It is active trend of wearables,  logging health, which are useful in keeping eye on personal health. This data is really a JUICE for governments & health companies. It will not be surprise, soon interested parties will start purchasing health logging of people.

Big Data - Dubai & Sharjah Traffic

Dubai & Sharjah are two connected cities, people live at Sharjah and work at Dubai (due to high cost of living in Dubai). Every morning people travel from Sharjah to Dubai & at evening back to Sharjah. Total traveling time is 30 minutes average, but at morning and evening it leads to couple of hours! It ends up with frustration in employees, reduce in productivity & increase in anxiety.

Building New Roads, Inter-connected train networks, cheap housing in Dubai could reduce this issue. But, it will come again if proper management will not be applied.

Expo2020 is coming, when Dubai population is going to be doubled, when this problem will get worse.

Keeping the current circumstances in mind, there are certain set of ideas, which could possibly reduce the trouble.

Intelligent Salik (auto toll system between Sharjah & Dubai) If, DUBAI RTA will use SALIK information already available to calculate traffic pattern of congested hours & adjust SALIK prices according to FREE & Congested road timings will encourage people to use alternative roads.

Relatively less congested road will have low SALIK prices at peak hours but, highly congested roads will have high tolling costs. It will discourage people to make roads more congested.

Traffic Aware Alerts RTA has mobile apps which could be used to collect GPS location of drivers & give them alerts prior to join any roads based on its congestion and provide alternative routs for happy traveling.

Traffic Aware Destination Timings RTA has traffic details, they could use that information to give a calculated destination reaching time based on available traffic on roads, timing on roads, accidents & other circumstances.

Taxis Patterns RTA has taxis system connected with GPS and has information of free & booked taxis. If RTA could see, total number of booked taxis vs free taxis on roads for certain amount to time. They could identify, how much taxis could be sufficient enough to cater needs of traffic in certain timings.

All of following problems could be solved by Big Data by RTA. Expo2020 is coming. If Dubai Government will take help from Big Data they could cater future challenges efficiently.

Performance Based Salary Packages

When we will say performance based salary, “Performance” is most ambiguous part. Most of people don’t know how their performance will be measured. If there is a crappy usual “Performance Appraisal” based system in-place, it is not aligned with what company goals & finally a true disaster came & destroy employees trust on company, and Company’s confidence on their teams.

In rapid change world, companies goals are changing, and with changing job nature, changing goals, it has to change “Performance Appraisal”, which is not workable.

Keeping, all these things in mind, what there will be simple & straightforward way.  

If employee will able to do XXX hours job(billable) in 160 hours (total official time). Employee will have XXXX salary.

If employee will do XXX hours job monthly & do Quality Assurance by himself, Employee will have XXXX salary.

If employee will do XXX hours job monthly & do Quality  Assurance, Plus client communication, Employee will have XXXX salary.

All previous, if employee will manage other team members, manage QA, Client Communication & start completing XXXX amount of hours per month, Employee will have XXXX salary.

“This is simple package like system, which we are purchasing like, 25GB quota price is $XXX & something like this”.

To start an IT Career is not such easy like this ever, students could start internships or start professional training sessions and kick start their careers. This seems very easy, but is this starting of REAL Career?

See what technologies are available in market(you can check by Job Posting Websites), it will provide good idea. But first consult with some professionals, Like,

.Net, PHP is ever green technology.

Ruby on Rails is young technology but more and more people adopting it due to faster results, less time to learn and less development time.

iOs Development is most booming technology next years, as iPhone, iPad, Android and other tablet devices rise[reference older post].

So, none of technology is bad or Good. 

iOs developers are getting double salaries than .Net / PHP developers in market.  Same with ROR, because, they are able to develop websites with in days not in months. So selection of technology effects overall career.

It matters most,

What work you're joining company has? Check company website and know what kind of work company doing, either creating simple portfolio websites or targeting bigger solid projects. Companies with their websites / portfolios with higher end projects means, more and more chances to learn.

Companies who are doing mickey mouse jobs, has less details, means, you will spend good time there but with lesser learning.

Maturity Level of a Company, if you will start your career with a company who will well known, it will help you to grow career and give future benifits. A well mature company means, it is now smooth in their processes. 

I have a friend who joined 2 people company, where he has to spend much of his time on doing mickey mouse jobs, because they are new in market and not able to get significant amount of work. Their processes were crapped and finally he quiet job to select a better company with Better Bigger Projects.

First 2 years Planning

What is your emphasize on first two years? You like to learn or earn? Because, in starting learning is much more important, but earning should be part of this. So, working in well reputed organization, staying at least first 2 year an organization, working on cutting edge technology will definitely pay you off.
