Head-cannons for theater dregs

Kaz is equal parts costumer and student director (everyone listens to him but questions if they should)

Inej does all her own stunts, hates being cast in lead roles, and writes dialogue for the shows

Jesper always wants to play the main love interest, resents prop weapons, runs a betting ring with the stage crew

Wylan writes all the music (obv), handles special effects, only tries for roles opposite Jesper (and makes him run lines with him)

Nina brings snacks for the cast and crew, knows she can’t sing but tries out for every musical, stage kisses her friends for fun

Matthias is only here to spend more time with Nina, is always the strong/brooding love interest, embarrassed constantly

Okay so the Six of Crows musical is absolutely taking over my mind and now all I can think about is the fact that it NEEDS a dream ballet. You’re probably thinking “where would that even fit??” Or “aren’t dream ballet’s meant to capture immense feeling?” And let me pose to you the following: Inej making her way through the harbor during the ambush, being attacked, and KAZ COMING TO SAVE HER! All the internal turmoil, unsaid feelings, the score could be called “say you’re sorry” and then the dregs can sing a dark shanty while someone loses an eye, back on brand.
