest, I'm really useless with this stuff." You took the ice cream, though reluctant, Lohen celebrated internally. "But I'll try my best. Food makes things better. I'll get you more if you want."
(What was he even saying?)
"For what it's worth, you're plenty capable. I can't change how you feel, but I still want to remind you." Lohen stared at an ant on the pavement. It followed its friends in an orderly line that his teachers from primary would've envied.
Lohen was sure he'd look even more stupid if he looks you in the eye while saying all of this. "I think it's good you're always determined to improve. I just hope you won't forget how amazing you are while you do."
His gaze ventured upwards slowly, finally looking at your face. Your eyes were puffy, but you nodded along to his words, ice cream coating your lips.
"I'm sorry again for making you cry." Lohen added. He'll shut up for real now.
You shook your head, licking at the ice cream. "It wasn't you. School just makes me moody sometimes."
"You can still beat me up if needed. I can take it, and it'll be good stress relief."
"No thank you."
He shrugged. "My offer's always open. But seriously." Lohen leaned back on his palms, thankful you stopped crying. "If I can do anything, just tell me. Please."
With wet, wide eyes you looked at him, wiping your mouth before nodding. "Then...can we just talk about something else? Just not school or exams."
"I saw a cat today." Lohen blurted. "It was really fucking chunky."
Lohen cringed at himself, but you laughed, almost choking on the ice cream. "Did you take a photo? I wanna see."
"Probably, hang on, lemme check..."
Together, you sat there, watching all of people of the night pass by while talking about whatever came to mind. Lohen prayed that you'd soon find something to comfort you, since he knew very well he couldn't.
Your first entrance examination was today.
Despite his urges to ask, Lohen never brought up school with you. He itched to check up on your study sessions and desperately wanted to cheer you on, but he pledged to himself to avoid stressing you out even more, and Lohen kept his promises.
The past month or two was torturous, not knowing anything about your preparations. As extreme as it may have seemed, Lohen had occasionally wished he was smart as well, so he could've been of some use to you.
At the crack of dawn, with the excuse of a morning jog, Lohen went to your house, carrying a makeup pouch his mum never used. While shifting his weight on both his feet, Lohen texted you to come out.
Soon, the front door creaked open, with you already in uniform. You gave him a small wave before he bounced up the steps.
"I know you're super busy and shit so I'll make this quick." Lohen held out the pouch to you. "I'm sorry I couldn't do anything to make you feel better for this moment, but I still wanted to do my best to help."
You blinked, fishing through the makeup pouch.
Inside, were random essentials Lohen thought would help. He found the eyedrops you used for your dry eyes at the local pharmacy, and packed those alongside a pack of gum (the ones he liked to share with you; he found them to be good stress relief, so hopefully you would too) and a few heatpacks, after your complaints about not being able to write as fast in the cold. Lohen put a tray of throat lozenges and painkillers, just in case an emergency happened. Although he didn't know what kind of pens you liked, he bought a few new ones as spares for you as well.
It's been a while to see one this bright, but you smiled. Uncontrollably, too. "This is amazing Lohen, thank you so much—"
"—good luck with your exams." Lohen cut you off, accidentally. "You've worked so hard, it's gonna pay off. And if uni doesn't take you then it's probably not worthy going at all."
(Lohen swore at himself for mentioning the possibility of that. He wanted it to sound funny, but now all he did was potentially make you think about not getting in.)
"I won't bother you anymore—"
"—at least let me finish." You zipped the pouch. "Stop saying you're of no help. You're everything." You looked down at the pouch with a tender smile. "You, and everything you've done for me are so precious, alright?"
His heart skipped a beat, and he almost forgot to nod.
"I'll be okay, I promise. I'll stop by your gym to say hi."
Unsure of what else to say, he wished you good luck again and bid you farewell, before ushering you back inside.
Towards the end of the day, Lohen saw you through the glass window.
He cut his current set of squats short, sprinting to the front to greet you. Lohen held a thumbs up and an intrigued expression reserved only for you, before you smiled back and returned the gesture.
"Knew it." Lohen grinned. "Told you."
You beamed. "Did I come at a bad time?"
Lohen shook his head. "Today's just a gym session. And you're always welcome here anyways." He grabbed his shirt and wiped his sweat off, awkwardly waiting for you to respond. "Everything alright?"
You blinked aggressively, gaze flitting. "Yeah, everything's fine."
The door behind him opened, and Mika came out with a sigh. "Why are you running off this time, Lo—oh. Hello."
You politely greeted Mika back, who turned to Lohen and whispered. "Your...?"
"—friend." Lohen snapped. "What were you saying, again?"
Mika glanced back into the gym, where Varka was coming. "Varka told me to come get you."
Great. The old man probably had a lecture in store for him.
