I stopped putting ice in each of my beverages
in hopes that if you ever came back
You would drink from the glass in my hand
and I would again be able to feel the brush of your lips against mine
Even if only it be from a room temperature glass of water
k.s.
I get jealous of every London rainstorm to kiss your cheeks and feel the tenderness of your lips
4310 miles from me
A stanza from Chapter of You
As transient as love can be
Science had us beat.
Ages and stages in life
Left empty pages
In a chapter cut entirely too short.
-k.s. poetry
Written the Night Prior to Leaving
I've been petrified to write
you into any of my stories
This pen nor these pages seemed ready
For a story beginning with you and I.
My body still shakes with fear
As laying next to a sleeping you
begins to feel normal.

“I couldn’t write about him and that scared me. It scared me because it made me question the reality of it. And if it’s real, was everything I’ve ever written subconsciously about him?”
— words by dominic riccitello
A stanza from Rainstorms
I watched you loop a tie around your neck so many times,
I’d’ve been able to do it myself had you let me,
But you never let me.
You just left me,
lying in a bed.
Cold. Yearning for your touch.

i wrote you ten thousand times whispers in the air shadows of the veil to feel your veins against my skin the vain of your being the soft sultry i once knew to feel your hues the neutrals of us i wade you in black to see if i could find you where streetlights dim i led us to kiss under drunken skies hands on your thighs arms twist the breeze of that night i lust your lips felt your teeth upon my skin i wrote you a poem before you even knew of poetry

I miss falling asleep to the rhythmic rise and fall of your chest

16 Year old Prostitute.
This is my own piece I wrote inspired by someone I know.
Bottles and bruises,
Bruises and bottles.
She try not to cry as he slowly
rubs his hand gently up her thigh.
Pretty girl it doesn’t have to be this way
There are plenty of other ways to get pay.
When you ask her she says there is no turning back.
16 years old selling pussy like a big mac.
She says she’s almost used to it now,
I tell her pretty girl stop you can find a way out somehow.
Now pretty girl has a baby by a nigga she doesn’t even know.
When she tells her father he hits her and says “You Fucking Hoe”
Baby bottles and bruises,
and Bruises and baby bottles.
16 years old selling pussy for dough.
still trying to make through school while hearing “You Fucking Hoe”
Pretty girl used to be on honor roll,
but now she just stuck into a deep endless hole.
17 years old coming up on her senior year.
She meets a boy who would never make her shed a tear.
He says to her “ Pretty girl it doesn’t have to be this way”
And for the first time ever she listens to what someone has to say.
They fall in love by winter break.
He just wants love and what he says is not fake.
He finally comes to meet her kid,
He didn’t leave or call her names like the others did.
Now just when pretty girl is finally okay,
Her father came back one day.
He was drunk and slurring his speach.
And he said “You fucking hoe, ruining everything, you stupid leach.”
Pretty girl please, stop! don’t grab that bottle!
Pretty girl stop your father is not a role model!
It was to late and and she finally snapped.
A pretty girl was found lying dead in her bed,
17 years old covered in red.
17 years old left her baby alone in this place,
17 years old, and now has a bullet going through her face.

I don't know if it's me, my exhaustion, or the whiskey in my hand; but it seems like lately the days are running together and I can't stop myself from missing you.

Today the person I'd been living with says she doesn't like black people or trust them. Now as she realizes the idiocy of her statement, she explained to me "not you, you know you don't count." 9 months I'd been living with someone who hates my ancestors but in her mind I don't count.

Leap of Faith
My bestfriend and I decided we were taking a leap of faith. We decided we wanted to go with our guts. Our passion. Our heart. To do this she had to drop out of nursing school and I had to leave the safety net of accounting and we were going to take a leap of faith. But really what does a leap of faith even mean? Is it just something people say sometimes when they're doing something dumb because that's kind of how it feels to me as I decide to be a writer and we all know how employable writers are (laughing on the outside, dying on the inside). So here I am... Taking a leap of faith. We were doing it together, only now she is scared. Scared because the world of journalism isn't as clear cut as a nurse and life isn't as black and white. The greyness of the profession is causing her to back out on our plan and most importantly on her dream. Do people faith leap often? And if so, what is the success rate of their leap? Did I make the right decision? Is my family going to hate me? How will I survive? Am I asking too many questions? Is this what a leap feels like? KG
Spring time
Rain drops are for kissing
and flowers are for sniffing
and he is not worth missing
and you are breath taking
and it’s Spring time.
and the flowers are blooming
and it’s raining outside
and he still hasn’t called
and you know he never loved you anyway
and you can say that now without crying
and you don’t dial his number anymore when you’ve had too much to drink
and you can take walks by yourself these days and love the silence
because its Spring time.
it’s raining.
there are birds chirping.
flowers blooming.
It’s a new beginning.
It’s Spring time.
