I'm sure we're all aware how trans people get fucked over in the US but I just learned yet ANOTHER way the bureaucracy (at least of my state) tries to suppress our existence.

If you want to get your gender marker changed on your birth certificate, the attending physician of your birth has to sign off. You need to identify, locate, contact, and get consent from someone who's only contact with you for your entire life was cutting you out of the womb. What the fuck?

What if the AP is dead? What if they're transphobic and refuse to sign off? What if you're the result of a home birth or were born in another country? Why the FUCK would this be a requirement???

Visible mending is a way to fix clothes with holes in a decorative way. I think this method is super cool to repair clothes you may really want to keep but also make more beautiful.

There are many techniques to mending clothes and here are some popular techniques that will help you save your clothes and also reduce your consumption of fast-fashon!

darning

The embroidery technique used to repair holes in fabric by using running stitches and thread woven in-between those stitches to repair a hole. If you’re interested in employing this stitch, check out this awesome darning tutorial by Evelyn Wood!

sashiko

This type of traditional Japanese mending practice is used to reinforce the strength of fabric as well as decorate. It is a great solution for mending holes with patches and well to reinforce thinning fabric! For learning the basics of Sashiko there is a wonderful beginners tutorial by Benzie Design.

Patches are very versatile when used for repairing clothes. You can sew it over a hole in your fabric or you can also so the patch in the inside to have it peek out. There is a great tutorial for custom DIY patches by wastelesscrafts and Creating with misp has a tutorial on mending with a peek-through patch.

The above is a video shared by smrchildsadness on Twitter, showing a person participating in a pride parade exchanging a pride flag with a person standing on his (am using his pronoun based on the TikToks/Tweets of what happened) doorway who had a Portuguese flag. There are sounds of cheers and crying and the two people hug each other as they exchange the flags. The man at the doorway then waved kisses to the crowd within the pride parade.

The Tweet says: "NO YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HE WAS WAVING THE PORTUGUESE FLAG BECAUSE HE DIDN'T HAVE A PRIDE FLAG AND THEY TRADED FLAGS AND HE'S SO EMOTIONAL TO GET HIS OWN PRIDE FLAG I'M EMOTIONALLY RUINED"

For context, apparently they were worried that maybe he's a nationalist because he was waving the Portuguese flag and some nationalists opposing the pride march were waving that flag. But upon interacting with him, it turns out he didn't have have a pride flag and he wanted to wave *a* flag in support of the pride march. So they had an exchange and now he has his own pride flag 😭🥹.

Okay I know i already posted about my tattoo but I just. ugh <3. it makes me so happy. I've been doodling on myself my whole life and always been told "that's not what pens are for" or "people always regret tattoos, don't get real ones" and I've never understood why it's such a problem for me to just have fun and express myself? But today i was surrounded by people excited for me! Excited to help me turn my body into art, and telling me I was strong and brave and it was awesome!!

And idk man, lately I've been a little unhappy with my body and my lack of control over how it looks, so having something I've wanted for so long, that came out so beautifully and represents me so well, and knowing it's permanent??? That's amazing! It's so affirming!! I honestly feel like this is a small part of my transition. I know tattoos aren't gendered, but my vision of myself as a man has always included tattoos, and now I'm one step closer.