But the scolding never came, for Varka immediately went for you instead.
"Ah. Lohen's friend?"
You nodded. "Sorry if I'm interrupting anything, sir."
"You're fine." Varka waved it off. "How can we help ya?"
Lohen interjected. "They're telling me about their exam. Shoo." He wants to spend time with you, not listening to his coach drone on and on.
Varka ignored him and continued talking to you. "For university?" When you nodded, Varka beamed, large chest swelling up with pride despite not knowing you. "Well, good job today, kid. If you ever get stressed come over and beat up Lohen. Buuuut, I can tell you're smart enough to get by fine."
You laughed at the joke, adjusting your bag. "I'll leave the fighting to you guys."
Before Lohen could slip back inside to grab his things and leave with you, Varka boomed, and his proposal to you made Lohen's blood run cold.
"You should come in. I've got photos of this one." A beefy forearm wrapped around Lohen, tugging him closer. "—when he was little and started out."
Embarrassment shot to his face, Lohen writhed and spat. "Too far."
But you accepted, eyes lighting up. "Yes please—"
Before Lohen could protest further, Varka opened the door for you, where the rest of the gym welcomed you with open arms and curiosity.
Training was much easier, knowing that you were done with exams. With every exam, each update you gave him gradually became more confident, and naturally, Lohen was happier.
I'm so happy I'll never have to do chemistry ever again
Thank god sir kept giving us math homework throughout the year...they threw so many curveballs at us lol. dunno why they made the papers harder for us but it's fine
I bent Shakespeare over ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ
No subject left you clueless, aside from a couple of strange questions, you reported back only good results to Lohen, beaming about it was far less intimidating than expected.
Now, you were on a road trip with your family to celebrate.
The day you're back, Lohen already cleared his schedule to have your own celebration together. He'll let you pick a place to eat, wherever you want and covered by him, obviously.
Only three more days, Lohen reminded himself, as he continued his stretches to wrap up today's session.
"How do you tell if you like someone?" Amber asked out of the blue, while stretching.
Varka cocked a brow and leaned closer. "Are you interested in someone? Who's the lucky guy?"
"You didn't answer the question, Varka." Amber deadpanned as she continued stretching. "And it's not a guy."
Varka stuttered before loudly clearing his throat. "Who's the lucky girl?"
"That's still not an answer." Amber huffed.
Kaeya intervened, as he passed with a box of gear. "Imagine them dating someone else."
Lohen scoffed, looking up from his stretch. "Does that actually work?"
The older man scoffed. "Obviously. If you feel indifferent then it means you're just friends. Plus if you're questioning it, then you probably like them already anyways."
Amber pulled a face as she took a moment to ponder. "Ew. Thanks Kaeya. That worked great."
Lohen and Kaeya watched Varka guess Amber's newfound crush. Lohen quickly went back to stretching, muttering about it being stupid.
"It's true." Kaeya insisted, refusing to let go of it.
Lohen rolled his eyes. "Shut up already."
He kept teasing. 'Imagine it with me and you'll see what I mean by indifferent."
"I can't even imagine you dating someone, Kaeya."
But he could imagine you.
You're intelligent. And pretty. And nice, and comfortable; the kind of person that listened without judgement and tread carefully around the emotions of others. Not to mention you were cute, and attractive. You had a nice smile and something about your face he couldn't name made him want to treasure you. Once you're accepted into university, you'll probably start dating, most likely someone from the same faculty—
Fuck. There's a pang of nausea and envy striking his gut.
For the sake of his sanity and your friendship, Lohen was going to pretend Kaeya's methodology had no validity.
A GUT FEELING . . . Shin has a dilemma: he’s crushing on his civilian co-worker, who’s baffled that he seems to just know better than anyone. His best excuse? “It was just a gut feeling.” Oh, and another dilemma: your thoughts are painfully loud and clear that you’d pounce on him if given the chance.
𐙚 — convenience store worker! reader x shin
𐙚 — suggestive. f! reader, who is a civilian. mentions of taking care of a sick parent. minimal undertones of angst. mostly fluff. kissing! reader thirsting over shin. unedited. (ik his mind reading powers is on verbal thoughts, but. for the sake of the fic lets just go with it lmao.) have not written in a while so please be nice LOL. 5k wc.
𐙚 — RAAAAA IM JUST IN A SHIN BRAINROT HES SO BF CODED IM CLAWING AT THE WALLS CUZ I NEED HIM SO BAD
If you told Shin a few months ago that he’d be a convenience store worker in the future, he might have laughed in your face. For starters, he had to learn some things – like how the chime of the convenience store wasn’t as alarming as the sharp click of a safety being disengaged. To him, the fluorescent lights and the rhythmic hum of the refrigerated aisles were like fragments of a dream.
