In 2026, the chicest thing a gay actor can do is never explicitly come out as gay but also make it abundantly clear that he is. Coming out is too modern. Staying closeted is too old fashioned. But this method merges contemporary freedom with Old Hollywood glamour and allure, and it weeds out the dumbest people who truly don’t get it. I call it the Pascal Method.
You clearly don't go here or to queer history and signaling, or both, enough to have this conversation and I'm not going to explain it to you. You could have asked questions, you could have done even a modicum of research. You didn't and you made yourself look ignorant. Goodbye.
#I'm fucking crying#this is an instant classic#this is the next meme#i can't believe I'm here to see a baby copypasta nary two hours old#I can't#lol#i laughed way too hard#iconic
I've read a few recently published books, and there's this recurring pattern where if anyone does anything bad and interesting, they have to later talk about it in a way that makes it clear that it was a misunderstanding/ justified/ not their fault, so they're still a good person. and if they have a disagreement with another character, they have to therapy talk it out, regardless of their background. it doesn't matter if this is a street urchin with three teeth who just stabbed and kidnapped someone, you will get eloquent sterile therapy speak that will smooth out any possible emotional tension. and everyone asks for permission before they kiss, and waits for a clear enthusiastic yes. again, doesn't matter the character's background or situation, they will ask "can I please kiss you," because if they didn't, that could get all yucky and uncertain, couldn't it? and if a character is from a rich family, they will hate being in a rich family, and hate wealth signifiers, and actually be all for class equality. and everyone is casually queer, without thought being put into how that would mesh with the society that is being described. like yes, this is violent class-based system obsessed with inheritance, but no, it's not actually a problem that the child they've coldly groomed to take on the family mantle is unwilling to beget an heir because of gay. the parents might be terrible, cruel and fascistic, but they're not homophobic! I don't know, it just seems like EVERYTHING that could actually be messy gets sanded and sanded until it's smooth as a shark, but the Fun Violence is allowed to stay, because bloodshed doesn't actually bother anyone or have any consequence apart from your rogue character shrugging and going oops, was that me? the rogue is still a good person though. if you think they're not, just wait for the two solid pages of introspection. and yes they started the book by slitting two throats, but that was fine. they will ask permission before hugging you.
ok so, I approached my local library with a proposal to donate a mural as a way to A: build portfolio/gain practical experience and B: give back to a beloved public institution. The director was very enthusiastic about it and i've been working on it since the beginning of March. Come with me as I endeavor to paint what is in all honesty an excessive amount of birds
I wanted the birds to look like they were actually in the space so first thing after doing the draft was to do a lighting study
after that I covered the walls in letters in lieu of a projector/vr headset bc i have neither of those :) Then i take a picture of the section of wall and superimpose the lineart over top of it so I can pencil in the lines
et voila
and that was a whole week on it's own so next comes the paintin' >:)
my chains are broken i am FREE. although i did have a great deal of fun with this, the barring on the wings itself took me like four days and i am READY to move on
this was a week and a half of continuous work so please excuse me for getting a little emotional in the bg 🙏
BIRD NUMBER 10!!! The Male Mallard Duck, Anas platyrhynchos
the male and female ones are gonna be posted separately bc they're taking a lot longer lol but yea! super happy i was able to capture the iridescent green of the head, i found metallic green and blue paint at a craft store that really made his head POP. it looks better in person i promise
ALSO!! As this is the 10th one, BIG announcement. The end is in sight!!!!! I plan to finish within the next 3 weeks and there will be a small dedication ceremony/ unveiling happening at the library to commemorate its completion on the 16th of May. If you live in the Western New York region and want to check it out for yourself shoot me a dm!
Also thank you everyone for your kind words and support throughout this whole process, it's been a genuine treat thinking there are potentially thousands of you out there cheering me on while I paint this 🥹
we're movin right along with bird numero 11!! The lady Mallard!! Anas platyrhyncos
the 16th is looming in the distance so i'm trying to get thru these as quickly as i can so i can have as much time for the GBH as possible. i still need to do the names next to all of them so i've got about a week and a half to finish everything which is GREAT because i have adhd and nothing gets my ass in gear like a fuckin deadline, let me tell you
power couple that they are, here's bird number 12 and 13,
the Northern Cardinals, Cardinalis cardinalis
and NOW that they are complete, ITS GO TIME, in the next five days (library's closed for mother's day 😭😭) i need to have the GBH fully rendered, the names of the birds vectored, weeded, masked, applied to the wall, and then painted, plus additional cattails throughout. I may be able to get away with just getting the GBH done in time for the unveiling and then just have the names and cattails added later, but i'm gonna really try to get it all done in time. BUT, i have a plan. Part of why i take so long on these is because i really am just figuring it out as I do it lmao. there have been many a time where i am sitting on top of the ladder googling "how to paint birds" but I think if i take the time tomorro to do all that figuring out how to approach it beforehand, this will go a lot faster. I may also recruit some of my artist friends to help with the placing of the names... hrmm we'll see.
