Fandoms have a serious problem with how creators are being treated these days.

Fandom creators spend hours of their free time to create something to make fandom thrive...for free and for the love of the game.

And what do they get? A wholeass heap of fuck all. No reblogs, no comments, no nothing. And people are surprised that creators are dropping out left, right, and centre??

"Why is there no long fic anymore?" "Why did my favourite writer stop?" "Why is my favourite artist not posting anymore?"

I implore you to ask yourself: "What's the last thing I did to support my fandom? Does my favourite creator know they are my favourite? When was the last time I left a comment under something?"

It's like Ruben wanted Niall to be calm and at peace when he gives him his final gift.

Can you imagine?

The barn is quiet, they can only hear each other's breathing. The air is filled with acceptance, quiet tears slowly running down Niall's face while they look into each other's eyes. Ruben's eyes are tender and soft, his fingers are caressing Niall's hair, his other hand tight on Niall's mouth and nose making it impossible for Niall to breath.

But everything is alright because finally they are together, closer than ever before and at peace with all that has happened between them.

They are writing the last few pages of their story, no need for more violence and lies.

The only thing that remains is letting go. Ruben already accepted what the future in a few minutes is going to bring and while gazing into Ruben's eyes Niall realises that Ruben is right. They have to lose each other forever because that is the only way where they won't destroy the other and everyone else they love.

Niall's heartbeat starts to slow, his sight starts to blur. He raises his hand weakly to reach for the single tear on Ruben's face. Ruben's small smile is sad and tender at the same time, Niall can see how his lips move but the words evade him. He is too far gone.

But it is alright.

Because in his last moments this monster he always loved, and loved to poke, showed him what is hidden behind the hard surface.

Ruben can see the exact moment when the light leaves those gorgeus eyes. Can feel how the heart beneath his is valiantly trying to beat a few more times but ultimately gives up and goes motionless forever. Every warmth leaves his body like he is the one who just died and not Niall. He grows numb and the air leaves his lungs in painful bursts, saliva drips from his open lips.

His other half is gone and he gave him the most peaceful way to go.

They needed to lose each other forever to be able to live but without Niall he is unable to exist. So he does the one remaining thing that he has to do in this life.

He puts an end to it right there, next to Niall, to follow and find him in the next.