He moved around the convenience store with practiced ease, effortlessly stacking chips and sorting cans. Every now and then, a customer would come in, and he’d follow them with a basket ready on hand, supplied with the items they would want. And while their impressed – and shocked – faces were no longer a new thing for him, it never failed to make his heart do that little fluttering bounce.
At least here, his mind reading abilities weren't weird. It didn’t make him a freak. It didn’t make him creepy or disgusting. He was just Shin, the cashier and convenience store worker, adored by the customers for always anticipating their needs beforehand.
Here, he felt needed.
Closing the refrigerator, he smoothed his apron out. There was just one more area to check when a familiar ding rang around. Looking up, he plastered on his biggest smile, walking over to the automatic sliding doors.
“Hello. Welcome to—” Instantly, Shin was bombarded with a flurry of anxious thoughts. He saw flashes of an eviction notice, of empty cupboards housing only an expired ramen noodle cup, and bedroom lights that flickered twice before the room went completely dark.
Shin couldn’t help but wince.
Clearly, someone wasn’t having the best time, yet the bright smile on your face said otherwise. Perhaps a little too bright for someone who’d skipped breakfast today (your fridge was also, sadly, unoccupied.)
“Hi. I, uh, saw your poster outside. I saw that you were hiring for a part-time worker?”
“Oh,” He blinked. Mr. Sakamoto hadn’t told him anything about it, but he saw glimpses of you walking around the same area a few days ago, your eyes brightening up at the HELP WANTED poster plastered outside. You’d ran home then, emailing the address written down below.
Fighting back a sigh, he scratched the back of his head. “Yeah, I suppose we are, but the owner isn’t around yet. Maybe you can leave your number though? I’ll call you when he’s ready for an interview.”
You tipped your head to the side, a frown on your lips. “Really? It says there to look for Mr. Shin, though, and that–” taking two steps closer, you were suddenly in his face, your eyes narrowed at the sight of his nametag. Shin couldn’t, for the life of him, explain why his senses clouded over at the scent of roses that wafted over him. “–seems to be you. Unless I’m mistaken?”
Roses, with a hint of vanilla.
It had been the last pump of your scented body wash, one you used generously to make an impression for your job interview. Heaven knows you couldn’t afford to be turned down again. And just like that – with the image of you slumping over your shower as the bottle came out empty – Shin’s cheeks flushed a deep red.
He shook his head free from the image. Jeez, he thought, and took a step back until his tailbone hit the counter, I don’t even know this person.
“No, uh, that’s definitely me. Shin, I mean.” Way to go, he cheered sourly, so damn smooth.
Your lips twisted into a grin again. “Great! Then I’m ready. I already have my resume already in case you need to look at it.” Your hands remained by your side, but in your head, he felt it. The need to twitch, to practically shove your papers into his face and get down on your knees, if need be. Hire me, please! I’m a really diligent worker and fast learner! Your mind screamed.
Plucking the resume from your hands, he skimmed through it. “Wow, uh,” Your entire record screamed civilian. Civilian high school, regular background, no criminal record. You wouldn’t fit into this store if you asked him. “This seems… okay. You work the cashier a lot?”
“I did at my past two jobs, yeah. I promise I know my way around,” you wrung your hands together at your back, sending him a sheepish smile. “So… am I hired?”
Your mind began to scream in desperation. The pay wouldn’t be much – you’d have preferred a full-time position, if just to get you by for this month so you wouldn’t be camping out in the streets – but it was better than nothing. Also, Shin’s head was hurting. He never imagined one could be so distressed that their mind was literally nothing but desperate pleas to be accepted.
He was nearly tempted to say yes if it hadn’t been for one fact: you were too innocent to be around someone like him.
“I’ll have to get back to you on that.”
That night during dinner, when Shin’s belly was full with soup and his mouth stuffed with rice, he brought the issue up to his employer. “Sakamoto-san, you never told me you were hiring!”
“Shin-chan,” Hana poked his side, “Mommy says it’s not polite to talk when your mouth is full.”
Shame crept up the back of his neck. Swallowing his food, he placed his bowl down and smiled sheepishly at Hana before turning back to her father. As usual, Sakamoto-san was unbothered. The man was simply scooping more rice back into his bowl.
“You could’ve looked at the posters outside,” he replied in his mind.
“But I wasn’t in charge of cleaning duty, Lu was,” He pointed to the red-head, who was happily passed out beside him, crumbs of rice littered around her mouth. He nudged her awake. “Oi, Lu, did you know you were hiring?”
Lu’s eyes blearily opened. “Huh? Yeah. Sakamoto-san told me to put that up the other day. I thought you would’ve seen.”
