As an autistic/adhd person going through the job search process I’ve learned to phrase my autistic/adhd traits as corporate friendly things. Here’s some examples:

I have trouble reading between the lines and picking up on implicit information? Actually, I’ve learned the importance of giving and receiving precise, specific instructions in order to avoid time consuming miscommunications.

I’m easily bored with only one task? Actually, I have a curious mind and thrive in places with a wide range of tasks as I prefer dynamic environments where I can contribute to many projects.

I have trouble with white lies that are merely social niceties? Actually, I prioritize a transparent work environment where we can tackle issues head-on.

This way I don’t have to lie, but rather just spin my truth in a way that’s palatable to them.

You once made a promise to yourself: if you ever met a time traveler, it wouldn't be a big deal. You’d tell them the date, the most important political conflict, a recent technology, and send them on their way. You now encounter a time traveler nearly every week.

At first, it was no big deal. Met a time traveler once, happened to be reading the news, and relayed the appropriate information. Then it happened again. And again. All things considered, I should’ve realized something was happening.

But no, obviously this couldn’t be some sort of repeating occurrence, right? Well, not quite.

Every week. Once a week. The same girl. The same questions, the same lost look on her face. Of course, I don’t think she remembers me. Otherwise… why not approach anybody else? I guess I have a trustworthy face!

It took me a while. To piece together what she’s doing, I mean. She’d ask me about a recent event, I’d say something to the effect of: “Oh, The ___ recently did ___.” And off she goes! All of a sudden, things get worse. Higher taxes, more aggravated politicians, higher tensions… So it wasn’t exactly a favorable position for my traveler.

I started seeing her in my dreams. I’d see her bright blonde hair out of the corner of my eye, and by the time I turned? Long gone.

Then came the usual meeting. She approaches, and asks me the same questions as always. As she turned to leave, I placed three shots to her back. Two to the heart, one to the head.

Irresponsible use of time travel is a crime only punishable by death. If you imprison them, they break themselves out. They make plans, so on and so forth… God, I’d hate to have a desk job.
