so much of the discourse that surrounds whats "allowed" in punk/hardcore scenes and shows entirely stems from ppl wanting to feel like theyre making some big political impact without doing anything actually impactful and i realized this after seeing ppl say that diy shows n that kind of shit are basically protests (i think i can get behind the thought process kinda, diy scenes exist as a protest to the larger corporate music industry and are typically full of left wing ppl and small local artists will often have explicitly political themes in their music) and should have the same exact etiquette and behavior outline as protests (ridiculous, im actually inclined to think youve never been to a protest) like u ppl wanna think of urselves as political activists soooo bad but not bad enough to do anything but go to shows