“I would’ve if a certain co-worker of mine didn’t leave me to handle stocking up all by myself,” he snorted to himself. It was true that their tasks around the store weren’t fairly divided. Lu always came in late, and did more de-organizing than actually organizing. But Shin cared about the little bugger, and only complained half-heartedly. He knew deep down he’d happily take on her duties if it meant they were all safe under the same roof.
“Sakamoto-san… Not that I’m telling you how to run your shop, but why would we need another worker? And a civilian, at that. Does she even know who she’s working with?”
“Of course not. She doesn’t need to know.”
“But we’re retired hitmen! And Lu’s a mafia family’s daughter!”
“I’m aware.”
Shin couldn’t wrap his head around it. “What if she gets into danger? You know we’ve had hitmen coming in here often. How could she defend herself when that happens?”
“That’s why I’m only hiring for a part-timer. She’d be working with you, or Lu. Never alone. The reason we needed one anyway is because we’re spending less time in the shop. It wouldn’t hurt to have another person helping out.”
“But… Couldn’t we have hired Heisuke? It’d be easier to work without having to hide your identity all the time.”
“Do you really trust Heisuke to check stock and inventory?” At Shin’s defeated expression, Sakamoto continued eating. “I already checked her background. She’s good. Tomorrow is her first day, and she works the first shift with you. Teach her everything she needs to know.”
Truthfully, Shin hoped it was going to be that easy. He’d already taught Lu everything before, starting from the basics to contacting the suppliers whenever they ran out of something. It really wasn’t as complicated as it seemed. It all just depended on the person. He believed if one was determined enough, they’d get the hang of it easily. If he’d taught Lu and survived, then teaching you – someone who already has knowledge with the cashier – should be a breeze.
Only it wasn’t.
Now that you had your head up in the clouds at being hired, and having a stable job, your mind was now only noticing other things. Those other things being Shin.
What a beautiful shade of blond hair, you mused once, when he was telling you which items went with which, and why they were in those specific aisles. Or is it golden? it looks more golden when the sunlight hits him. And why the hell is he a convenience store worker? Someone that good-looking should be doing something else. Modeling, maybe? But nah. He’s got more of that boy-next-door vibe.
Shin hoped the ground would open up and just eat him. “It’s only day one,” he tried to comfort himself, “She’s just getting used to things.”
Oh, how wrong he was.
As the weeks passed, he learned that everything you thought about yourself was true. You were a diligent worker, and an extremely fast learner – when you weren’t distracted by his long, elegant fingers, that was. You often volunteered to work overtime, or cover Lu’s shifts for her when she slept in again. Shin thought it showed your determination to work. Maybe you needed that overtime pay badly, to make ends meet.
Unfortunately for you (and him), he could read minds, and your mind wasn’t as subtle as your actions were.
On the day Lu didn’t come in again when she was supposed to, you offered to stay behind. “It’s really okay,” you told him, turning your nose the other way as you bit your cheek. Shin had taken off his apron and rolled his sleeves all the way up to his elbow, checking just how much more meat was left in the freezer. Oooh la la, he heard from your mind, your teeth sinking into your cheeks as he saw an image of his forearms of all things. Look at those veins. Damn it, why did my co-worker have to be so fine?
Shin coughed out loud. Although your mind never hid your blatant interest in him, he never got used to it. He didn’t think he was special, much less… appealing to someone like you.
How would you react anyway, once you found out he wasn’t as ‘adorable’ or ‘drool-worthy’ as you thought? He was a hitman. The hands you dreamt of holding were once stained with blood.
“So,” he began, “What were you doing before you started working here? And why this store of all places?”
He already knew the answer to all of those. He already knew you dropped out of university to tend to your sick mother, the reason why you moved back to this town. He already knew you’d given up on your dreams, left your friends – and even a partner behind – to focus more on family. He already knew that behind your easily accommodating, eager to please persona, you were just as sad and lost as everyone else.
Not that he was going to say it out loud. He never meant to read people’s minds all the time, but it was hard to control.
“Well hmm…” you started, fidgeting with the ties of your apron as you avoided his gaze.
In your head, insecurity gnawed at you. Despite your growing crush on Shin, you would’ve actually preferred he kept his distance like he always did. And Shin tried not to be bothered by this thought – tried.
“I didn’t actually plan on being a part-time worker. I wanted to be an artist, actually. To illustrate children’s books.”
Shin knew this, too. Whenever your morning shifts ended, you picked Hana up from school. You two would spend a lot of time upstairs drawing and doodling. Hana’s compliments at your skills always left you feeling warm. So much so that when you walked downstairs and said goodbye to him, Shin could feel that giddiness in your heart. Could see it in the way your eyes lit up, how your smile turned just a bit more shy and a little less forced. Your customer service smile, he called it. He preferred that genuine smile of yours more.
“You’d be a great one,” he found himself saying, leaning against the closed freezer as he looked at you. “I’ve seen your drawings. Hana puts them up in her room, and Ms. Aoi has some taped on their kitchen too.”
