Rewatching my comfort copaganda (Rizzoli and Isles) and in season 5 I lowkey wish Maura had adopted McGruff in "Bite out of crime" and that Jane had adopted Tasha in "It takes a village".
They could've had little mini me's of eachother. A really talented pre-med student and a feral dog boy who would bite criminals to save maura.
Why do I rarely see Azula being portrayed as the ultimate ragebaiter she actually is? Like, this is literally one of her dominant traits.
Meanwhile, Zuko? He sucks at recognizing bait. He sees it, and he has to lash out. The combination is perfect: the best ragebaiter meets the most easily baited target. Peak sibling dynamic, yet I rarely see it being exploited :(
Paprika (2006) has me ruminating on what it means to be a woman and put on the costume of the manic pixie dream girl in order to make her true (cold, stoic, no-nonsense) self more palatable to her clients. The feeling encapsulated by the peeling scene, where someone feels entitled to see, own and possess the "real you" against your will feels really poignant from this framework.
so this guy right he makes ancient egyptian themed furry costumes. he makes all kinds but mostly he specializes in Horus heads. it's his passion really. he loves to make the beautiful falcon head of the Sun God. anyway so he's at a con one day and he sees this whole bunch of people in middle kingdom dress with these indistinguishable animal heads. he's like. oh man these folks could really use a new source, i can hardly tell what animal those are! so he goes over and he says "hey guys! i see you are into ancient egyptian mythological themed furry costumes--if any of you are interested in being the radiant Son of Ra, I am the BEST in the business!"
and the group of people look at each other, then at him. awkward. finally one of them says: "uh. no thanks. we're all Set."
The Hivemind is the most effective Bioweapon in the universe.
Watching Pluribus, the way the hive acts in the first few episodes makes you wonder how it plans to survive long term.
They get mauled by zoo animals, they can't harm any living organism, not even picking apples, and they can't knowingly make machines to cause harm (the example given is an animal-killing machine, but I'd assume current infrastructure like cobalt/lithium mines, fracking, deforestation and roundup pesticides also count.) They will starve to death as cities get engulfed in kudzu, as Diabatè says, they'll go extinct within 10 years.
So you start thinking what's the point, untill Zosia tells Carol on their date that they're going to build more antenna to broadcast the RNA sequence into the universe, diverting all power to keep it going for along as possible.
So it comes together that the Hivemind is a universe spanning virus, the same way influenza doesn't care if the original host dies along as it propagates to more hosts.
I assume the genetic code of the virus is
Infection of all sentient life
Find and turn all the non-assimilated, to make sure they don't interfere with step 3
Divert all material and resources to antenna production and power, making it fully automated.
That's why they need Carol to die or assimilate, because they plan to be dead within 10 years and don't want to risk her being around to smash their shit.
Because this is so complex and requires technology to propagate I think this is a peaceful version of the Fero swarm from horrizon: zero dawn, using your enemies infrastructureand biomass against them, a weapon used to utterly destroy other lifeforms before they get to space and become competitors.
Whichever civilisation created the Pluribus just makes sure that their colonies never make the RNA/ are immune, they make it receivable by radio, an early technology a just-pre-spacefaring civiliasion will have access to, and then make sure the RNA kills itself via starvation after a decade so if they need to settle/harvest a planet they don't have to wait long/risk infection.
Tl;Dr the Hivemind of Pluribus is the most advanced, peaceful Bioweapon in the universe. In the shape of an Evil, Chain Letter.

Reading the new birds of prey comics, I'm obsessed with Vixen and The Red, I've known about The Green for awhile through Poison Ivy but "plants sharing a hive mind and consciousness" is a trope so I thought it was just The Green. But a force of primal animality is so cool, and sent me down a rabit hole with The Blue, The White and others like The Melt and stuff (also that I have to definitely read Swamp Thing ATP)
Anyways, it made me think there should be a colour for each Kingdom of Species, seeing as we have 2 already, I made this, and i don't think there's any overlap with any current forces, so enjoy!
