“You’ve been booked for 10 hours.”
No fucking way.
Eren’s body was frozen. Standing in the middle of the awfully quiet hospital hall, he was sure this was a dream. 10 hours? He’d never been booked for that long, ever. And as he read the last name of the client he was supposed to drive tonight, his heart began pounding. Because it was your surname written on the screen.
When he got back home with his mom after her doctor’s appointment, there were all kinds of thoughts passing through his mind. A mix of slight nervousness and excitement he couldn’t quite figure out. Well, the nervousness part he could, because what if he messed something up? Even though the job wasn’t particularly hard, he needed it so badly, he was always on edge that something bad might happen. Usually, he would try to fight the anxiousness away but sometimes it was too hard.
After he got the message about the booking, it was all he could think about. It even made him relax a little after the hospital, because at least he knew that 10 hours meant more money, and, well, he could buy more medication for his mom that way. Being a chauffeur for not more than a few months, he was still pretty new to the job, and, unfortunately, he didn’t get many clients. The company he worked for was one of the best in the city, and usually, they had enough experienced chauffeurs who knew most of their clients because they’d been driving them for years. And, even though he got the chance to work there because of one of his friends’ fathers who was also a chauffeur, it was tough to get selected by people when you were new. He was at the bottom of the app, his score wasn’t high because he hadn’t done many jobs before, and even as time went on, it didn’t get much better. It wasn’t the best situation given how much he needed the money, so without having much choice, he asked for extra work. He was the one who ran errands, kept the cars clean, made sure they were fuelled up, practically everything his higher-ups asked him to. The extra money wasn’t much, but still, it was better than nothing.
The night he came back home with a 500 dollar tip, he couldn’t believe his eyes. At first, he got nervous because it was too unusual. Who just tips 500 dollars? It was insane. Most of his other clients never tipped much, even though it was obvious they came from the “elite”. But, that didn’t erase the fact that the money was right there, in front of his face. He was so fucking happy, he wanted to burst into his mother’s room and tell her about it right away. He didn’t do that, but what he did do was fall asleep with a big ass smile on his face.
