Reality Checks

Reality checks are when you test your reality to see whether or not you're dreaming. By getting into the habit of doing this in your waking life, you sometimes do this in your sleeping life, which induces a lucid dream.

Hands- Count your fingers, and make sure you have 10. In your dreams, you may have more or less fingers, or your hands may look weird. By noticing you don't more/less fingers, this could induce a lucid dream.

Clock-Stare at a clock. If you can't read it or the hands are constantly moving, you are very likely dreaming (or you need to put on your glasses or fix your clock).

Table-Try to push your fingers through a table (or your palm). If you fingers go through, you are dreaming.

Tongue- gently bite your tongue. if it hurts, you're awake, and if it doesn't, you're probably dreaming.

Sky-If you look at the sky and it either looks like a painting or there isn't a sky at all, you are dreaming.

Nose-Pinch your nose closed and try to breathe through it. If you can breathe through your nose while its pinched closed, you are dreaming.

i have found that some reality checks can fail. for example, i will count my fingers while i am dreaming, and find it normal that i only have 6 fingers and that they all look like tree roots. i tend to do several reality checks in succession, that way if one fails, the others most likely won't. These are just the reality checks that i do/know of. I also do reality checks around every hour and whenever i think about it, just so i get into the habit of doing it quicker, so that i have a higher chance of doing it in a dream :)

A shifting/ void method.

I use this, so I know that it works. It works for me. Whether or not it works for you is completely upon you.

This is an awake method.

1. I journal to get out all my thoughts and worries.

2. I meditate for about 10 to 15 minutes.

3. I lie down in a starfish position usually on my back.

4. I focus on my surroundings for 15 seconds then I focus on my body for 15 seconds. I repeat this like 4 to 5 times.

5. Then, I count to a hundred an say an affirmation between each count. I try to count to a hundred, but I usually get into to the void by like 30.

6. Thats it, and boom you're in the void state.

Tip- Avoid getting excited or thrilled when you feel yourself start to float. Try not to focus on that the floating but your affirmations instead.

particularly about the scene where Han cuts open the tauntaun to save Luke. i would dream that I was Luke and Han was putting me in the tauntaun and it smelled really bad. I couldn’t move.
