I made it

Well, almost.

I started this blog in October 2016 I think. I have never been really active, but it’s been around. At that time I was a bachelors student in Computer Science and Engineering. Following a bit of a detour by starting my master in Business & IT to Industrial Engineering and Mangement, I now am working on my master thesis. 

I can’t believe I’ve made it so far, and writing the thesis is going to be a long and hard process, but I can be proud, because I will finish it and I will make it.

you know when you’re born in a non-english speaking country bilingualism is kind of a default. we are taught english from a young age so when someone asks me what languages do i speak, i respond with “well croatian and english obv, but im studying french and russian too”. and that bothers me. because english is fucking hard. in my country bilingualism is default, trilingualism is expected, and people get impressed when you speak five fucking languages where as native english speakers are praised for learning one (1) foreign language. i get that english is a major global language and why it is taught, but it bothers me that even if i spoke 5 languages fluently it would be useless if i didnt speak perfect english. and along with that, all of my hard work that i put into my english is dismissed because english is expected of me. rant over.

The biggest difference between my master study and bachelor study is not even within the subjects. It is actually the interaction amongst students. During my bachelor you didn’t really talk to people outside of your friend group unless you were put into a group with others. While now at my masters, I just randomly talked to people from half the class, not even always about the class. I’m liking it.

This. This is what it was like moving cities between my bachelor's and master. It still sometimes is dark and hollow, but the light is shining brighter every day, finding my place more and more.

Forget pulling all-nighters and chugging coffee until it’s practically coursing through your veins. You know what gets me hyped up? Earl Grey tea on slow sunny mornings after a good night’s sleep. Submitting an assignment early, knowing you’ve completed it to the best of your ability. Reading for pleasure. That feeling of limbless relaxation after a good workout. Unearthing all your buried interests and falling in love with them over and over again.

I’m so going to fail my Stochastics Operations Research resit tomorrow. I’ve done 5 practice exams, that I also had done prior and I still fail all of them

1. Do you have pets? Why do or don’t you? Nope, there is simple no time to take care of one. Although my housemates and I have been thinking of a goat. 

2. Who is your favorite music artist? Why? Probably someone like Milow, because I feel like it is the perfect mix of fun sounds and heavy lyrics. 

3. How many close friends do you have? Though one, but I’d say 5 or something, it’s a thin line. 

4. What are you studying? Web Science (special track of Computer Science and Engineering)

5. ^ Why? It combines Computer Science with Psychology to create software that is immediately understood by everyone. 

6. Where do you want to be in 10 years? Working, after having obtained a masters degree. 

7. What is your favorite study space? Due to TU/ecomotive (student team creating worlds’ first circular car), I currently do not really have one, but probably the library. 

8. Which gif is an accurate description of you?

9. Who is your rolemodel? I do not necessarily have a rolemodel, as I feel like everyone should walk their own path with their own mistakes. But when it comes down to things, I usually ask my mom. 

10. Do you have or want tattoos? Why? No, nor do I want to. I am way to scared to regret it. 

11. Do you drink your coffee black or with sugar/milk? No coffee at all actually. 

I opted to not create any new questions or tag people, as I don’t think I’ll be able to get to 11, whoops.
