Hello Friends and Family, it has been a while since my last blog post. A lot has been going on with work and my personal life. I just wanted to say that I am doing very well and that you should not worry about me. I know that my sister Ocean is very worried and I am sorry haha. I can't always keep up with everyone back home, just know that I always thinking of you guys.
Well, I'll start off with saying that Tamika and I have been doing a lot with pre school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to teaching Computer and English classes Tuesday and Thursday evenings with the Aunties and Uncles. It has not been going the way we wanted it to go but we are still learning everyday with what techniques the Aunties and Uncles can learn with. We try our best always; the routine isn't always perfect but we always find ways to work around it. I appreciate the Aunts and Uncles patience that they have with us, Tamika and I are in fact way way younger than they are and I think it is super cool how they are starting to be more comfortable with having us there with them everyday.
As for the babies, I cannot get over how precious they are. Everyday they find ways to surprise me, AH they can even remember my name now. It took a long time for me to get they to say my name. Its awesome when I can speak to little Justine she says "Kelli" in a soft tone, I say "Wanji?" she replies back to me "How are you" ... "I am fine" and it goes on and on. So precious I tell ya. It really melts my heart!
I admit I was a little distracted every now and then at work because I've missed home a lot and felt as if I didn't deserve to be here. I "thought" that I didn't have enough support from home but it honestly doesn't matter, as long as I support/ motivate myself and show my peers back home that I can do whatever I set my mind to. I really do struggle with that (motivating myself) but I just have to remind myself that I was chosin among many many candidates to be here and I should be proud.
I really do appreciate everyone and everything in my life right now. Ah I forgot to mention that we have a new volunteer from Norway named Eline Gundersen Gjerde, who lives in my room from now until Mid October. Eline has only been here two weeks and two days and I am so proud of her for overcoming her homesickness and staying strong. I am super glad that she is working in the babies home with Tamika and I, she is such a joy to have around at work and at home. It's going to be so sad when she moves out of my room to move two houses down the street haha. It will be okay.
We have also started a fundraiser for the Arise and Shine Babies home on Facebook if you go to my page you see the event, just so you know any amount of money is enough because it all adds up in the end so please help out as much as you can. We post what the money is spent on once we have raised $100 Canadian so you know and WILL feel good about where you are sending your money to. It feels so good to help out even in little ways and I know that deep down you feel a need to do something good in your lives. I cannot wait to see how much we have raised in these two weeks. I am also so thankful for my mom Emily Weenonis for starting her own fundraiser in Ahtahkakoop First Nation and possibly in my own reserve Big River First Nation. It feels great to have that support while I am so far from home. My heart is happy! I know for sure my angels are watching over me and protecting me. I´m honestly thankful for my friends and family who are praying for me and supporting me.
Anyways I think thats all I have to say, my mind is all over the place right now I just thought that I needed to update my blog about what has been going on lately. Thanks for reading. God Bless.

Hello Friends and Family, it has been a while since my last blog post.. Sorry. I've been doing a lot of getting to know Jinja and my co-workers these past few weeks. It's so crazy how quickly time is passing here, it has already been almost a month since I've been in Uganda. It's a little difficult for me to remember my daily activities since my last post. Let me just start off with my trip to the River Nile.. It was soooo wonderful. I couldn't believe that I was actually there. It was like my dream has come true! I never felt so blessed in my life, I know for sure that just being in Uganda and getting to know the land/ people that I will have a bright future ahead of me. While we were at the Nile I got to see monkeys, snakes, lizards, crocodiles n more.. I absolutely loved it. The one thing I was most excited about was that I got to feel real Cheetah fur, too bad I wasn’t allowed to take it home haha! My mind is so blank right now lol I really wish I started writing a journal early so my blogs would be a little more detailed, sorry! All I could say for right now is that things are going well, I love my job at the babies home, I love my roomates.. I love it here. Well except for the fact that I just found out I have bedbugs :( I’m hoping to be getting a new bed soon..pray for me haha anyways yea for sure my next blog post will be a little more better, I’m not really used to doing this yet so bare with me lol. Sorry.
Just a little duct tape and string to make my room feel a little like home.. #ilovemyroom #ineedanewmosquitonet #📸 (at Jinja, Uganda)