Anyways, shout out to the librarian who tracked down exactly the thing i needed so i could figure out where to place the highlights in my birds eyes, ur the real mvp
thank you to everyone who reached out or got excited about this project, it genuinely gave me the fuel i needed to keep going. In total, the 480+ total hrs it took me to cover this wall pales in comparison to how long its expected to spend on there, hopefully imparting a sense of beauty and love for the natural world to the next generation and here's hoping i'm only getting started with these.
out of all the final fantasy characters who appear in kingdom hearts, I think squall and seifer ff8's appearances are the funniest. Two angry nihilistic kids turned violent and selfish by war and the culture they exist in, once removed from that culture, become a hot male milf and a flamer in a crop top respectively. Freed from their narrative chains to coupon at the farmers market and play competitive wiffle ball with their belly out to their heart's content. Also (important): Squall and Aerith ff7 have inexplicably become best friends
WE know what dyanna dayne is dead. because egg said so and also because this is westeros. BUT. consider this.
she's alive. she's separated from maekar and chilling at starfall and would have gone to court for every last pebble in summerhall, but unfortunately this is westeros and there's not enough rights to go around for all that.
look at that man and tell me he isn't giving divorced energy. look at those children and tell me they're not giving contentious divorce. the targaryens get the children in the separation and it is unclear how furious or relieved or heart-wrenchingly outraged dyanna is about this, she still choose to leave.
she gets out of the burning house and can't - won't - couldn't have taken anyone else with her. no one's fault and everyone's fault, and daeron knows she is going to leave long before she does.
there is something rotten in that line and nothing she can do about it but abide with it, feed it with her blood and her labors. until she can't abide it; cannot pretend it makes a difference anymore. her body multiplies and multiplies and it is worse than if it were out of duty; but is love, passion.
she walks the halls of summerhall, the armory and nursery and knows. knows in her bones and her hips, the round of her belly - that there is nothing there that can be saved.
not her husband. not her children, her princes and princesses, arrogant and imperious little things, her exceptional things. made out of exceptionalism, different from the world unto themselves, and there is something repellent about their petulance, their immense want for her care. they sleep curled around dead eggs, and that is pathetic, sad, stupid. a tradition of the blood, but the blood is rotten and sick, it clings to the past.
she looks at them and her heart does not turn with sentiment, not as it should; or perhaps it does, but not enough, not the correct sentiments.
many mothers feel this, she is told, quietly, tucked away in the places women speak together, bowers and rose-rich walks.
dyanna knows otherwise. perhaps all women predict such things, the worst of things, in the melancholy of after-birth, too-close births. if they do, few are brave enough to get out, get free.
she had thought, once, there might be something else for them. herself and maekar, flint and steel and a relentless sparkling: there would be use for both of them, to stand against enemies and plots, make something out of duty and idleness, something of worth.
life had given them times of peace and plenty instead, and neither of them is well suited to it. lacking anything else to strike against, they turn on each other. flint and steel, and they keep catching fire, testing each other.
the children are secondary. when they are drawn together, everything else is secondary; and they are always drawn together, a preference that grips and demands and is more than ordinary love, more than the simple and dutiful and honorable care and counsel husband and wife might give each other.
there is nothing dutiful and honorable about them - they match each other too well for such things to feel anything but false, like thin pretenses.
at some point the fierce and cruel joy of it lost its value if not its edge. too long, any longer, and they would remain exactly so: until the silver of his hair lost its glint, and her shoulders stooped with age, and their tongues grew yet meaner, harder, their reconciliations so hard-won and fleeting as to not be worth nothing at all.
dyanna is the braver of the two. it is so simple and so dreadful.
the love is there and it is deeply useless. unfortunately they are both still in love with each other (derogatory) whenever they're in the same vicinity the hate sex is amaaazing. which is how egg and rhae happened.
rhae is born in starfall and maekar only knows she exists by the time she's walking. he rides out to bring her to summerhall. he might have let her stay there as a would-be bastard, rhae sand, something of the like.
he might have, if he were kind; if he were less of a dragon, more sensible and less covetous and less himself, if he were not the restless prince dyanna had once chosen for her own, so unsettled in himself that it was its own queer sort of madness. dyanna had chosen him, not despite but because of it, not for duty but for herself, when they were both little more than children.
rhae is taken to summerhall. it is the last time her parents meet each other. the last time dyanna sees her, perhaps. dyanna does not toss herself out of starfall's highest tower: mostly out of spite, really.
all this to say.
ser duncan is absolutely flabbergasted when he and his squire come to seek shelter and service with the daynes of starfall, and egg goes quiet, and quieter, goes still and polite and too-distant when he bows to the lady of starfall, tall and fair and noble and terrible to look upon, and greets: lady mother.
my last self reblog for this: I know ppl want furry tiddy art or whatever but I'm black and I wear that proudly while also wanting to depict my vulnerability when it comes to it. it's something I wanna do along with my general queer furry art
