A bit of rebranding

It's often stated that First impressions are very important... And I made quite the mistake by not taking that very good piece of writing advice seriously. I think, deep down, I KNEW I needed to start it on a new blog just to avoid confusion, but I figured that, if I posted my new story on here, people might see it as a continuation of the old RP blogs. I'll be honest, while that can still partially be the case to some degree? I still feel like I could've done far better with my story then link it back to stuff I wrote, what, almost a decade ago? I need to give this story I'm writing a bit more room to breathe then that. It’s possible to buy a non-subscription version of Word; Microsoft just intentionally makes it very difficult to find (and also expensive).

However, I know a guy who knows a guy website: MS Office Pro for $50. If the link starts going to a Page Not Found, just search the site; they usually have some form of this sale available. 

Worth noting: while $50 is still more money than $yo-ho-ho, that money is a great way to make VERY clear to Microsoft that we DO want one-time-purchase products, not subscriptions.

What to do if you find yourself homless- written by someone who has actually been homeless

Most important: Spend the money you have on a motel. Churches probably will not actually help and shelters can be dangerous or turn you away. At a motel you have free breakfast, access to running water, and a lockable place to sleep. Do not waste money on a gym membership like the popular version of this post says to do, YMCA memberships are like $40.

2. Contact family and friends. Now is not the time to worry about being a burden. Your survival and safety comes first and that is all that matters, anyone worth having in your life will agree.

3. Start a gofundme. Even if someone can’t offer you a place to stay, they might be willing to toss out $5 so you can eat today.

4. Libraries have free wifi. Apply to any and all jobs you can think of if you aren’t already working.

5. Any home is a good home. Even if it’s a dingy apartment in a bad neighborhood. If its cheap and you can afford it, snatch it up. 

6. Pancake mix and peanut butter are filling, cheap, and last a long time.

This reminds me of a concept we have in the German language: "eierlegende Wollmichsau" translated literally: "egg-laying woolmilksow"

It's used exclusively in the context that the perfect option doesn't exist in reality. Like "you're looking for an 'eierlegende Wollmichsau' " with the implication that it's foolish to do so.

The perfect candidate doesn't exist. And frankly, if all those entitled purity-people actually cared about Palestine, they'd realize that Biden is still the correct choice.

Politics isn't about finding the perfect candidate. It's about finding a compromise you can live with and/or stopping outright evil.

If you want a better candidate, put the work in. Support local candidates that represent your views. Canvas for them. Get them elected. Or even become that local candidate. That is how you make your voice heard. Not by showing up once every 4 years and making a single choice. If you only do that, you have to accept the choices other people present you with.

I have a graphic design degree but I'm not a copyright artist, so the following is not legal advice, it's just a set of observations:

Steamboat Willie vs Mickey Mouse

On the left is Steamboat Willie, on the right is Mickey.

Biggest design difference: Mickey has gloves, and Willie doesn't. Don't draw Willie with gloves, if you do, you're drawing Mickey. You can't see it in this particular screencap, but Willie does have fingers, so you can draw him with full hands.

Willies eye's are black solid ovals, with no sclera and no eye-shine. Mickey has white sclera, smaller distinct pupils, and usually has eye-shine.

Willie is in black and white. You could theoretically make Willie whatever colors you want but for safety, you should obviously avoid Mickey's iconic red shorts with white buttons and yellow shoes.

Mickey's face is usually colored peach these days but it can also be seen in white.

Mickey's shoes tend to be drawn bigger and rounder than Willie's.

Willie doesn't talk, so he doesn't have the classic Mickey voice, so if you're doing like, a voice-acted video... just don't try to imitate Mickey. Give him a different voice.
