What me and jay saw on my hinge yesterday
reblogging a funny low note count textpost on your dash made by your mutual's mutual kinda feels like walking up to two strangers on the street and laughing loudly at their joke
It’s kinda like this
as a crude and uncultured anglo the french use of like "literary conjugations" etc is kind of baffling. it feels like the sort of thing that could only be viable among like, courtiers. i guess they must learn them in school? i guess we have like "literary words" but i mean. not REALLY
a major difference between yuri and bl works is that “non/dub-con between the main couple” is way less of a thing in the former
This is because straight women are overly sexual and pornbrained but straight men are blushing flowers and naturally inclined towards romance
decay choker, atelier pierrot, 2021
can i have this?
edit: holy fuck this choker is *literally* over FIVE THOUSAND dollars??? like i have a sewing machine. get the fuck out of here. im mad now
This choker is worth 30 times more than the United States
The "Columbian Exchange" line of fantasy criticism catching on so much is evidence that most people do not actually think about fiction very well. Tolkien can get tweaked for it because he was explicitly writing a pre-history of Europe, but no, it is not in fact a universal narrative law that, in a fantasy world with multiple continents, potatoes, tomatoes, and maize will always be native to one continent and apples, brassica cultivars, and wheat will be native to another, why the hell would it be.
Of course, you could say that about other cultures-bought-in-bulk fantasy stereotypes. No reason that Thrygvar Wulthenstaal can't be a bearded, turban-wearing man from an agrarian culture who mastered the macuahuitl to drive away the leopards and jackals that threaten his freshwater fish farm. But readers and writers alike don't seem to want that.
I have seen a young lady with her table loaded with volumes loaded of fictitious trash, poring day after day and night after night over highly wrought scenes and skillfully portrayed pictures of romance, until her cheeks grew pale, her eyes became wild and reckless, and her mind wandered and was lost — the light of intelligence passed behind a cloud, and her soul was forever benighted. She was insane, incurably insane from reading novels.

very bizarre when you see a post about misogyny and there's people in the notes going "yeah and it's even worse when it happens to trans men/afab nonbinaries/etc" like do you think women find being treated as lesser human beings gender affirming
I feel like advertising is probably the funniest place anyone can choose to predicate their moral arguments against AI on the basis of environmental impact because like. The advertising industry is already probably the most wasteful i dustry in terms of environmental costs vs. actual value it provides, to the point that adding AI to it amounts to a very small drop in the world's biggest bucket. Like.
"Using AI to design flyers looks cheap and tacky" 👍 I completely agree.
"Using AI to design flyers is bad for the environment" I can tell you with 100% absolute certainty that the environmental impact of printing hundreds of paper flyers which will be looked at exactly once and then thrown in the garbage is like. Several orders of magnitude bigger than the environmental impact of generating the picture that will go on said flyers.
Like I find it hard to think of a position that more succinctly communicates "I never think about where anything comes from or how it's produced or how it's disposed of or the environmental costs of any steps in that process unless there's some sort of moral panic telling me to be concerned about it" than thinking that the "AI" part of "ads made with AI" is the part that's bad for the environment.
I feel like people are always doing some form of "we compared the westborough baptist church with sufism and what we found is that islam is much more progressive than christianity." like i think it depends. it depends though. like it depends.
Indigenous peoples of the great plains should've never told white people about tornadoes. "I don't know man that shit never happened before you showed up"
very prescriptivist joke you made there. i can see how you thought it was funny by ignoring the interiority of indigenous peoples and reinterpreting their choices as absurd under the lens of your own imperialist doctrines
i'm just fucking with you that would have been funny as hell
science enthusiasts LOOVE making media where a humble academic is abducted by the authorities and forced to go on a cool alien adventure against their will. it's like cnc for them
I give it like 6 months until the steampunk jokes stop being ironic
You'll realize just how marvelous a contraption can be
the paris catacombs are 1000x more fucked up than i imagined
did you know the cops once found a fully functioning movie theater with a well-stocked bar inside the catacombs and they when they tried to go back later to formally investigate it was completely emptied out save for a note that read "don't search for us"
Underground french cinema
my little bro is part of the catacombs community and yeah, it's basically a fully autonomous society! enough that when my bro goes in on a friday night, they don't come out until monday for work- sometimes longer if they took days off.
some of the rooms have fully stocked pantries with cooking equipment, some have movies like the one described above, some have books you're allowed to just take but people always put back- every day people bring things from the outside. artists often set up galleries there. there are rooms with mattresses and hammocks set up for people to sleep. one of the room is just a place where people leave shoes for the fun of it.
this is Known, it's not a secret by any means. the catacombs are as big as paris itself, and people live there just as people live above. it's wonderful when you think about it.
A little update! My little bro is now my little sister. Please don't misgender her :)
annoying bloggers are having another Gossip Season it seems and its mad stupid and evil but this is making me laugh so hard im gonna throw up. fuuuuuuuck #staysafe
