On our way through Illinois this month, on our 40th wedding anniversary, we stopped at the house we first lived in when we got married. It is one of about a dozen homes that make up the unincorporated village of Nekoma. We rented the upstairs of this old house. At that time, the village was not in the middle of a wind farm. Liz recalled that wild hemp plants grew along the lane.
We were broke, with no tv, only 2 kitchen chairs and a kitchen table, a stereo, a single bed, my guitar and amp, Liz’s keyboards, and orange crates full of LPs. Needless to say, we were very happy.
