Thank you for your interest! I was thinking how to answer this without major spoilers, so I'll keep it short! Lucian, when he was still a child, allowed the "essence from the mirror" to take his reflection. To be more precise, he allowed it to take his appearance. Because, you know, Lucian didn't have a reflection in old silver mirrors, like many other vampires.

The Mirror Prince is Lucian himself. An integral part of him. It's not some separate personality with its own thoughts. It's a reflection of himself. Wilder, sometimes more cruel and ruthless. Sometimes more cold-blooded, sometimes more emotional. Like a candle that burns too hot until it burns out.

However, this part of him can go beyond the limits and believe that he is not just a part, but a leading part. "The best version of you."
