If you dare come at me about banning straws, I will throw you into the sun cannon. I’m disabled, I’m crippled, I need disposable plastic straws, and all those pricey ridiculous alternatives aren’t working as well. Plastic straws were invented for the disabled.

Way to shit all over a vital access need because you think straws are worse than corporate greed.

We all care about the turtles, the seals, the oceans, obviously. Notice how the easiest thing to yell about was something that would barely affect anything but appealed heavily to emotional discourse.

The disabled community is huge, and it can be joined by anyone. Most of those As Seen On TV products were invented for us. Society still mocks us and ignores us, and often outright harms us in multiple ways.

Communicate better. Listen better. But stop putting us out in the cold because you are inconvenienced by our simplest needs.

Straws aren’t killing the planet, its animals, or people. They’re a microscopic fraction of an iota of a percentage of the problem. You want to do something? Ban plastic fishing nets. Anything else is just a hollow feel-good gesture at the expense of real living disabled people.

Antichrist, Adversary... Ring Bearer?

Based on this concept by @ineffable-feels, who gave me permission to write her idea, then discussed the design of the rings and helped me name this story. Thank you!

Concept: it’s the end of the world, Adam faces down Satan, does the whole ‘you’re not my dad!’ routine. Satan dramatically dissolves. Mr. Young drives up. Everything is all back to normal. Everything is the way it should be, according to Adam.

Crowley and Aziraphale both notice they are, inexplicably, wearing very ancient - but matching - wedding rings.

It had been a hell of a day, if you’d pardon his language. A hell of a decade, really, since Crowley had called to report that the Antichrist had been born and the great, invisible clock that counted down to Armageddon had begun ticking loudly - ineffably. Eleven years of constant worry, and then the absolute madness of the past week. And his shop had burned down! Oh, it was simply too much to bear. Aziraphale had never seen the appeal of sleeping, but after the last eleven years (and one week), he could rather understand the human desire to close one’s eyes and let yourself be carried off into pleasant dreams. A nap sounded rather nice, actually.

Aziraphale supposed Crowley wouldn’t mind if he kipped on the couch for a while - assuming Crowley even had a couch. Oh, that was a troubling thought. What if Crowley only had one bed? He was sure the demon would be wanting to sleep, and while Aziraphale wasn’t opposed to the idea of sharing a bed with Crowley (in truth, considering how madly he loved Crowley, the idea was rather appealing), he thought it may be terribly forward of him to suggest it. But no matter. They had much bigger fish to fry before they would be able to rest. Heaven and Hell would be out for vengeance, and soon.

He told himself that was why he didn’t notice the ring at first. Seems he would have, a foreign object suddenly appearing on his person, but it didn’t feel foreign. It felt as if he’d been wearing it for centuries - like it was part of him.

something I don't see a lot of people talking about is the fact that Crowley has killed for Aziraphale. not directly (and absolutely justified) but Crowley has taken human lives in order to save Aziraphale.

mostly I'm thinking of Nazi Germany in 1941. Aziraphale was in immediate danger of discorporation and yes, while there would have been paperwork, let's not pretend that Crowley saving Aziraphale was about the paperwork. It was about making sure Aziraphale could stay on the Earth, with him, so they could continue whatever it is they have. he was willing to kill for that.

Crowley literally redirected a bomb to that church. he gave the nazis a chance to go, but let's be honest, they probably wouldn't have realistically had time to get far enough away. as crowley put it: "If you all run away very, very fast, you might not die." he knew what the outcome of a redirected German bomber meant for these spies that had double crossed Aziraphale. he knew they'd die, and Aziraphale would be saved.

Crowley likes humanity, he does, and he does have a deep regard for their well-being as a species. but he loves Aziraphale. the earth, humans, none of that compares to Aziraphale. that's why he offered to run away even if the earth was destroyed in Armageddon. that's why he dropped a bomb on a church to kill some spies who were threatening Aziraphale (and maybe some civilians too, depending on the blast radius). he wants and needs Aziraphale around, and he killed people just to accomplish that, and frankly that's....that's profound as fuck.
