if Broadway doesn’t want bootlegs floating around then they need to get their act together and make legal recordings. you can say all you want that theater is meant to be enjoyed live, but the fact of the matter is not everybody can get to NYC to go to a Broadway show. not everybody can afford to take the time off of work and buy a plane ticket to NYC and buy a night in a hotel AND get the ticket to the show. people want to see the shows, that’s why there’s a bootleg market in the first place, but it’s unreasonable to expect that everyone has the time, money, and ability to make it out to the one place in the world to see something on Broadway, especially if it’s a limited engagement. so record that shit, slap some subtitles on it, and sell it so we can buy it legally.

yeah, buy all the DVD’s you want. still a waste of money compared to what you could be experiencing live.

Yeah, I’m from AUSTRALIA and I have to say that it’s not very likely that I will be able to afford to get my poverty riddled ass to New York or London to see these shows.

And sure, theatre is great… But concerts are great and I don’t stop listening to music at home, movies are better in the theatre but I don’t stop watching them at home?

A waste of money would be the many, many thousands of dollars it would take for me to get to New York, stay, see and leave.

Just a though from somebody who can’t enjoy crowded live events at the moment due to anxiety: SOME PEOPLE CANNOT SIT IN A THEATRE AND WATCH THAT SHOW EVEN IF THEY COULD AFFORD IT! If your objection to somebody wanting accomodation is “Oh but it’s better live!” you need to sit down. If we could all go do things the way they’re enjoyed best we would. But there’s a multitude of reasons we can’t and most of them are beyond our control.
