research: young people today are more anxious and depressed than ever
society: oh my god that's terrible why
research: well they're under more pressure at school, they're worried about the political climate, they're more diverse and more aware of social injustices than past generations, their job prospects are poor, trends like helicopter parenting and increasing surveillance of kids inhibit their ability to develop a sense of being in control of their lives, there's an increasing cultural disconnect between generations, they're increasingly criminalized for minor offenses or even just being out in public, they're overscheduled and lacking in free time, they-

Hereâs further awesome proof that cosplay is for everyone! Brazilian cosplayer Solange, aka Tia sol (âAunty Sunâ) has won the heart of the internet with her wonderfully accurate homemade costumes and convention appearances around her home city of Manaus, Brazil.
âA friend said that I wouldnât have the guts,â Solange told BuzzFeed News. âI chose a character and had the costume made without saying another word.â
âI donât miss a single event in my city. Iâd really like to visit other ones, but have you seen the price of the fares?â
âI never thought that I would be well received among the young people, Iâve made a lot of friends during all of this.â Cosplay conventions have become a sort of a haven for Solange: âI can launch myself into the world of make-believe, where anything goes.â Her next event is coming up in December. âIâm finishing up the painting on my new cosplay, Granny Juju from Jorelâs Brother.â
Follow Tia Sol on Facebook to keep up with her latest cosplay creations.

Incredible!
We need more old women characters in media
me @ myself: what the fuck happened to you
so tonight im working super late at an adults-only event at the zoo where itâs basically endless beer and wine tasting and then wandering around the zoo at night. Keepers mainly sit around then we just take turns going up for a circuit through our areas and let me tell you as the night has gone on things have gotten more entertaining. So far I have seen: -A group of drunk girls legit crying in front of the puffin exhibit because theyâre Too Cute -A dude pointed at a vacant eyed, open mouthed, coldwater fish and, completely deadpan, turned to his friend and went âitâs youâ -overheard a very serious debate on whether or not sea turtles sleep (âTed you fucking moron everything fuckin sleeps jesus christâ -A girl stroking her hand back and forth on the glass in front of a chillin Amazon cichlid (idk what part ok freshwater exhibits aint my thing) cooing âItâs just so pretty I want to be itâs friendâ -A man enthusiastically singing a ballad in front of the aquarium with some grand drunk improv like one standout line was âWhat we doin at the zoOOOoooOOooo? We drinkin a breeEWWWwwwwwwwww!â
-a very harried voice on the radio sighing âwe need more captain morgan and vodka at concessionsâ -five calls for medics -three calls for broken glass -A girl standing on her own in the middle of the shark reef tunnel, staring straight up with an open mouth and arms limp at her sides, oblivious to all the people around her - âAhaha. holy shit look at all of itâs legsâ said in front of the octopus exhibit -overheard a loud furious âDID YOU JUST FUCKING AS ME IF THE PENGUINS ARE FAKE?!â -This exchange on the radio âHi concessions to event management? What do we do with the used napkins?â Long pause, then a disgusted âYou throw them away. Because theyâre garbage.â (honestly prayer circle for concessions) - âholy shit itâs nemo what up dudeâ (I hear a million variations of âi found nemo!â but this is my favorite so far ok)
now! thatâs what I call fascismÂ
As I get older Iâm finding that a lot of the âintellectualsâ I used to admire are actually just condescending and pretentious. And also realizing how much more important it is to be present, considerate, and empathetic because nobody really knows what theyâre talking about and anyone who claims to know everything about anything is feeding you bs.
âWhen I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people.â - Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel
I am also realizing that actual intellectuals make their subjects easy to understand, and faux intelectuals will attempt to baffle.
