I'm concerned by the notion that any fandom on Ao3 can be over saturated. It goes against literally everything I know about readers on Ao3. Those valiant soldiers whose purpose on earth and greatest joy is to read Every Fucking Thing Ever Written about their favourite ship.

They are not consumers, they are readers. Their attention is not the disinterested view of the economised short form, their attention is endless, their attention is love. For the characters, for the stories, for the realms of imagination that spiral into their daily daydreams.

They are here for the long form, for the million words, for the billions of stories about that one episode of TV they've seen eighty times.

They can never been saturated. They can never be sated. They've been reading that ship for forty years and will keep going until the end of time.

So write your little story about that fandom that's heard it all before. Add to the great and marvellous catalogue of weirdos. Because they're ready. There's someone waiting for you.

How do readers actually feel about purple prose? I’ve been experimenting with my writing lately, and one thing I’ve noticed is my writing style is very prose heavy. Personally, I don’t often think to heavily about other authors writing style. Like I have preferences (never first person) but as long as I enjoy the storyline and narrative voice I’m fine.

However I’ve seen so many people comment on purple prose, and think prices on all the things that make them stop reading a story and it’s made me start to overthink my work lol. Sooooo, how bad does it have to be for y’all to hate it?

Question to all my other writers out there, how do y’all handle writing multiple fics? I feel like I have a lot of ideas of things I want to write—like I have a whole document—but I have a hard time managing multiple. especially because they jump from different fandoms/og story lines. I don’t want to wait until one thing is finished (particularly now that I have two ongoing long fics, one start of a series, and like three other long fics in the work along with two original stories I want to finish lol)

Ok, this was going to be a full fic, but we'll see.

Shane and Ilya pretending to be rivals to avoid the immense homophobia of hockey. dancing around each other in public, at the same hotel per usual for a game, and then running into Andriel who are also at the same hotel for an Exy game. Andriel who are also notorious Rivals, but only because the media couldn't care less to read between the lines. Revelations are made, Andriel is iconic, Hollanov are in love. (or imagine the two doing an interview together as two of the biggest sport rivalries and it just being so obvious both are in love.)

Like when I tell you all I have been thinking about is how they would interact.

Kevin promises to give Andrew something to live for in exchange for protection. Kevin scouts a runaway boy who plays like he has everything to lose and brings him to Andrew. Neil was the product of that promise, and when it’s almost gets taken away, when Kevin knew that he would be taken away. Andrew retaliated, because that was Kevin breaking their promise.
