Thoughts about the Percy Jackson season 3 announcements at SDCC yesterday:
Official release date has been confirmed to be 20/11/2026. They are trying to kill us by having this release the same day as sotr, right??? Right?????!!!
Annabeth will play a bigger part in this season than she did in the book: GOOD! I’m very glad about that. I love Annabeth’s character and I hate that we don’t get to see her as much in the third book. I also love that this will give us more insight into what’s happening with her as we only know what Percy saw in his dreams. This also means that we will see Luke trick Annabeth to take over the weight of the sky. Which will be… painfull. For all of us
Season 3 starts with Thalia no longer at Camp but hunting for Luke instead: this makes more sense to me than her just being at Camp, especially considering the change they made to her story last season. According to those who were there and who saw the first three minutes, there is already some fantastic beef between her and Percy during this scene, which is great to set the scene considering we won’t get Percy’s inner monologue.
The age rating for season 3 has been upped from 12 (for seasons 1 and 2) to 16. I am VERY happy about that. Titan’s Curse is when shit starts to hit the fan in the pjo books so it makes perfect sense to up the age rating for this season. This also means that it’s more likely that we’ll get the full scene (like everything) of both Zoe and Bianca’s deaths.
Promotional clip of Percy holding up the sky: it does not look at all how I expected it, I kinda like the idea of the sky to be held together by a titan holding what looks like a giant cereal bowl. Considering the rest of the setting in this clip was just blank and also Percy literally looked right into the camera, I seriously doubt this was an actual clip from the episode and just serves as a promotional clip. The actual scene may still have Percy falling to his knees, nearly crumbling under the weight of the sky. *sigh* is it weird that I’m excited to see this scene knowing how much his character is suffering?
Hercules has already been cast (but the actor has not been revealed yet): HOLY SHIT! This means we’ll get a flashback of Zoe with Hercules as she helps him steal an apple from the garden of the Hesperides! Which is actually insane, I hadn’t thought about this at all but it makes total sense to do a flashback for this instead of just Zoe telling the story (as she does in the book)
The majority of the cast considers “the junkyard of the gods” to be the episode that will have most of us dropping our jaw. I am not surprised about this at all. Especially with the age rating having gone up.
Rachel will (most likely) not be in season 3: though I find this disappointing as Rachel is one of my favourite characters, this actually makes total sense. There are (as far as we’re aware) no plans for a fourth season yet and Rachel is most important in book 4 and 5. Casting an actress now would be risky since again, she’ll need to be availlable for a fourth season. But also Walker and Aryan were kinda vague about this so maybe she’ll be there after all? It might be a good thing that they’re keeping us in the dark about this, I fear I will go berserk when they announce Rachel will be in the show
Thalia and Percy’s “generational beef”. YES!! I trust Tamara and Walker fully with this, have you guys seen how they act together?? It’ll be fantastic, I just know it!
