Guillermo del Toro has done such a beautiful, heart-wretching and terrifying adaptation of Frankenstein that I can't believe it's real. The way he captured the painful dynamic of abusive parent-child relationships is so full of heart. The anger, the desperation, the solitude, the endless 'whys', the never ending cycle of trying to find meaning in the other. The pain that's born from the desire to be loved by the one you loved instinctively and unconditionally.
