Before leaving the moon
...and thats gonna stuck in his head now.
just received the best text message I’ve ever had. from my mom
2 pics. no caption
please read this even if you're not indian. especially if you're not indian.
you've seen the jokes. india is "dirty", indians are "everywhere", why don't they fix their own country. ok. let me tell you why, and what's happening right now while nobody's watching.
first, the history you skipped: britain ruled india for two centuries and drained it. economist utsa patnaik's research estimates around $45 trillion in today's money was taken. the india that got independence in 1947 was one of the poorest countries on earth. every "why is india like this" question starts there. you don't get to profit off a robbery and then mock the crime scene.
now, what's happening RIGHT NOW:
in may the question paper for NEET leaked. that's the national medical entrance exam. over 2.2 million students took it. cancelled. years of studying, families' savings poured into coaching, gone overnight because someone sold the paper. students died by suicide after. these were kids who wanted to be doctors.
and out of that came a protest movement. a gen z group called the cockroach janta party, started by a 30 year old named abhijeet dipke, got 22 million instagram followers within DAYS. they've been doing a sit-in at jantar mantar in delhi demanding education minister dharmendra pradhan resign.
and then there's sonam wangchuk. if you've watched 3 idiots, he's the real engineer the character was based on. built solar schools in ladakh. invented ice stupas so himalayan villages have water. spent his whole life on education. he's 59 and he's been on hunger strike for 17+ days now. reporters went to see him this week and he was too weak to talk. and the troll armies are calling him "anti national" and "foreign funded". a man starving himself for other people's children. that's the thing here, anyone who asks a question is suddenly a traitor.
it's not one incident, it's everywhere you look:
• infrastructure worth thousands of crores failing within months of the ribbon cutting. tunnels collapsing in regions where heavy rain is a guarantee, not a surprise.
• youth unemployment near 10% for ages 15 to 29, 13.6% in cities. in a country of 1.42 billion where more than half the population is young.
• only about the top 3% of indians earn above 10 lakh a year. meanwhile billionaire wealth keeps ballooning and the headlines celebrate it.
• manipur burned for over two years. an ethnic conflict, tens of thousands displaced, and the prime minister barely said the word manipur while it happened.
• journalists raided. critics' houses bulldozed. activists sitting in jail for years without trial under laws like UAPA. our press freedom ranking has cratered.
• even the petrol is a fight now, ethanol blending pushed through while drivers complain about their engines and get no straight answers.
and through all of it, the PM, who came to power on religious polarisation (americans, sound familiar?), travels abroad for photo ops and has not held one single open press conference in over a decade. not one.
what i'm asking:
if you're not indian: share this. our media mostly won't cover any of it because the big outlets are owned by the same billionaires the government serves. the only reason wangchuk's fast is getting any coverage is people refusing to look away.
if you ARE indian: speak up even if you're comfortable. especially if you're comfortable. join the protests. add to this, correct me, translate it. staying quiet is a choice when nothing in this post touches your life.
india is not "dirty". india was robbed, and it's being robbed again, from the inside this time. but it's also the country where a 59 year old will starve for strangers' kids and 22 million young people will rally behind a party literally named after cockroaches, because cockroaches survive everything.
we can still save her. but only loudly.
reblog. share. don't scroll past.

