Leah felt a twinge of pain seeing Kayla cleaning up after her again, she went over and took the clothes out of her hand tossing them on the bed. She could feel the tension in the room, for the first time she was actually afraid of talking with Kayla. “I- uhm- I have a couple of auditions,” she muttered. Leah leaned against her bed glancing at the blonde. “I didn’t want him to text you, I didn’t ask him to do that,” referring to Kendrick. It was annoying that the guy she was- well whatevering with was friends with Kayla. “I’m sorry,” she sighed.
It was a rare occasion to see regret or any noticeable effect on Leah which is why Kayla almost let herself become guilty for troubling her. The problem is Kayla knew what Leah had been through which made being tough on her best friend a real challenge. Still Kayla had promised herself that a line needed to be drawn. “He cares about you Leah so don’t blame him for texting the only person who seems to be able to get through to you. The sad part is how terribly wrong he is about my influence in your life.” Kayla’s face softened a little as she sat on the edge of Leah’s bed and put her head down. “We - the people who care about you - just want you to be okay. Whatever the fuck that means.”
leah-hamilton :
Leah groaned as she sat up, it had been awhile since she had a hangover. A week after she saw Mason and the girl was still drinking, and Kendrick was still around. It surprised Leah, she didn’t tell him she saw Mason again- she was not a fan of the drama that would bring. She sat up slowly in her bed, and opened the drawer next to her bed. She removed the flask from there and proceeded to get up and head to the bathroom when she heard footsteps approaching she slipped the flask into sweatpants pocket. “What’s up,” her voice a little raspy.
“Not much but being a productive member of society.” Kayla began to clean up the clothes strewn about; pretending not to see Leah’s hand slip in and out of her pockets. The blonde was upset with her best friend in a way she hadn’t been in years. Their friendship was becoming a strain on her relationship with Kylie and although Kayla would always put Leah first that was becoming increasingly difficult. “Got any plans for today or…” She looked around the room with a frown, “is this it?”
rose-karofsky :
“That’s what you guys all say, when you guys were my age how you weren’t as smart as me, but I think you could’ve been,” Rose smiled. She took a sip of her coke, and eased into the booth. Hearing that her mum was still there was enough for her, she really couldn’t stand the idea of her dad being alone again. “I guess because the first one didn’t work out,” Rose tucked a loose hair behind her ear. She couldn’t help but frown a bit.
“Could have beens are dangerous. I try to focus on what is nowadays.” All in all Kayla had done better than anyone expected of her. The time frame of achieving her goals was longer than she imagined but life had that tendency of getting in the way.
“I’d argue that it is because the first one absolutely worked out, but it was without her. That is not an easy fact to live with.” Leah would without a doubt be Kayla’s person as long as they lived but there were times she considered stepping away. All of those times revolved around what her best friend had put Rosemary through. The truth, Kayla had realized, was that Leah really missed out. “I know it can be hard to believe but... everything with your mom had nothing to do with you. There was never anything wrong with my precious Rose.”
rose-karofsky :
“A bit, I mean who knew electrical engineering could be so complicated?” Rose giggled. She was one of few girls in her programs and having to deal with the idiot boys, although she would never tell her mom about it. She did not need Kayla marching in and whopping ass like when she was younger. “I’m so proud of you! I can’t wait until I get to call you doctor… uhm- how’s my mum?” It always felt weird to refer to Leah as her mum but whenever she was in the picture it was the agreement that Kayla and Rose made, not in actual words but she knew how things would be if she did call Kayla mum in front of Leah. She didn’t need to give more reasons to runaway.
“I just assume anything involving complex math is too difficult for me. You’re more intelligent than I ever was.” Rosemary was alike Leah in that way, the major difference was that she used that intelligence in a different way. Mason had done an amazing job in raising Rose to be strong despite what she suffered through. It was regrettable that Kayla ever doubted that he had it in him. He had changed entirely and Kayla did everything to support them both when Leah wasn’t able to. “Well things are more consistent than ever. Although with Leah you never get too comfortable. I worry about her not being able to get pregnant, I think she thought of it as a second chance. So far it hasn’t sent her into a spiral... seems like she is really changing.”
Electric Ladyland. You’re just a closet populist aren’t you? If you’re gonna say that…Hold on. Okay. Just listen to this.
rose-karofsky :
“It’s kicking my ass but I’m fighting back hard. Thank you, you definitely say it enough but I never get tired of hearing it. How are you?”
“Hard classes this semester? You’re certainly a fighter and you’ll kick school’s butt. You have been growing into such a wonderful young woman I feel I ought to say it more. Good. So close to finishing the requirement for my doctorate of physical therapy that I can taste it.”
“How’s school going? I don’t know if I say this often enough but I am so proud of you.”

“Honestly that is the most interesting, they having hiking trailer and hot tubs- but I feel like those are gonna be occupied by oldies,” Kylie said making a face. “Imagine pruney oldies.” Kylie let out a giggle, she relaxed in the driving seat having Kayla be so close made her breath easy. It was just gonna be a couple of hours in the car but she hoped it took a bit longer because she wanted each moment to last forever.
Kylie admired Kayla setting everything up, she liked how organized she was- which was something she didn’t know. At the miniature kickback off the no phones, she did her best to keep her face neutral. “I guess before bed is okay,” she said with a soft smile and kissed Kayla’s lips lightly.
“Hiking could be fun. Especially if there is a nice view.” On their many trips around the world Kayla would often convince Leah to hike to a local view Kayla found by asking around. These trips served to remind Kayla that the Earth itself was a work of art. Kayla enjoyed that idea. Although she had a substantial amount of friends there was no one in existence she had more memories of than Leah. It was exciting to create memories with Kylie. No matter how small the trip was in comparative theory. A hot tub full of old people did not fit her ideal blueprint. Mostly because the thought of aging terrified Kayla. She laughed along.
Kayla closed her eyes and deepened the kiss because the urge was too strong. She pulled away and decided to ignore the slight change in Kylie’s tone. “You’re the best.” At that moment Kayla put her phone in the nightstand drawer with the volume off. Then she turned her focus entirely on Kylie. “You know I love you right?”