You bit your lip and avoided his gaze. He could see the images flickering in your mind. Nights spent staying up to submit the art projects, hanging out late into the night drinking with friends, how you loved being pushed up against a wall as your ex-boyfriend kissed you.
Now those images, Shin could do without.
Really, he didn’t know when it began – when he started noticing the little things you weren’t aware of. The constant stain of ink or graphite on your hands, the smears of charcoal on your favorite white university shirt. (He Googled it once, unsurprised that it was a fancy art school.) He thought maybe that was how you were so quick with your hands. The fastest and most efficient cashier. He’d told Sakamoto-san about you, and it wasn’t difficult to have a pay raise encouraged and arranged. He still remembered that day your eyes glistened with tears at the generous pay. He’d hoped you’d get yourself something nice, maybe a new set of pencils, but instead, you went with another day of skipping breakfast to keep up with your mom’s medical bills.
“That’s surprisingly sweet,” you smiled shyly, “Ms. Aoi and Hana really are such kind people, aren’t they?”
“They are.” Sakamoto and his family accepted him without a second thought, welcomed him into their home and gave him a seat at their table like it was the most normal thing in the world. They did the same thing to you – constantly offering to have you for dinner, but you never stayed too late. You headed straight to the hospital each time.
Unsure of what else to say, Shin picked up four Twix bars and scanned it silently. When he placed it down in front of you, you raised a brow up at him. “Twix bars,” he nudged them your way, suddenly feeling overly self-conscious the longer you looked at him. “Aren’t they your favorite?”
Your lips twitched into a smile. “They are, but how’d you know?”
I can read your mind, and you used to always eat them whenever you were sad. “A gut feeling,” he shrugged. “I thought they might, I don’t know, help you feel better.”
“They do,” you finally opened one, the other offered to him, “But why four? Is it so much better than just, say, two bars?”
“Yeah.” Once, when you were both cleaning up the shop, he heard your faint stream of thoughts. Four twix bars are always enough to get me by. If only I could have the luxury of snacks right now. But alas, the only snack I can have is my absurdly cute co-worker.
If possible, Shin’s entire body flushed red. “I have a gut feeling it is,” he said again, and finally turned his back to you.
The sound of your laughter was the last sound he heard before he retreated into the supply room, where he shamelessly smiled to himself in the dark.
After that one time Shin gave you four Twix bars, the invisible wall of casual politeness slowly turned into something more.
You began to linger at the register after your shift, making conversation with him and asking about his life and what he liked to do in his free time. He couldn’t tell the truth, of course. So he went with the safest answer that he sometimes liked to play paintball with Heisuke (and absolutely not so he can learn to dodge his friend’s impeccably precise rebound shooting skills.)
Tonight, you were bent over organizing canned food, and the silence lingering in the shop no longer felt tense and awkward. He simply reveled in the sound of your soft humming, and the steady whir of the air condition.
Beside you, Shin was meticulously arranging the bags of chips, rotating each one to face a perfectly uniform direction. You suppressed a giggle, but it was too late. His gaze flicked up to you, a question in his eyes at your unabashed grin. “What?”
“You know,” you bit your lip, your voice low and teasing. “I always wondered what a highly-trained, former special-ops type of person would do to keep their hands busy in retirement. I have noticed that for such a soft looking face, you have some pretty rough hands.”
Shin felt his heart drop, a bag of sour cream and onion chips suspended in mid-air.
She knows? Holy shit, but it can’t be. I’d been so careful. How could she know? Who told her? Did she see me or Sakamoto-san? Did Lu babble when she was drunk again? But that’s impossible, I don’t even do that kind of thing anymore – well not much, and I’ve stopped killing people. That’s the number one rule in the Sakamoto Family Rulebook.
You laughed – the sound soft and warm. “Oh my God, I’m just kidding! You should’ve seen the look on your face! But you have to admit, that’s some serious attention to detail,” leaning in, you bumped your shoulder playfully into his. “That’s some hitman-level precision, huh? Making sure no one steals the cheddar puffs? I know you hide them in the back aisle so you’ll never run out for yourself.”
Shin was baffled. “What? I – how’d you even know that?” He did, in fact, hid the cheddar puffs in a place no one would notice.
“You’re not the only one who spends their time watching people, you know.”
His ears, a part of him that he had no control over, turned red. He cleared his throat and mumbled something about ‘standard operating procedures’ before he turned to you again. “And where did you even hear that from? Hitman level precision? Former special ops? You’ve been watching way too many action movies with Nagumo.”
You threw your head back in laughter. “His blockbuster films are kinda nice,” you defended, “And I heard them from Heisuke. He joked once how he had the coolest friends – retired assassins and legendary hitmen. Said you didn’t look the part, but that you had crazy precision in shooting.”
