Kinda need to rant a bit…

As someone who is aromantic asexual, and sex-repulsed and a weird combo between hating looking at romance irl and liking it a fair amount in media, there’s lots of things i do that are pretty allonormative, like calling (character) my wife

At some point a very good friend of mine called me “(that character) kisser” jokingly, and while I’m not mad at her by any means (it was an honest mistake on their end) it still felt… wrong.

Please know when I say a character or anyone else i really like in media “my wife/husband/partner” what I mean is I want to see them happy. I want to bake them some bread and watch movies with them and give them snacks and make arts and crafts with them, nothing romantic or sexual in any way at all

Please, please, PLEASE understand that in an allonormative society, aromantic and asexual people use language that may be considered that way. If you know, please at least ask if your friends, coworkers, or family members if they’re comfortable with such jokes.
