peer feedback: where can we help?

I am curious about this, do you tend to give more consideration to feedback postings that have a few words or those that have many words?

I mostly give more feedback to the people who provide more content, if the post are short and not really leaving questions and open ended items then it is hard to provide feedback or reblog it. However the people who add questions or comments within their posts make it easier to receive the peer feedback they want! Hope that makes sense

What are you most proud of with your writing process?

When it comes to my writing process I am the most proud of being able to apply content strategy to my writings. In this class I learned what content strategy is and how different content creators have different content strategies and how they base off their reasons for having a content strategy. As I write more and more papers and make more projects I now am able to think about my audience and think about creating my project based off of what would appeal to my audience the most. I am able to base off my original writing and all the drafts to follow knowing the goal is to have my audience engaged.

What did you learn about your writing process that will help you after college?-

Something specific that I learned about my writing process that will help me after college is that revision and peer feedback matter so much. I feel like we always think our work is good until we take a step back and let someone see it from another perspective. Peer review was extremely helpful for my writing process. It gave me time to take a break from revising and collaborate with others and their thoughts. This process ensures that my writing is clear, well-organized, and grammatically correct. Ultimately, improving my writing process down the road.

what did you learn about your writing process that will help you after college?

I learned that its best to get a second pair of eye in it. I can write and explain the points well enough but getting someone to look over it and help with expanding my points is very helpful. I now know where my limit/ ability is and when to ask for help. Be it from someone looking over my resume or a coworker proofreading my write up. But knowing the difference when I need help and don't want to do it is the next challenge.

I also agree that using a second pair of eyes is very beneficial even if it a professor, professional or even a friend is always better than no second pair of eyes at all!

what did you learn about drafting across multiple weeks that will inform your writing process after college?

I learned through drafting that my writing process takes time and that I need to plan out my time well and give myself time away from the writing. I tend to notice areas I can improve when I take some time away then come back to the work. This is revealed by having multiple weeks to work on the drafts, as I would often revisit areas of the project to adjust them.

I can use this in the future to better plan out my time in writing and understand how my process works to be more efficient.

How will having a good revision process help you moving forward beyond this class?-

Developing a good revision process is essential for work beyond this class. In a career setting, your emails, academic papers, proposals, etc. are hardly ever the final drafts. You must be able to effectively fix your mistakes and revise parts of your work. In my personal career, I am going to be a teacher, so I will have to create lesson plans, send emails, write IEP plans, proposals, etc. So, I will continue to use this revision process to ensure all of these academic texts are written to the best of my ability.

Hi I agree with what you added in with effectively fixing your mistakes when boss (professor) gives you feedback. I am also going to be a future teacher so I totally agree with writing out those IEP referrals, assignments and emails are so important to put your best thoughts forward.

Having a good revision process is just as important and having a good writing process. Outside of this class, if you are still a student, you will no doute have essays in future classes. If you are done with school and enter the world of job you will still need to write. Regardless having a good revision process will ensure that you writing is effective and does what you want it to do so people can rely on you.

what does your final revision process look like?

My final revision process includes a lot of re-reading my own work and identifying areas that are unclear and could be improved. I want to make sure my data, analysis, meaning, and purpose are clear to my audience.

I will take professor and peer feedback to improve certain areas of my project. I will also check my graphs and other visuals to make sure they are formatted correctly and the information is correct. The revision process takes me some time so I will also be sure to set aside time for it during the week.

Post 3: What is data within your space? How does this impact your analysis?

In my space, data includes both measurable engagement metrics and qualitative content choices. Likes, comments, and views show audience response, but they only become meaningful when paired with how the content is designed. Elements like purpose, tone, storytelling, and visual style are also data because they represent strategic decisions. This impacts my analysis by forcing me to connect numbers back to rhetoric instead of treating engagement as random. The analysis focuses on how repeated content strategies shape audience behavior rather than which individual posts perform best.