Shin froze. “In paintball, yeah.”
“Well, duh,” you snorted, returning to the task at hand and stealing the bag of chip from him, putting it to where it belonged. “You’re strangely competitive over paintball. Give Heisuke some break, will you?”
Oh, he’ll get a break, alright, Shin gritted his teeth, cursing his friend whose mouth was too loose.
Unbeknownst to him, you watched him struggle with a soft smile on your face. Stepping back, you chuckled to yourself at the sight of Shin’s dilemma. The truth was, you found his flustered awkwardness incredibly endearing. He was thoughtful and observant, but painfully unaware of his own selflessness.
He had no idea you’d gone from seeing him as just a quiet coworker, who you occasionally shared a laugh with, to a guy you’d seriously been considering to date.
Just as Shin’s alarmed gaze suddenly snapped to you, the bell above the door chimed. Mr. Sakamoto stepped out, his face neutrally cool. “Still here, you two? It’s past closing time,” he shared a knowing look with Shin, who started glaring at the floor. Then, Mr. Sakamoto’s face changed just the slightest, with a hint of a smile. “Aoi made an extra big batch of dinner tonight. It would be lovely if you could both join.”
Shin braced himself for the disappointment. It’d been months now since you started working here, and you always politely declined. Though maybe he wouldn’t mind your absence tonight that much. His mind was still reeling from the fact that he’d heard your thoughts loud and clear – I wonder what it’s like to go on a date with Shin.
Date. A date. With him.
Mr. Sakamoto was right. There was no point in pretending to be immune to sweet smiles and kind eyes. Even he, the legendary hitman, had gladly fallen in love. It wouldn’t be wrong if Shin just gave in. Don’t fight it, he heard Mr. Sakamoto think, if you fall, you fall.
Taking off his apron, Shin stretched his arm out, waiting for you to hand yours back. This time, you surprised him by enveloping your hands with his. “I’d love to go to dinner.”
Oh, your mind gushed, his hand is so much warmer than I thought it’d be. I could get used to this.
Mr. Sakamato’s face remained impassive, but his snickering thoughts couldn’t be any louder.
Deep down, Shin had a gut feeling that it would all work out just right.
The walk from the store to the train station was just a handful of blocks, but it felt like the longest, most important journey of Shin’s life. He walked beside you, and couldn’t help but feel like the small space between your bodies kept getting smaller and smaller. Was it you inching closer to him, or was it his hands itching to reach out to yours?
Whatever it was, he was thankful you couldn’t read his mind. On the outside, he kept a cool, composed appearance. But on the inside? Hell, his palms were practically sweating. He couldn’t hold your now. But he could step a little bit closer, making up an excuse that it was just cold tonight. Keep it cool, he told himself, no need to let her know you’re a total virgin when it comes to dating.
And because the heavens found pity on him, you didn’t seem to notice the man practically fumbling.
The conversation was easy, nothing but soft murmurs in the night air. You could be talking about the most mundane of things - like a funny customer from this afternoon - and he’d still be listening with both ears, and his mind. In your head, you broadcasted that warm, giddy feeling of sitting next to him in dinner. How easy it felt to sit cross-legged next to him and share warm meals like it happened on the daily. How comfortable it was to be in the same space as him. How right it felt.
And you’d been beyond elated over the Sakamato’s warm welcome. It made you feel a little guilty for having turned them down before. If you’d known how much you’d enjoy it, you might have joined them from the start. (Shin wished you did.)
“You know, Sakamoto-san asked me what my plans were,” you said, your voice softening. Shin’s guard immediately went up, already anticipating the worst of disappointments. What were you going to say? Are you going to quit now? Did you think I’m a sloppy eater and no longer want to go out with me? Not that I asked you out, but I was planning to. He promised he was planning to. He didn’t drink liquid courage for nothing.
Instead, you shared what he already knew. How you quit school to take care of your mother, something you never mentioned before. Just like that, he felt a wave of both worry, exhaustion, and relief flood over your mind all at once.
“She’s finally okay,” you croaked out, and the mental image of your mother’s warm hands squeezing yours was so vivid, he swore he was also there. “I think I can finally go back. I’ve saved up enough, and… if it weren’t for you, Hana, and Ms. Aoi, I would have given up on school altogether.”
Shin was at a loss of what to say.
He knew he should be happy. Should be overjoyed, really, that things were finally working out for you. But as the station’s concrete structure came into view, his panic began to set in. This… romantic saga you had was coming to an end. The simple joy of just walking beside you, checking inventory with you, working at the register with you, was about to be interrupted.
He didn’t even have a chance yet to tell you what he felt. Or did you even want him to? You never voiced it out. You suddenly holding his hand could be a friendly gesture, for all he knew.