“Well- all the time spent with you is unforgettable, ready to top everything else though,” she replied with a grin. Kylie gave Cody a hug and a peck on the cheek before following Kayla into the car. Part of her was ready for Leah to burst out and steal her away but as Kayla got into the driver side and started the car- Kylie felt herself getting even more excited. This weekend was actually happening. “We have to get a couple’s massage,” she said flipping through the things they could do. It was small little town so there wasn’t a lot to do but she suspected that would be a good thing.
Once they arrived at the bed and breakfast, Kylie helped Kayla unload their bags and they checked in. She fell back on the bed and was in instant euphoria, she loved hotel beds. She motioned for the blond to join her and instantly curled into her. “Let’s turn off our phones this weekend, you know- unplug,” Kylie suggested.
“I could definitely use a massage. Anything else interesting?” Kayla settled into drive with the radio playing soft enough for her to hear Kylie. The hand that wasn’t on the steering wheel rested on Kylie’s knee. She cruised around enjoying the freedom of going away. Kayla always thought it felt good to leave - she could almost understand why Leah disappeared so much. To leave it all behind however temporary was a weight off the shoulders.
After checking in Kayla arranged her toothbrush and accompanying products on the bathroom sink. Once everything was unpacked Kayla was contemplating contacting the front desk when Kylie called her over. She instantly took a spot on the bed next to her girlfriend and draped her arms around Kylie. “For the whole weekend?” Kayla raised an eyebrow. She didn’t feel comfortable doing that. Anything could happen back home. “Can I check it before bed?”

Kylie excited packed her bag when she got back to the beach house, she had been living with Cody and Addison for a few months now. It was an even benefit, she would watch Elijah whenever they needed and she got to live rent free while she UCLA, she had two more years before she was an RN and she couldn’t wait. It was nice to take break from everything now though, to be with her girlfriend. She would worry about the assignment she had due later. Once packed she texted Kayla she was on her way. She was getting Cody to drop her off.
There was no need to go through her clothes Kayla simply packed her Gucci luggage bag Leah had gotten her a few years back. She knew the essentials were there; lingerie, pajamas, and a few outfits that were meant to drive Kylie crazy. Travelling was enough a part of her life that packing was second nature. Kayla already had an assortment of bags containing her toiletries and make-up. Those were haphazardly tossed into the bag too. From there she waited laying back on the bed in her burgundy crop-top and matching skirt for Kylie’s text. When Kayla received it she sprung out of bed the bed to drag her stuff down the long staircase in the home she shared with Leah. Kayla was loading the suitcases into her car when she noticed Cody’s car pulling up. Everything of hers was in the car so she proceeded to meet Kylie. “Hey, Cody. Thanks for dropping her off.”
“No problem. Have fun and don’t get too crazy.”
“Oh, never.” Kayla winked. She grabbed the bag for Kylie and greeted her with a kiss. “You ready for an unforgettable weekend babe?”
kylie--garcia :
Kylie giggled at Kayla’s suggestion to run off right now, they did need to pack. But she was excited that she loved the idea. “I need to get home and pack, and then it’s just you- me- and a cute place,” she brightly smiled before giving Kayla a quick peck on the lips.
“Yeah... I totally spaced on the preparation part. Okay go home and pack, I’ll grab a few things then we are gone. Right? That is the plan.” Kayla’s cheeks became tinted a tad bit red due to her excitement as well as the warmth of Kylie’s lips. She beamed and immediately began to prepare a mental list of what to take. “Call me when you’re ready babe.”
kylie--garcia :
“How about this weekend?” Kylie practically leaped at the talk for uninterrupted time. No family stuff and especially no Leah to snag her away. “There’s a bed breakfast about a couple of hours from here, probably super cheesy but it would be nice to spend a whole night with you.”
“We could leave now if you wanted.” There used to be a time when Kayla did scoff at the type of couples that “vacationed” only a few hours away. She had traveled to sights such as Spain yet there was as much excitement for the idea of being alone with Kylie. It would free Kayla from her everyday worries temporarily and give her the space she needed to figure out her next step. With the person she wanted to take it with.
kylie--garcia :
“Well you know it’s sometimes hard to keep up with you,” Kylie replied with a smirk. She honestly loved Kayla but it was sometimes hard to get her things because she felt like the girl had everything monetary wise. Plus her best friend was rich and she had to compete without that as well. It was intimidating in a way. “I’ll make sure your Christmas present is perfect.”
“You’ve been doing a fine job so far.” At the moment Kayla felt that she couldn’t ask for more from this relationship. It had been such smooth sailing so far she almost freaked herself out waiting for a storm. “Baby I would be happy even if all I got was to spend some uninterrupted time with you. You don’t need to get me anything lavish.”
“What more do you want?”
“To save the world, of course.”
