Hey guys, today I am going to try and explain the different kinds of decks that go into different longboards and skateboards for you guys. It does not matter if you are a beginner skateboarder or a professional, I guess everyone can use some knowledge and I am here to help! Decks are probably the most important longboard and skateboard part anyway. Okay for today, I am going to be talking about this longboard: land yachts, nine-to-five with vicious grip tape. On the top here I have the bear grizzly 8 52 trucks and I have stock bushings, stop hardware bear space ball: team, x7, bearings – and also, I have a really nice cloud ride, slides they're, 83 and really nice. So here's my setup. The original Harbert of 36 katie is in the shape of a kick tail and I got some sector 9 butter balls 88. Before that I was riding a downhill design shaped longboard. This particular longboard has excellent hardware and very nice ABEC 7 bearings. Now, as you know, there's a lot of good things about the sport, but what a lot of people don't know is that this board makes a great drink tray. Now, it's time to talk about the differences between top mounts and “drop” shaped boards. We're going to start with the different important parts; the drop through deck and the drop through trucks. I'm guessing you know by the name it has the shape of a drop through. That basically means that the base plate actually starts on the top of the deck and has a drop in the middle of the deck. The basic purpose of this drop through deck is that it gives you a lower center of gravity, so it'll be better for downhill riding and for generally pushing it around. Okay so moving on to the Mount Tam, it has no drop and the trucks are mounted directly below the deck, but that's going to allow you to put your foot directly on or past the mounting point on both sides. So, despite the fact that the top mounts are a bit higher than a drop, you're going to have an easier time, kicking out a slide, because you have more leverage. It is also because you can put your foot farther up on the board now. Each board has different ranks, concave functionalities, widths, etc. So there's a lot to choose from when you're getting a new board and I tried to explain just a few differences in this post of mine.