Stopping at the entrance, Shin was brought back to reality by the harsh fluorescent lights.
The two of you stood there for a moment – the convenience store and this too good to be true night behind you – the rush of the train station ahead.
You looked up at him, a sweet, hopeful expression on your face. Should I say thank you? Should I hug him? Maybe that’s too much. It isn’t, he swore it. Hug me, he nearly begged. Don’t go. What if I just… Before you could finish that thought, your hand came up to his arm, leaning until you were close enough to hear his erratic pulse. Your lips, soft and warm, touched his cheek.
Shin’s mind went blank. So quiet that he jumped at the squeals coming through your own.
Oh shit, I did it! But he’s so quiet now… Oh no, did I freak him out? Was I too forward? Fuck, well at least this might be my last day and I’ll never have to see him–
As if he’d let that happen.
Just as your panic bubbled up, he recalled a memory he’d shamelessly experienced vicariously through you. From dinner. From that time you spaced out at work while Shin sucked on a lollipop, and your eyes couldn’t take itself away from the sight. From when he threw his head back in laughter, and your throat felt dry at his throat muscles working. He felt your mind drift then. Those times, you weren’t thinking of past partners. Just him. And the idea of a perfect, toe-curling kiss.
You’d basically taught him how to sweep you off your feet. You just didn’t know it yet.
Shin took a deep breath.
For the first time in his life, he wasn’t acting on a hit order or a panicked reflex. He acted purely on feeling (and of constantly re-watching your daydreams where he kissed you.)
He reached out, his hands trembling slightly, and cupped the soft skin of your jaw. His thumbs gently tracing the line of your cheekbone. Your eyes widened, and in your mind, he heard a surprised gasp of pleasure, the small sound enough to make his pants feel uncomfortably tight.
Taking a step forward, he pressed you back against the station’s cold, stone pillars. A train roared by, its powerful gust of wind making his hair brush back against his face. Just do it. Just do it. Shin leaned down and kissed you, his lips soft and pillowy against yours. And, oh.
He’s a damn good kisser.
Of course he was, he thought smugly. He kissed you the way he knew you liked. You liked it when a guy cupped your jaw. You reveled in the feeling of being gently pinned against something, so utterly helpless that you couldn’t help but be cocooned in someone’s strong, warm arms. It was the kind of thought a hitman like him would never have. A kind of trust Shin would never experience had it not been for the people who saved him.
His mind, so used to being a weapon, had given him a gift. A map that led him straight to your heart.
Your body melted into his, a surrender so complete he was unsure he deserved. He heard your thoughts of joy and unabashed adoration, thankful that the train was so loud you couldn’t hear how his own heart raced.
All he knew was that he’d found a quiet life – it was just a little loud on the outside.
But the roaring of his heart faded, and the thoughts flooded back in, all of them beautiful and pure. Too pure. His quiet life had just come face to face with the messiness of his past. The two could never co-exist. Not when this tender kiss felt like a betrayal, that your feelings were built on the lies of his hidden identity.
Shin pulled away, the movement startling you. “Shin,” you noted his widened eyes, his ragged breath. “What’s wrong? Did I do something?”
“I-I have to tell you something,” he blurted out. He could do it – hopefully it was just like ripping off a band-aid. “I’m… I’m not who you think I am. And neither is Sakamoto-san, or Lu, or Heisuke–”
“Shin, breathe.”
He did as he was told, loosening his hold out of fear he might crush you. The words just tumbled out, fast and clumsy. “We used to be… It’s all in the past, but we were hitmen. We’re both retired, I swear, it’s just… Sometimes things happen, and we need to protect our family, so we may or may not get involved in something ugly again. And I-I can read minds. It’s how I knew you liked to eat Twix bars when you’re sad, and how I knew you liked to be kissed. And you know, I-I, I can accept if this is too much to handle. If you’d want to walk away…”
Shin bent his head down in shame, realizing that for the first time, he’d been so absorbed in his own thoughts that he couldn’t hear yours. “I haven’t been part of that world in a long time. And I would never hurt anyone. I just… I had to tell you, I’m sorry. I swear I never meant to keep lying to you.”
He braced himself for the worst. For the shock, the disgust, the fear. He wouldn’t be a stranger to it. He’d already prepared himself to see your mind fill with terror, with betrayal, and watch you walk away. Instead, a soft laugh escaped you. Moving closer, you cupped his face in your hands, and kissed him again.
This time, your mind was as calm as it was still lightly fluttering. No panic, no fear, no thoughts of wanting to leave. When you pulled back, a mischievous glint in your eyes, you were met with Shin’s shocked, confused face.
“Shin,” you said, your voice barely a whisper. “I know.”
His mind went completely blank, the mental static deafening. “You… you know?” he stammered, his voice barely a whisper. “How?”
