it’s amazing how women are able to navigate crowded rooms without ever touching a palm to a man’s lower back
every so often i remember how awesome the modern interconnected multicultural world is. i grew up getting to hear fairy tales from all over the world. africa, asia, europe, america. everywhere in between. i can have bagels for breakfast, curry for lunch, and ramen for dinner without even leaving the city limits. music and art and philosophy and technology that originated thousands of miles and years apart from eachother have come together and interwoven into something greater than the sum of its parts. its hard not fall into despair when thinking about the horrors but god. god the wonders.
whenever there's a popular art/writing post on here there's inevitably a few comments that say something like "ai could never!" and i need everyone to 1.) stop bringing up unrelated bullshit you hate all the time 2.) learn how to actually compliment stuff you like 3.) stop commenting that shit it's ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!
The ancient Greeks were much more honest about violence against women - and gave them more of a voice - than Christopher Nolan tbh
Like seriously, there are multiple surviving Greek plays about the tragic fates of Trojan women enslaved after the war - give us just two minutes of that instead of an entirely bloodless sack of Troy if you want us to feel the actual weight of war beyond an action scene with sad music

I think 2026 audiences are too thin-skinned for this
Idk, you briefly see skin burning off in Oppenheimer, this is not beyond the skill of a talented director to pull off. You don't even need rape or much gore, just a son weeping over his dead mother, some survivors getting enslaved. A few brief moments to make the victims human in a way that the actual movie mostly fails to do. (The Athena thing is interesting, but insufficient.)
People get really philosophically incensed about it but I honestly really don't mind "consuming content/media" that much as a phrase... There's really no handy way to refer to "watching a movie and/or watching a show and/or reading a book and/or playing a video game" etc etc etc. all at once and every alternative I've seen people suggest has been corny as hell. I certainly won't call it "experiencing art".
If I was wealthy I’d get weird surgery recreationally and spend five grand on six academic texts per week and have a fancy office that’s only for sucking dick and smoking and wear fabrics made of evil and I’d have two personal trainers that I double book so they have to compete for my attention and I’d smell obscure and irresistible and I’d have machine guns and a sculptor that I fund who lives in the woods and is not allowed to leave but gets whatever they want brought to them because the art is just that important and I’m not allowed to see it until it’s done and also theyre dying
james baldwin was so right when he said “the children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.”
Nothing in the rule book says a dog can't play basketball. There are a couple rules against trans women, however, so she'll have to leave.
if christopher nolan was really the visionary and ground-breaking director everyone claims he is he would have cast ben affleck as penelope
straight but "left" nationalistic people of national minorities or non-western countries love doing this fun thing where they're like "our noble faggots love when we call them faggots and dykes they don't complain at all and they would never try to transition or ask for marriage like your decadent western queers" once you know this you become immune to a lot of nominally pro-lgbt bullshit.
guy who read the book voice: fuuuuck this movie would be so much better if it was paced like shit
OP of the most mediocre post youve seen this Tuesday, gleefully screenshotting a tag which says 'investing at 6 notes' and typing out a faux "no you can't DO this to me" in a reblog
one user was quick on the draw and managed to get a screenshot of this incredible "punk oncology" post before mods took it down. Now you can enjoy it

"Let the Gweilo play. He has nothing left to lose."
I don’t think you can just call any man who tumblr is collectively horny over a tumblr sexyman since otherwise the canonical sexymen (Bill, the Onceler, Sans, Komeda, etc) would not really be distinguishable as a phenomenon due to fewer tumblr users overall being hot for a triangle than for Captain America and Dean Winchester and whatnot
