(i know a lot of the outerbanks blogs have shifted to hockey so hopefully they see this and cen get the word out) i have seen NOTHING about the chl allegations. not a reblog, nothing. so im going to link the article (https://www.tsn.ca/affidavits-outline-alleged-abuse-harassment-and-hazing-in-junior-hockey-1.1561527) but be careful there are so many triggers. triggers for any abuse at all and especially hazing.
what happened to those players, and any others that have been treated that way, is absolutely inexcusable. how do you, A COACH, hear, see, know what’s going on and ignore it? these players (SOME OF WHICH WERE BOYS WHO HAVE NOT YET FINISHED GROWING) going through that is fucking insane. they were severely traumatized. some even to the point that they developed serious addictions. they were harassed, abused, and humiliated and you just let that go???? HOW? someone please tell me how they let them go through this. this toxic behavior is so common and people wonder why the sport is dying!! i physically got sick reading that article. I can’t fucking imagine going through such a severe situation and the people you look up to (maybe even revere) do nothing to help and make it worse. im not saying anything that hasn’t been said before, and that makes it worse. there have been allegations and nothing has been done. it’s disgusting how perpetuated this behavior is. hazing shouldn’t be tolerated even if it’s “tradition” it doesn’t ruin the game, it doesn’t make it less enjoyable, it makes it safer for the players. no one deserves this, and the idea that just bc they’re a rookie they should go through so much pain (mentally, emotionally, physically) is so fucked up.