The words were playful, but they didn’t match the sudden, vivid memory that replayed in his head. A drunken Lu, on the night of the store’s anniversary party, slurring at a corner. “You’d never know it when we party together like this, but we used to be involved in some shady stuff, you know? The boss, Shin, me… we’re a family. Just one you don’t want to mess with.”
You gave him a knowing smile, your shoulder lifted in a one-shouldered shrug. “Just a gut feeling.”
And then, another flash: of Heisuke, with Piisuke chirping on top of his head. You’d given him popsicles to battle the midday heat. “You really are the best,” he’d gushed, “I gotta say, it really isn’t that bad to have another civilian around. We can do with more normalcy.”
You’d laugh it off, confused about what he meant. But the seed had been planted, and looking back at it now, not even Sakamoto-san had been discreet. His scarily accurate aim with his ballpoint pens. His ‘hidden’ button for his ‘hidden’ stash of guns that just screamed suspicious. It made Shin feel a new kind of fluster, one deeper than just shyness.
“You knew all this time?”
“It doesn’t matter,” you reassured him, the humor in your thoughts ringing true to your words. “I mean, I was freaked out at first, but I’ve spent enough time with all of you to believe you all mean well. Besides, I’m here now, and so are you. All that matters is that you’re a good person, Shin.”
Heat crept up Shin’s neck. “But the mind reading thing, did you know about it, too?”
“That one was a surprise,” you confessed, wrapping your arms around his neck to pull him closer. “But I really don’t mind. You can go ahead and read my mind right now. See what you wanna do about it.”
Shin was greeted by a mental image of him (not so gently) pushing you against the pillar again, your lips crushed together, chests pressed into one another. He saw a flash of tongues colliding – aaaaand he was flustered again. Groaning, he closed his eyes, his forehead resting against yours. “Now you’re just teasing me.”
If you told Shin a few months ago that the convenience store’s ding wouldn’t be his favorite sound in the world anymore, he would have laughed in your face. Nothing could top that sweet, calming sound that reminded him he knew peace now.
Not unless it was your melodious laugh that made warmth spread all over his chest.

“Hmm.”
With images / videos and Tsukasa as my assistant, because I've been asked this MANY times, but I have no idea how to explain it and keep it short.
While Tumblr has preset colors that you can use on both the website and mobile, sometimes you want to use other colors or make it more colorful, and this is how I did it (before I learned HTML).
As far as I know, this can only be done on the Tumblr website. However, my mobile Tumblr app is VERY outdated, so correct me if I'm wrong.
For those unfamiliar with HTML, I recommend coloring your text before adding anything else (images, videos, links, etc.), as it can look like an absolute trainwreck for those who have no idea what they're doing. If you know how HTML works, cool! Just follow the first step to switch to HTML, then go wild.
Things You Probably Want:
Tumblr
This site (You could also use this site, but you're on your own with this one)
Color hex(es) (If you don't know what you want, both sites I provided have a built-in color picker for you to mess with)
Step 1: Switching to HTML
When making a post, click the settings icon in the top right. Find Text Editor and switch to HTML.
Step 2: Colorizing the text
The site I provided should look something like this:
Now mess around! Horizontal gradient should give you something like this, middle gradient, three color gradient, solid color seems self-explanatory, random colors randomizes the colors of your text (you can randomize word by word or letter by letter), and the gay option.
Ignore everything under "Additional text settings", as Tumblr only allows you to use the default font / preset sizes and restricts the code for bold and italics.
Go crazy, but not too crazy. Each block of your Tumblr post has a 4096-character limit, and the code for your HTML counts towards that.
Step 3: Slapping The Text On Tumblr
So now you have everything set up. Copy everything in "HTML code for this text", NOT the BBcode. That's for something else.
Now paste it into Tumblr. It'll look like a semi-organized mess, but just switch to preview and boom (Ignore the red underline, it's Grammarly being annoying)
Congratulations! Your text has been custom colored. You can continue to edit your text from here without having to bounce between HTML and Rich text
But I don't want to do this every time!
If you make incorrect quotes like me, coloring the text every time like this would, indeed, be very annoying. If you have already used the same format in another post, there are two ways you could do this:
1. Copy and paste the rich text.
This is how I usually do it. If you do it this way, make sure you paste with Ctrl + V / Right Click + Paste, NOT Ctrl + Shift + V / Right Click + Paste as plain text. The first keeps the formatting, the second does not.
2. Copy and paste the HTML.
Note that you MUST be able to edit the post to do both methods. You cannot directly copy the colors from others' posts without using the web developer tools, but you're not here for that.
This is probably way longer than it needs to be but I suck at explaining things briefly oops
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask :)
The Tsukasa cursor I use is official. You can download it here. They have the other unit leaders and all six Mikus.
