phrases of international online friends
"what do YOU guys call it"
"isn't it [insert time here] over there????"
"GO THE FUCK TO BED"
"good morning" (it's 6pm in your timezone)
"do you have/say [thing] over there"
"how's the weather over there?" (probably better than yours)
I feel like writers are often waiting to write until they know everything about their plot or characters or when they have the energy. Donât wait. Write not knowing. Just write it.
i'm not aro but i find it so annoying whenever i see a well-written, tight-knit friendship & people immediately jump to "they're dating/poly/qpr" like NO. they are FRIENDS. are we familiar with that concept? and it's getting to the point where i am genuinely afraid to write complex friendships because i don't want people to be like "oh this relationship is Too Meaningful to just be platonic" like no??? it's meaningful because it's platonic. ugh
also i know it's a meme that we all hate writing but that's not true. i fucking love writing. i am so serious, it's okay to love writing. you don't have to hate it to be a real writer. this shit rocks.
I love when fic writers tag their works like:"I have no idea what Iâm doing, but hereâs 100k of it."
đ Nadinâs Hope: A Mother, A Memory, A Future
Hello, my name is Nadin. Iâm from Gaza. Iâm a graphic design graduate, a wifeâand now, a mother.
I finished my design studies just before the war began. I had dreams of starting a small studio, of creating art that told stories. I used to think about colors and fonts and the future.
Then, the war came. And the future became something we tried to hold onto, moment by moment.
On October 22, 2023, I learned I was pregnant when a missile destroyed my husbandâs family home, killing 25 membersâhis mother, siblings, nieces and nephewsâentire branches of our family in seconds.
We were displaced twice. Everything was goneâhome, safety, routine, rest.
A few weeks later, I gave birth to our daughter. There was no crib, no celebrationânot even stillness. But she arrived, quietly and beautifully. In her eyes I saw something I hadnât felt in weeks: life that still wanted to grow.
Now, our days are shaped by decisions that could dismantle the future we are trying to build together.
Today, Israelâs government is discussing plans for a full military occupation of the Gaza Strip, including Gaza City and southern regions. The stated aim: to eliminate Hamas and later hand governing control to allied Arab forcesânot Israelâbut with no clear path to peace or normalcy.
The humanitarian fallout is devastating. More than 61,000 Palestinians have died in this war; hunger and malnutrition are rising sharply. Hospitals in north Gaza have shut down, and 193 people have now died of starvation, nearly half of them children.
Aid remains blocked, water is scarce, and many risk dying of hunger or disease long before future promises arrive.
We Donât Know What Comes Next Thereâs no clear path forwardâonly uncertainty for our daughterâs life and our ability to survive another day.
My name is Nadin, and Iâm a mother from Gaza.
How You Can Help Iâm asking for supportânot for comfort, but for survival:
Help us meet basic needs so we can breathe, heal, and preserve a world for our daughter.
Support us as I try to stand again on my own feetâeven a glimmer of stability matters.
If youâve read this far, thank you. If you can giveâthank you. If you canâtâjust sharing this post is a lifeline I will never forget.

Reminders for fanfic writers who think it âdoesnât countâ
⊠Your writing counts. like, a lot. If someone felt something because of what you wrote, then it matters. That scene you almost didnât post? Yeah. Believe me, someone out there bookmarked it for a reason.
⊠Writing existing characters doesnât make it âless than.â Youâre building arcs, crafting dialogue, emotion, pacing. Youâre studying character psychology like a scientist. Thatâs not âjust fanfic,â thatâs storytelling.
⊠âbut itâs just fanficâ ...no. STOP, itâs craft. Itâs understanding tone. Itâs hitting emotional beats. Itâs layering theme and backstory and prose into something people feel. Youâre doing the work, you just donât get graded on it. (Which, honestly is a blessing.)
⊠Writing fanfic means you love stories enough to live inside them. You care, deeply. You care enough to reimagine, to explore, to add something of yourself to a world you didnât create and somehow still make it feel brand new.
⊠Someone out there rereads your fic like itâs their favorite book. Maybe theyâve saved a line to their notes app,or they quote it to a friend. Maybe they just think about it when theyâre having a bad day. That little fic you almost deleted, itâs comfort now.
⊠Your comments section is real. Every âI needed thisâ and âthis made me cry in a good wayâ is proof, you donât need a book deal to matter. You donât need a publisher to have an impact, because you already do.
FANFIC IS WRITING! Fanfic is yours.
Youâre not âjustâ anything. Youâre a writer, own it. Be proud of that.

Looking for Writer Moots!
In the process of doing a tag game writer questionnaire thing, I realized that I donât have many writer friends on here.
I love all the moots I already have, donât worry yâall :3
But Iâd like to have more writer friends. So, if you also want a writer friend, just like or reblog this post and I will find you. (That means sending you an ask about it, if that wasnât clear.) I mainly write fantasy with lots of worldbuilding, so if youâre interested in that (or if you also write that), then I guess this is for you.
If weâre already moots and you write but itâs not what we met because of, you can also interact. If you donât, Iâm already following you for your own merits, so donât worry about it.
