Jinshi must be useless at self-care as well as the care of others. Maomao is great at taking care of others but has general shit bed-side manner. She would not be experimenting on her patients. That is for herself and only herself.

The entire concept of an Apothecary Diaries whump fic where Maomao is sick is hilarious on both sides. On one hand, you'd have Jinshi, who had probably never taken care of anyone, fret but be absolutely useless. And then Maomao would be upset that her attempts of self experimentation are constantly being interrupted and thwarted.

The Mentalist "Fugue in Red" should have absolutely been a 2 parter but not in the murder case sense. I mean they could have done it that way but it wouldn't have mattered because boy howdy there absolutely NEEDED to have been some kind of emotional resolution.

Honestly with Jane's memory being brought back in such an abrupt and traumatic manner, I had expected him to lash out or shut down and they end up separating after a messy argument.

Lisbon has to do an introspection of what exactly her motivations and whatever while Jane begins to consider his life before and after and everything else.

There was never an episode where Jane and Lisbon were separated by conflicts that didn't involve Red John and this would have been the perfect time to show case them separating because of contrasts of their personalities coming out in the ugliest ways one as a result of one of the most heartbreaking and brutal situations.

I have no idea where to dump my Mentalist whump prompts but here we are:

Jane who definitely has a penchant for abandoning people leaves Lisbon to chase a lead but it's weirdly cold and/or rainy and ends up being caught outside for an extended period of time.

Of course she yells at him when she returns soaking and he deflects with humour and that is that.

Until she comes in showing the first symptoms of illness.

idk if this is a trope or whatever but i love it so much when fictional characters massively downplay the severity of their injuries but in more of a comedic way than a tragic one. like some guy gets impaled and they just glance down at the shard of metal sticking out of them and say some dumb bullshit like "oh man. that's gonna need some ice." and then pass out while all their friends yell at them for being an unfunny idiot with terrible priorities.
