ASSAD ZAMAN as ARMAND The Vampire Lestat 3.07

A second thought save them all from my provoked rage...Where is Louis?
I have been enduring intense conversations with myself in the three years since our companionship ended. And as part of that journey, I wish to say something from the deepest regions of my soul. Two grievous lies, gross betrayals. The first is a well-trod pit of hot coals I blistered my feet on for 77 years. I chose my coven over you, lured you into a production of a play, in which your death would act as the grotesque climax. The coven was twisting my arm, but… I took aesthetic pleasure in making your death visually exhilarating. All of which was made worse by our heady lovemaking throughout this period of betrayal, and… the second. I shamefully took credit when Lestat saved your life. That lie bound you to me, and it lay like a corpse in the boiler room of our companionship. Many times, I told myself the lie did not matter because what we had built, a love that served as a bunker against time, was weightier and more consequential than the lie, but it wasn't true. The lie did matter because the corpse was there, calling forth the facts. And as for the many boys you drugged, drained, and lay with, I feigned resentment when, in fact, I welcomed your straying because your guilt in their aftermath bound you to me all the more tightly and allowed me my hours of observation with Daniel. I told you I loved you, but did I? Hmm? Did I? Or was it a clinging to the underside of anyone who would help me survive? And when I look back on who I've deceived, how I've deceived, how easy it was for me to lead a cult for 400 years, to burn in ritual any who broke the archaic laws we lived by, I— I think I might be a room without walls, floors, a ceiling. An infinite nothing. Also, yes. I put the Fred Steins in your photo collection just to fuck with your head. And that is my full and heartfelt "Armends."
- yeah that was an entertaining ending!
- my terrible husband finally got his revenge/closure, and am delighted that it finished with Louis apologising, and then telling him to find a better love and so that's exactly what he went to do!!! i will always be on the divorce lesmand train and do think they were such a bad union, but i'm actually very touched it turns out his entire murder arc this season was still mainly dealing with his love for louis and their break-up. that gives their union a certain level of gravity that no one else is giving him. when someone like armand wears you for a skin that long obviously shedding it is going to be messy & vengeful. and all this hopefully maybe means they'll be able to talk to each again in the future without taking chunks out of each other. in place of chopping off nicki's hands he went feral with fareed, and i would have liked the bad babysitting episode but this brought a v similar energy!
- absolutely no idea what lestat learned, i worry not enough, but that is also v true of the book. lestat is a lot. he will always be a lot. i will be relieved when we're free of his pov and gabrielle, who was defs the weakest thing of the season. i do think their magnus was great andstole every scene and i'm sorry if that's the last of him. i loved the moment of quiet at the end between lestat and louis.
- literally all we needed was more akasha, but i get that that we cldn't have her back yet....
- oh wait daniel also needed something else to do/a stronger motive, but again! i think he just needs a hug and some friendship and respect, and as far as i can see, a beautiful damaged vampire is about to find him and er, ask to be cradled with love.
- in fact, both armand and daniel have spent the season in different stages of frustration. they've also enabled and made each other worse! i think they can also make each other better :) s4!!!!
i have too much joie de vivre for this
i’m so serious when i say excessive fear of being annoying/creepy/taking up people’s energy etc holds us back. it seems like it’s just little things but they add up. over the past month i’ve ordered food and drinks almost exclusively by asking “do you have a favorite?” and i know if i said that on twitter or wherever ppl would dogpile me for demanding emotional labor of servers or w/e but every single person i’ve asked has seemed genuinely psyched to answer! i don’t ask if it’s busy obvi, and use a phrasing that gives them the easy out of “i don’t have one”— but no one has taken it! the girl at the cafe confessed to me with something like conspiracy in her voice how everybody raves about the gluten free chocolate chip cookies and sure, they’re great, but the delicious, fluffy homemade waffles are RIGHT THERE. the barbera the bartender recommended was actually kind of awful but it broke the ice and we ended up talking for like 45 minutes. the bodega guy declared that he usually makes himself a burger but tonight was “a breakfast sandwich night” and tbh he was totally right. it WAS a breakfast sandwich night
thank you tumblr user @saw5. tumblr user saw 5 gets it

“Hunting the Wren ... is based on a true story of the Wrens of the Curragh—a community of what author Rose Doyle called ‘unmarried mothers, free-thinkers, alcoholics, prostitutes, vagrants, ex-convicts and harvest workers. All of them women who had, in one way or another, put themselves beyond the pale of respectable society’, living rough on the plains of the Curragh, County Kildare, in the 19th century. The term ‘wren’ comes from the nest-like shelters that women lived in, and most of the information we have about their lives comes from the writing of James Greenwood, published in the Pall Mall Gazette in 1867. Much like the wren in Irish folklore and custom, these women suffered greatly.“
