Tbh, It's baffling to me how underrated the Frank and Percy friendship is. Frank was the first person willing to vouch for Percy(even before Hazel) when Percy first came to CJ.

Percy and Frank adore each other. They both think the other person is awesome due to their powers and skills. Frank feels secure with Percy so much so that he opens up about his mother's death(a topic that isn't easy for him to discuss).

Even the goddamn pjo wiki lists them as family and states that they 'have a very brotherly relationship'. Yet despite all of this Rick(yet again) rarely writes about their bond in the later books(aside from Son of Neptune). Plus the fandom often forgets about them.

As an older queer, allow me to say: the walls of the closet are load-bearing. It is our job as a community to stand in front of that door and tell everyone who wants to peek inside to fuck off.

There are so many reasons a person may choose not to come out and there is no reason a person would owe the public or a stranger that information. Certainly it's not owed simply because someone is famous.

We have fought for decades to make it safer for people to be open and authentic about themselves, but we are not yet there. And even if we were, the closet would still be something we need to maintain for those who are not ready to reveal that part of themselves.

percy invites annabeth to sally/paul's wedding and she gets so excited to go and she spends hours (with silena) doing her hair and make up and trying out all these clothes to figure out what to wear and she's soooooo excited to go to this wedding

percy sitting thru the long ass reception until his body feels like a thousand knives are stabbing him all over and he just needs to move and he's a little upset because annabeth never showed up but it's fine it's not like she had to attend...percy walks out only to find annabeth sitting outside on the curb covered in blood and dirt and monster dust and her dress is torn and her hair is a mess and her make up is ruined because she fought tooth and nail to attend this wedding only to be attacked left and right by monsters and ruining all her hard work and she couldn't bring herself to walk in looking a mess and she's still crying-