Hi, showing the engagement on the content you are researching is very beneficial for the audience to see how much the content is enjoyed by others. While connecting to rhetoric and content strategies also allows our classmates to connect your thoughts to our class.

How do these data elements answer your research question?

The variables I am using (the views, the likes, and the length of the video) directly help answer my question as to how the length of the video influences audience engagement. Every element has an important role in the analysis. The video length, chosen by the creator, is a design choice. Views and likes (engagement metrics), in turn, reflect audience response.

As I compare each of these elements, I’ll see a pattern. If shorter videos have more views, that can suggest some link between length and reach. However, if longer videos receive fewer views than usual but similar or higher likes, this could mean that while a smaller number of people watch them, those who do happen to be more engaged.

 Through these patterns, I am able to go beyond assumptions and support these conclusions with data. 

I’m also able to tie my insights back to the content strategy with these data points. It is stated in the course notes that we must “accurately measure the success of posts, and this means we link metrics to features. Using these elements, I am explaining how some content performs better and why some content performs worse instead of only counting numbers.

How does data elements answer your research question?

The data elements answer my research question based on the dates of the content being posted and the amount of engagement that the content received. The dates are important to watch for because baseball season is March to October. When they post outside of the baseball season it can be considered unusual. The engagement rates for the instagram posts are likes, comments, and reshare. These are important to see how the followers felt about the content being shared.

what data graphs do you think will help you SHOW your content strategy conclusions?

I have one data graph in mind that will show my content strategy conclusions. I was thinking of adding up and averaging the amount of likes from both types of content I explained in my project to show whether my hypothesis was right or wrong. This could show which type of content from these videos gains the most engagement, which could possibly show which content the audience enjoys watching more.

what conclusions do you think you can draw and why? how does the data you're collecting connect to those conclusions?

I think a conclusionI can draw from the current data I have collected is that my hypothesis has a greater chance of being wrong than correct. When tracking all of my data, I thought about my hypothesis and the 3 content types, Cat Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Daily Life, and how some content in Daily Life, my hypothesized most interacted with content type, had some large gaps in regards to other content since some videos would garner 100,000 likes on average.

Where I am with drafting!

So far I have my data chart and graphs, as well as my method fully fleshed out. I have disclosed my perception of what the aesthetics are and have covered all the descriptions of accounts. What I need to continue working on before I submit is adding in images/posts, doing an audience analysis, and created an explanation of why the results I found matter. I have ideas of why Capricotti relates to my work but I need to finalize putting those into words!!

how are you determining meaningful data? What method will you use to collect it? 

For me the most meaningful data is popularity of a product based on yearly sales, Popularity of a channel based on subscriber count and popularity of a video based on view count. This data is mainly just looking and interpreting rather than actually calculating. With that being said though, I also plan to calculate some sort of average with subscriber count, product popularity rating, and view count for the product. While I dont have that exact method yet, it will likely be something to show the overall trend between the 3 factors.

how will your research question add to the ongoing conversation about content strategy?

My research question will be heavily rooted in terms of the correlation between popularity and sustained content. I strategically chose accounts with varying subscriber counts to showcase the difference in content strategy among different states of accounts. Those accounts with high subscriber counts likely have some sort of good content strategy that has a consistent audience, while those with low subscriber counts have content strategy that is actively growing or needs improvement.

What is meaningful data to answer/address your research question?

Meaningful data to answer my research question is video content from the Instagram accounts I have chosen to analyze of 1 or more cats with a human caregiver with the cat being the focus. While all of these Instagram creators do primarily show off their cats, how they care for them, and how they are making their cats life the best they can; this is still their platform, and so they may post content surrounding life changes, sponsorships, or posts that aren't videos at all. I have determined that I can only answer my research question based on their content that exclusively includes the subject focusing on their cat. If the content isn’t focusing on the cat and more of the person, it won’t be meaningful data I can use to answer my research question.

Hi I understand that there can be some content on a post that has nothing to do with what you are researching and collecting data of. So to have meaningful data we should just ignore that content and move on to more meaningful posts that will help our research.