An important tweet
This is such a "common sense" way of putting it. Everybody memorize this for spitting it back out whenever needed.
Never thought I'd have the opportunity to say this again: Reducing women and girls to their vaginas and then forcing them to show those vaginas to strangers is not a feminist ideal.
I keep thinking about that "Final Fantasy is a Homestuck" post because I hate how true it is. Trying to describe this game makes me sound about how trying to describe Homestuck made me sound.
Yes please play this 12 year-old game. Sorry you can't play the first part of it because it was so bad they rebooted the whole thing and dropped a dragon nuke on the planet and caused planetary ecological changes. They will still reference that, sorry. Yes the entire base story is considered okish, please play for a 60 hours to get to the first expansion. It is actually worth it trust me I know it sounds wild, but it will rip your heart out several times. Some of the best writing in the entire game is in an optional job quest storyline where you pick up a greatsword and get asked by your own internal pain why you don't just go mad.
There are bunnies on the moon, the dragons are aliens, you optionally travel through time and space to catch a fish, you have a cook-off and alpaca catching competition to determine a nation's ruler, the guy who basically invented advanced gun technology keeps stealing old advanced weaponry to tinker with and no one is stopping him for some reason, Estinien is there (it makes sense in context), the catholic elves are so messed there are LEVELS to that shit (everyone should do the Scholasticate quests! :D), one of your foes won't fucking stay dead and goes to extreme lengths just to have a punching match with you, depression is a bird, one old tired man just wants a nap but also funded an entire theater company, if you do an option storyline of fights you can find a sentient plush chocobo and his world-ending superweapon bug pal just in the world map, you have an entire WWE cagematch fight series, gundam references!, there's Evangelion crossover!(soon), there's Nier crossover!, the gods of the world form Voltron, a man shackles himself to an ancient database tower to pull you to another world.
I sound like a crazy person but that's not even all of it! It's a major time sink I really don't blame people for not playing it. But if you've at all considered it give it a go, there's a free trial that keeps getting expanded so you can play 5/6 of the 10 year story that just wrapped up for free. You've probably seen the meme.
Give it a shot. This game actually literally saved my life.
And at the end they'll ask was your journey worthwhile? And henceforth you shall walk.
i cant stop laughing help me please
genuinely just posting this for the atla image i CANT
i kind of hate it when they cast the same 10 superstars who are in literally everything in a movie. celebrity-sickness
not every movie needs to be an ensemble cast of timothee chalamet, zendaya, tom holland, robert pattinson, and anya taylor-joy
i love the frequent recurring canon fact of aymeric "mr diplomatic politician guy who has to remain composed" de borel just staring and smiling at the wol in awe and talking about them all the time, to the point that it is not even remotely subtle to anyone alive with eyes
like ok loverboy can you at least try to be a bit more subtle about it (do not. it is very enjoyable to watch. keep it up
edit: i have added more simply for the love of the game

guys. Guys please you're allowed to say big boy words. please we cannot keep just rolling with the sanitization of every space on the internet ok. you're allowed to say suicide. you're allowed to say porn. they're not bad words, they're just words.
also by ''censoring'' the words with silly spellings you're actually making it much harder for people to filter out. please just say Sex you don't have to call it woohoo like it's the fucking sims. i promise the Word Police aren't going to arrest you
I may be late to the game on this but I couldn't for the life of me find a gif of Vash's glowing eyes in the Stargaze finale. So I made one. Had to compress it because it's too awesome for tumblr buuut if anyone wants it, here you go! (The scene's also been slowed down just a touch).
Off the coast of Australia Macroctopus caught the shark, wrapped all its tentacles around it and soon released it. Most likely, he scraped all the parasites off her.

Hi! I want to say that I appreciate your blog a lot! Thanks for being accessible to the Chinese-illiterate T.T Controversial question... Your side of hanfu movement is positive! But some have the motive of Han-supremacy. I personally see the movement as more a push against Western influences, but I'm still worried. Is there a safe way to really participate in the movement? Also, what do you think about the term "huafu" (which was for the "Huafu Day") including minority ethnic groups' clothing?
Hi, I’m glad you appreciate my blog ^^ Thanks for the question, and sorry for taking ages to reply! (hanfu photo via weibo):
So, I received this ask (and similar asks) many years ago, but put them off because I wanted to focus on positivity & education and avoid negativity & controversy, especially given how limited awareness of hanfu was in English-language online spaces at the time. Now that hanfu awareness has progressed and stabilized up to a point, I'll answer these asks.
As I stated in my post here, "the hanfu movement is not a monolith. Ever since its inception in 2003, the hanfu revival movement has been a grassroots, bottom-up movement with members of various backgrounds, ideologies, and opinions". There is a variety of motivations, which I wrote about in my posts here and here. According to these posts, the main motivations behind the hanfu movement include affinity and interest in hanfu culture and traditional Chinese culture, aesthetics, and self-expression. Included in this is pushback against Western influences, which is explained in my post here. There are some motivated by ideals of Han supremacy, but that is not the main driving force of the current hanfu movement. There is a more in-depth discussion on this topic in this post.
As for safe ways of participating in the movement, I would just say find like-minded people/organizations that share the same motivations and values as yourself.
As for what I think about the term "huafu", I wrote in my post here that I find it "useful as a short catch-all term for Chinese clothing that isn’t limited to the currently accepted definition of hanfu". I think it's helpful and convenient to have an umbrella term for Chinese clothing that covers both hanfu and ethnic minority groups' clothing. Of course, the term "huafu" is not and should not be a replacement for the term "hanfu".
For more references, please check out my hanfu movement and huafu tags.
Hope this helps! ^^
